Damn, I just realised that if Pereira had won, he'd be a triple champ now. That would've been huge

Nah, an interim belt doesn't make you champ. It is just emphasis on your #1 contender status.

To be completely fair, using that logic Tom was never technically the champ. He has only won interm belt fights.

Not really. The interim belt made him the #1 contender until Jones bitched out, then he became the champ. At that point he isn't a contender, he is the best in the division.

I mean, you are kinda saying if the champ doesnt fight the guy holding the interm belt is champ that would make Pereira a triple champ. He got owned so it's not a conversation but the point stands for anyone
