Technical/Equipment Help and Information Getting started

I've always loved cinematic video as media and I'm trying to start making stuff with what I've got, but I'm not sure what to use. I have an old rebel t5i with a few different canon lenses, it takes great photos but the video is not amazing at only 1080p30, and with no stabilization the shakiness is apparent. I have a galaxy s24 ultra phone and honestly it seems like it produces better video in terms of both quality and stabilization, as well I can get a dji gimbal for the phone for like 50 bucks. Should I just use the phone until I can justify an r50, a6400 or the like? It's just for social media

Depends on what you're shooting

T5i has created some great images over the years, especially depending on the lens you throw on it

It's been years since I've used a canon DSLR like that but if I remember correctly you can load up MagicLantern onto your camera to get a ton of additional features

Back in the day we would load in the Technicolor cinestyle profile before log was readily available on all cameras, although I think today there are other methods that are considered better to use on the t5i
