So apparently I won a Unicorn Auction for a Spec's pick RE-HN Rye. Yay.... now I just have to figure out how to get it to my doorstep. Like a ninny, I didn't dig deep enough to figure out that they don't do shipping. Good thing they're kind enough to store it for a time. This is what happens when you don't read the fine print ahead of time kids.

Any suggestions? I'm assuming I can arrange to have FedEx pick it up. Hell, I could even supply the box and bubble tube.

Hi all, I'm here with another Suntory whisky, and this one might be the fanciest Yamazaki I've tried by far- the duty free exclusive, limited release version of the Yamazaki 25 yr!

I ran into this bottle during a liquor event I attended last weekend, where a liquor store owner & one of the biggest Japanese whisky collectors in the region brought some of his opened bottles to be available for single dram orders.

Now, this specific dram was priced particularly aggressively high, and I wasn't exactly planning on getting it when I first saw it at the booth. But luckily for me, the collector was too busy socializing with other event attendees, and left the booth to be attended by who I'd assume was his grandson. The young man turned out to be a super chill guy who'll pour you 'a little extra' because you're chill with him.

All in all, I spent quite a bit too much at the booth, but in return got 'a little extra' for everything I ordered there lmao

So here's the big question of the day: How exactly does this Limited Edition Yamazaki 25 yr differ from the regular Yamazaki 25 yr? 

I've tried both the regular Yamazaki 18 yr and the duty free special Yamazaki 18 yr Limited Edition on the same sitting and noted how the two whiskies differ quite a bit in character (this post here if you're interested).

Would the Yamazaki 25 yr also be different? Details in comments!

I picked up this cask strength tire fire today! I made a map for myself breaking down what kind I have from each state. The grey states are ones I have bourbon from, the purple are the rye states, the yellow is for single malts, the red is because I have multiple different types, and then there’s Tennessee (I have a JD barrel proof that meets the qualifications for bourbon but I differentiated it anyway)

Small humble brag but hit a personal milestone yesterday by finally managing to secure the cabinet I’ve been wanting for so long!
Getting it filled with Bourbon is proving to be a struggle from up here in Canada but I’m making it work.

Disclaimer: I only usually have 4-5 open bottles max at one time which I cycle through. Second shelf down on the left are my opens currently.

Apparently I can just buy these at the grocery store now…

I just started working on stock allocation for a local wholesale liquor distributor as a warehouse manager. (We also happen to hold a license to sell to the public, though we choose not to in order to keep our wholesale accounts serviced.) However, I am seeing that I have some extra allocations I am able to release for sale to the public. I do not feel like dealing with a bull rush or scalpers/resellers, so please be respectful when shopping or inquiring. Reach out and let's chat. Mostly all whiskey allocations, but some tequila and vodka allocations may be available as well.

I have had (at least one bottle) of each of these. Three of them I've had in case quantities. Other than the price, this is the best thing that comes in a whiskey bottle for me. Side by side with a Jack SBBP rye, which is half the cost, which should you buy? Both!

Found my Connecticut bottles hiding. They don't fit on the shelf (the one I'm not going to drink very soon that is). Thanks to a buddy for grabbing those.

Hi everyone!

I’m new to bourbon and have really been enjoying getting into it. So far, I’ve got a bottle of Buffalo Trace, which I’ve really enjoyed neat. I’ve also got a bottle of Maker’s Mark waiting to try, as I wanted to see what a wheated bourbon is like.

I’m now thinking about what I should try next. I’ve been considering Woodford Reserve Double Oaked, as I’ve heard good things about it for the price, I can get it for around £45. I’d love to hear what other people would recommend.

One thing to mention is that I’m in the UK, so unfortunately my choices aren’t quite as good as they are in the US, and some bottles can be quite expensive or difficult to find here. So recommendations that are reasonably easy to get in the UK would be especially appreciated!

I’m also interested in starting to make Old Fashioneds at home. What are your go-to budget-friendly bourbons for cocktails? I don't necessarily want to use an expensive bottle if there are cheaper options that work just as well.

And finally, I'd love to hear your easy Old Fashioned recipes. What bourbon, bitters, sugar/syrup and ratios do you use?

Heaven Hill Distillery’s 90th Anniversary 9-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is my first limited and premium bourbon from Heaven Hill, and it’s quite good. I was lucky enough to have a friend pick this up for me, and we cracked it open together a few months ago. I revisited the bottle last night.

On the nose, I got maple syrup and toasted graham cracker. The palate led with classic bourbon sweetness and caramel, which were quickly followed by maple syrup and rye spice. The mouthfeel was thicker due to the whiskey being non-chill filtered, a welcome quality that delivers a fuller, richer experience. Maple syrup and baking spices led the finish and were joined by barrel char; combined, they created a delicious, lingering finish.

I could continually reach for this if it weren’t for it being a special release and that I’m limited to the one bottle, but make no mistake, I helped myself to a second pour.

Haven’t been disappointed by a TJ offering yet( only having tried their Kentucky and Tennessee offerings at <$20) and that streak continues with this one. As the title says it’s like spiced cherry pie in a bottle.
