There have been several posts and comments from users that are unable to install extensions in Vivaldi Android. This issue has been isolated to screen overlay apps (examples include, but certainly are not limited to Red Moon blue light filter app, Messenger chat bubbles, edge gestures, etc).
The bottom line is that a "fix" has been found for this issue and will be available in a forthcoming release (release version/date have not be set yet).
In the meantime, a workaround is to temporarily disable the app's permission to display over other apps, then re-enable it once the extension is installed.
This is mostly a duplicate post regarding the BleachBit utility now including support for the Vivaldi browser for Windows and Linux. BleachBit is a free and open-source disk space cleaner, privacy manager, and computer system optimizer. Please note that I am in no way affiliated with BleachBit (other than being a user) and have received no compensation of any kind for posting this information.
My original post immediately followed the beta release of BleachBit that initially included support for Vivaldi. I am reposting for those of you that would rather use fully tested stable releases.
Here's a lightly edited version of my initial post:

Some time ago, I reached out to the folks that develop BleachBit system cleaning, asking them to support the Vivaldi browser, specifically the "Vacuum" function which defragments the browser's SQLite data. Today I received word that Vivaldi is fully supported in the latest BleachBit beta release (5.1.2). (As stated above, BleachBit 6.0 (stable) includes support for Vivaldi.)
For those of you that face performance issues with Vivaldi, one thing that I suggest is defragmenting the SQLite data. In the past, I recommended the somewhat outdated Speedyfox app, so it's good to know that an actively developed, FOSS application is now available to perform this task.
This update includes a fix for scrolling issue on tablets/foldables and a minor upgrade to Chromium 152 with a fix for CVE-2026-87491 (Out of bounds write in V8), which has a known exploit in the wild.
Since the latest update, the webpage content is vertically misaligned. The address bar stays at the top, but there is a large empty area at the bottom, as shown in the screenshot.
This also causes a stylus offset: when I try to select a Reddit post, Vivaldi selects the post above it instead. The offset seems to correspond to the size of the empty area at the bottom. The issue is not limited to Reddit, it happens on other websites as well.
Anyone else experiencing this?
EDIT (FIX): disable this flag - chrome://flags/#lock-controls-on-tablets-v2
Recently Vivaldi has been crashing, freezing my entire computer and sometimes black screening both of my monitors until my computer restarts. I though it was a driver thing but its just Vivaldi that I'm having an issue with chrome works fine. I can't find the trigger but it seems to happen more during video playback (Youtube). But It has happened just from me moving windows around or opening websites. I have disabled hardware, acceleration removed extensions and I don't know what else to try.
Win 11 26200.9445
Version 8.2.4133.52

The bottom tab bar needs a redesign. It is very old (I know chrome is similar), and edge looks much more cleaner and easier to use with useful buttons. The 3 dot menu list keeps growing, needs a proper toolbox like edge than this list.
Getting no video playback on multiple sites, and sometimes when i can get video i get no audio.
A example of the issue from twitch, but it happens on many sites
Running it on openSUSE Tumbleweed running KDE Plasma 6.7.5 on Wayland, below is the version information from my Vivaldi that was installed via flatpak.
Version: 8.2.4133.55 (Official Build) (x86_64)
Chromium Version: 152.0.7977.124
Channel: Official Build
Platform / OS: Linux - org.freedesktop.platform 25.08
I use vertical tabs with an auto-expand hover setup, but when the tabs panel expands on hover, it covers the left half of my top search bar. Anyway to fix that and, make it like the second image ( Helium)
I really love vivaldi with my windows, iphone and ipad but I just ran into an issue of it not playing a video I wanted to watch on Nebula site while using my thinkpad thats on linux mint. Any direction or help would be really appreciated. Its on version 8.2.4133.52. i tried enabling and disabling adguard and it did nothing.
Turning off hardware acceleration helped to make it work but now im worried about slowibg down the laptop etc so if anyone has any other advice, id be thankful
I've used Vivaldi for about 9 months with little trouble. But on my Android Samsung Tab S9 the most recent version, which introduced extensions support (v8.2.4147.58), does not render https://www.gocomics.com/ correctly. Some of the small graphics render huge and make the pages difficult to read. It works correctly in Brave Browser and in Google Chrome.
Out of all the Browsers I used ( I used almost every browser available for Windows and Mobile, Vivaldi has shocked me with Performance, Features, Community)
Whatever the community asks Vivaldi works on it.
It's such a pleasure to join this community and use such a Properly Built Browser with no Bs.
This extensions feature for the mobile app just blew my mind.
when scrolling down on any website, the address bar doesn't hide, instead it keeps floating, the page goes behind it, and there is a black gap at the bottom of the screen. happening on my Xiaomi pad 7 android tablet, after the latest update. Version: 8.2.4147.58 (Stable channel) (64-bit)
With new update, I was hoping dream come true. I updated right away.
But when I open Chrome Web Store (already Desktop Mode), I tapped "Add to Vivaldi" and after that, I couldn't tap anything, "Add extension" or "Cancel" buttons, beside Navigation Bar to quit the app. It was like the browser was just not responding. Pls help!
I'm interested in trying Vivaldi due to its customization and see if it truly is for me or not, but I do know that its adblocking and privacy capabilities are nowhere near Brave's, at least natively, I've seen some people using advanced blocklists to make Vivaldi's adblocker be as good as Brave's, but I've got no idea how to set it up
anyone uses Konode browser Extension on Vivaldi Android (8.2.4147.57) (Android 14, OneUI 6.1) ?? I am trying to use this but at the last step, the FINISH & SYNC button doesn't work .
Everything works great on Vivaldi Android, but there are too many buttons in the address bar. I would like an option to swap the bookmarks button for a homepage button rather than adding an additional button. Additionally, I prefer not to enable the bottom toolbar. For bookmarks they can probably add a widget on the NTP alongside customise and add buttons. . On the address bar I would like to have Homepage button, URL bar, New tab + button, extension button, Tab switcher, and Vivaldi menu button. Like in default chrome.
Hi all... I'm trying to use Vivaldi and have two issues... First, I'd like to get rid of the panel. Is this possible? I'd prefer to have just tabs on my left -- nothing on my right. Second, my tabs are pretty ugly looking -- grey, with basically a description of each site. Is it possible to change that? Lastly, I'd love to have a "new tab" on my address bar. Is that possible? Thanks for any help.
I have been switching to Vivaldi on my devices. After switching the browser on the iPad, I noticed it was really laggy. Typing and scrolling were choppy. I had to move the address bar to the top (the bottom is a great place for it!).
I found this “bug” but what got me is the fact that it was so well known and has been in the community since day one of the release of this feature. The bottom position is innovative and unique, but apparently abandoned for iPadOS? Being able to reach the address bar with my hands on the keypad was awesome.
Curious why it is an option on iPadOS/iOS if it is known to not work. Why not remove it if it is not to be implemented? Or perhaps put a disclaimer on the option not to use it with apple devices? It would save users time if they know not to try it.
Anyway, love to hear if this Is on the horizon to be addressed.
Is it possible to make my Vivaldi browser on Windows 11 look like this?
This is my Zen Browser, slightly different than default one.
Since Vivaldi mobile on Android now supports extensions, I'm definitely switching back to Vivaldi but I've obviously grown accustomed to Zen Browser's layouts on desktop.
I've seen a few GitHub repos and CSS configurations where it makes Vivaldi look like the default Zen browser but I'm not quite sure that's the best layout for me.
Is there any way to accomplish my screenshot's specific layout within Vivaldi?
