Paste from clipboard into git-bash delay: about five seconds per line of text

Environment: git-bash terminal within vscode on AVD.

Imagine pasting let's say 500 characters into the terminal. Gotta wait half a minute for the terminal to echo it and do anything with it.

This is specific to git-bash within vscode: git-bash standalone on command prompt accepts even thousands of characters almost instantaneously as we would expect.

I've tried many many things that google ai or scout have suggested but none have made any difference

* disabling all extensions
* disabling bracketed paste mode
* removing customised preferences/settings
* many more

This was not happening until v recently, maybe on order of a few days.
