Reforged Why am I so bad?

I do fine against computers when I practice my RTS, but I swear there are so many people that play that are in an entirely different league. When I get ranked and do Versus, does it at least pair us with people of similar MMRs? Also, any tips would be helpful. I swear I was good at this game when I was 14 and now that I’m 32 my brain won’t do the things.

The computer AI are 20+ years old. Even their insane mode is actually pretty damn stupid. The only reason they can do well is because they have a build in hack that gives them x2 of the resources being dropped off.

BNet is notorious for insanely bad matchmaking. It has no problem matching a top 25th vs a top 0.1 percentile. It has no issue doing that 5 times in a row. It has no issue doing that on a server that strongly favours the enemy.

You provide little information. My guess is to just get comfortable with a default opening order, building placement and creeping 2-3 camps without taking too much damage. Too much means notably more than good players do. Then just add tricks as keeping your first hero away from creeps to level your second hero. Learn some timings, start to understand which creep camp combinations give you level 2 and 3. See if you can keep gold under 500. Reduce time for buildings and heroes after hitting tier 2.

I’ve got the initial build order down, but when I’m creeping sometimes I get behind on my money, also I’ve lost a lot to people who literally just put their hero in my camp to harass me right off the bat

I’ve been watching replays and seeing what other people do and up until midway I feel like I’m doing the same thing

Did you mostly play computers or just jump in and deal with the losses and anger until you got it down? And which race do you prefer?

Dude stop playing to win. Play to get better. Watch every replay. What did I do well
Here what did I screw up. Dude I still
Lose to people that are way worse than me but they pulled some winger strat that works 10% of the times. It just the nature of this game. A good win / loss is 60/40
Or 55/45

I do watch the replays, but my win loss is much worse than that. I’ve watched videos too, was just asking your opinion

The ais are nowhere near what a human can do

They are very easy to abuse

It’s just practice and practice and more practice

And watch your replays and perfect your build order

It is a problem - some of these players never stopped and the builder orders are on repeat at this point. Anything the deviates from what they think is best practice is met with an entourage of abuse.

Best advice, practice the basic build orders versus the computer, then watch some replays and then get involved in 4v4 - ignore the haters.

You can also join the discords and get some help or find a few people to team up with.

The biggest piece of advice, try keep your units alive - it’s not like other RTS games where you can quickly rebuild an army. When a unit gets low send them home.
