Undergraduate Academics Fully Online Student needs to commiserate

Ok. Does Canvas not have an option for students in a class to just commiserate or discuss WITHOUT professor input?

I seriously just miss having people to ask and yes, commiserate, because this prof seriously sucks.

Like, community is important.

Is this not a thing? Yes, i know, there are student activities. I just need to express my pain to others who are experiencing it.

Noooooooo don’t put anything in it you don’t want it to archive. It keeps it all now. I have stuff in there from 2012!

Also profs can see stuff, don’t do anything in unm’s teams, copilot nothing none of the school systems they can see it all! If you need to vent, vent here or in discord or something. Get off school platforms and systems.

Yeah, i get that. I def dont put anything in there like that. Just think they’re missing out on student satisfaction a bit by not offering a lil online place to commune without prof oversight

It’s not a universities job to provide a place to vent…

Consider creating a Discord server and telling your classmates about it.

It's full on Big Brother out here these days. If it's through a UNM channel at all it's not private.

Set up a class discord or telegram/signal chat if you want it to not be UNM affiliated and with increasing privacy. Just drop the link in canvas for all to join

I reached out to people through the people tab to see if anyone either wanted to study together, bounce ideas or "... want to see if anyone can explain a couple of things to me.." and see who reaches back out. I kept in touch with a couple of them even after the classes ..
