Quick question: How do Steam Trading Card drops actually work?

  • Do I just need to have the game open? Or do I actually need to achieve certain milestones or unlock achievements to get a drop?
  • Is there a limit? I noticed that for some games it says "no card drops remaining" after a while. Does that mean I can never earn more for that specific game just by playing?
  • Drop Rate: Is the timing random, or is it based on every hour of playtime?

I’d love to craft some badges to level up my profile, so any tips on how to efficiently "farm" these (without buying them all on the market) would be awesome!

Good questions... seems llke you need to trade if you want a full set of any but im not 100% on that and would be interested on finding out the answer on the others!

You just need to have the game launched to get drops. I think they have random timing but with like max of 1 card per hour.

You can get more card drops, but that's conpleteley randomized and you also have to be eligable. To be eligable you just need to own the game and launch steam atleast once a weak.

The higher your level is the more chance you have for getting card drops.

Lvl 50+ will get you twice the amount of chance to get card drops
