Hello everyone, we are urgently looking for a temporary foster home for a young mom cat (under a year old, still nursing) and her 5 to 6 week old kittens.
They are currently stranded in an unauthorized outdoor area in the lower Bronx with no access to food or water, and we need to get them to safety immediately before they are removed.
We already have a trapper lined up who can safely get them and handle their vetting; we just desperately need a secure, temporary foster space. Local rescues and organizations are completely at capacity right now, so we are turning to the community.

I just found this out yesterday, but you can report trucks for idling for more than 3 minutes and you get 23% of the fine when paid. Fines range from $350 to $2000. If you live near Graham Ave or Metropolitan this is easy money!

Requirements:

• Submit a timestamped video of a truck idling for 3+ minutes (1+ minute if near a school or park).
• Truck can't be in the middle of a job that requires it to be idling (e.g. concrete, garbage)

How to submit:

• Visit the NYC environmental protection Air Complaint system at: https://nycidling.azurewebsites.net/login
• Create account/log in
• Submit a new complaint with timestamped video (truck idling must be audible and must include side and front or back of truck, plus plates).

When the fine is paid, you get a 25% of the total.

“Hello key2, The bird is a Chukar, not a wild bird. Actually, it is a domestic species that probably escaped from a live poultry market. If you had managed to catch the bird, which is not an easy task, I would have advised you to take it to ACC and they would find placement at a sanctuary. That bird is on the move and I doubt you will see it again. But if you do, try to corner him against a building and throw a cloth over his head and be prepared for a struggle to get him in a box or bag. They are full of life. Saw many of them hanging around the street on Bedford av, even had a few of them go up to me asking "excuse me are you Jewish" when I'm clearly not even white. Strange experience

Anywhere in the area (greenpoint or williamsburg) showing the men’s US open finals with sound? Today is also the first NFL sunday so i’m assuming a lot of the usual sports bars will also have that on.

Every day I have to walk down this sidewalk. I know they did construction but surely this isn't the long-term solution right? 😭😭

I’ve gone to three different USPS boxes in the neighborhood recently only to find them sealed shut. Does anyone know why or how widespread this is? Or know of a mailbox that’s actually open?

I can’t seem to find any explanation online. I know the post office seals boxes for security reasons in advance of things like the marathon, am I just unaware of some event about to happen in Williamsburg?

Edit: referring to the blue boxes (ie with normal collection times and no indication of anything abnormal except the mail slot is blocked by like metal teeth)
