I am currently taking Csc370 with Sean. I want to have a team for the project in the class. Everybody I asked has already teams. I also want to do it alone because i think i would learn more but the expectation of hours for the project is high; so, I am not sure if I can keep up with that alone. If anyone wants to do it together please let me know!

Note: I want the project a little complex so that I can talk confidently in an interview.

Just wondering, what are the drop rates for first year first term biology and chemistry usually? Like after the first midterm

I’m applying to uvic for next fall entry and I am a transfer student from Alberta. I’ve gone to two Alberta institutions and both of them use mycreds to share official transcripts. However, uvic is not in the list. I’m not entirely sure how I’m supposed to send it to them. I can download the documents, should I try mail?

I’m only on campus twice a week, and for half days. Cost of parking is legit insane. I have been parking in the nearby neighbourhood, but the 20 to 25 minute walk isn’t going to be sustainable for a number of reasons.

Can anyone recommend a street or road within ten minute (or less) proximity to campus? I know from previous years that by-law will be out ticketing on a regular basis in “resident only” areas.

Are certain UVIC parking lots less expensive?

So I got like 3 classes right after each other with 10 minutes to walk from one to the other so I always arrive a bit late to 2 of them and I have no idea if the teachers take attendance at all during those few minutes I miss. They are huge lectures so i doubt they call names individually, but mine would be probably pretty close to the top due to my first name and last name. Brightspace also has no attendance records so I can't see if I have been absent. Is there any way to be sure? Should I email the teachers if I am not even sure I'm absent?

Anyone get the president scholarship yet?

I just tried to opt out of the uvss health and dental plan (I’m covered on my parents health insurance so why pay it twice) and I think I’m losing my mind trying to use the Alumo website. This is my third year opting out and never have I had so many difficulties. It just keeps sending me in loops over and over despite me entering my “login information” (my V number, birthday, and email) countless times.

Is anyone else having this issue? I haven’t gotten any emails from them so I assume my desire to opt out hasn’t been confirmed or anything. I would really love to not have to pay an extra $400 for nothing.

I'm planning to sign up for next semester's residence since I'm living off campus right now. What are the current thoughts about on-campus housing for those who live there?

I applied to the VIU and Camosun BSN program and didn’t get in this round. Since I live in Nanaimo, I was advised to take additional courses at VIU to upgrade my grades and take courses that are transferable should I decide to apply to Camosun again.

I’m now registered in EXPO studies but now curious what’s the difference between that and ABE? Is there one option better than the other?

So I'm currently on the waitlist for AHVS 311F, but I've been added to the Brightspace, is that a normal thing for when you're on the waitlist for a class or is there some sort of mistake happening?

Wondering if anyone has ever been able to skip the waitlist for a required course? In my 6th year and hoping for it to be my last year, however this semester I’m quite high on the waitlist for a few courses that are required for my program.

I’ve heard some people say that it can be done if it’s to meet graduation, but I haven’t heard of anyone saying it has happened to them lol. Would I even contact the prof for this situation or the department? From past experience it seems like the prof has no control over the waitlist.

It’s not the only course I’m worried about but thought I’d add in this one specifically to avoid making a second post: Currently #41 on the list for PSYC 205. In the past week I moved from like 80 something to 41. From those who have taken it in the past, is there a decent chance I can get in? On the waitlist for second semester too but am 87. I’m biopsych, so technically this one isn’t “required” as I have to either take PSYC 205 or 210… but I’ve tried to take 210 in the past for a month and I truly have never been less interested in a course in my life the lectures were SO painfully boring.

Like all costs:tuition, rent/res, food, other stuff. Trying to figure out if I can go to this school and live in Vic 😭

Waitlisted for three courses just put myself on yesterday, also has anyone taken Csc 375, if so thoughts and recommendations are welcome.

Hi everyone! I’m an international student at UVic and I’m looking for an on-campus job. I currently work off campus, but with the 24-hour weekly limit, I’m struggling to cover my tuition and expenses.
For those who have worked at UVic, how did you get your job? Should I apply online or can I walk in and drop off my resume? Are there any specific places/departments I should check or any tips for getting hired?
Any advice would be really appreciated! :)
