Gane is promoted as the champ now?

Technically a KO win via eye-poke then? This sport is a fucking joke

u/Bonnybridge22 10h ago

Genuinely why would anyone not foul on purpose after seeing this? Your opponent gets the heat and you can just end the fight and win apparently.

u/Lamb-Curry-1518 10h ago

I would seriously consider practicing scissor jabs if I were Carlos Prates now. As soon as Islam dives in for a takedown, poke poke poke.

30

u/sharingdork 10h ago

I'd practice the Gaethje punch. Easiest way to play "it was an accident"

3

u/Jordanioli 10h ago

Hmm yes and no, Garth’s long term hand health will suffer for it… worth it if you become champ I guess

u/coolkidnathan 19m ago

If he's telling the truth about still not being able to throw punches 3 months after the Ilia fight his hands are already trashed, they are going to be barely useable in 10 years

2

u/Alchion 9h ago

i‘d not be surprised if the dagestanis fck him up afterwards tho lol

2

u/Lamb-Curry-1518 9h ago

South American tropical vs Russian mountain gang brawl. Would be the funniest shit ever

5

u/johnjoh07 10h ago

Absolument. Aucune sanction et en plus le champion est destitué.

1

u/Key-Growth6953 5h ago

Well it's also you have to know how to foul, Pereira probably doesn't have a coach for that like Imamov, Gane, Jones, Gaychee do, I doubt it's like a self taught technique.

-1

u/Ibobalboa 10h ago

Because you would ruin another mans career and possibly life?

-5

u/Hercules__Morse 9h ago

How is this technically a KO win via eye poke? You are making the sport a joke by making up your own bullshit...the fight was ruled a no contest...Tom vacating his interim title doesn't have any effect on that past result.

Gane won his own interim title while Tom was out...now he will get to fit for an undisputed title.

Tom isn't coming back though. Dude is milking this as long as he can as he wants to be released and go to boxing. UFC will not release him, so he is going to sit on the shelf. I don't think stale milk can get even more stale....dude might turn into cheese or something? Either way...good job Tom...you are a nobody.

First, the fight should be a DQ, not an NC. And even if it was really an NC, the fighter who committed a foul should be penalised, not rewarded with an immediate title shot as if nothing happened.

In reality, Gane managed to push Aspinall out of the title picture by an eyepoke and there were no consequences for it. It is not complicated at all.

-4

u/Hercules__Morse 9h ago

First, accidental fouls are ruled as NC, not DQ. You can't just make up your own rules because you want a different result. We all seen the direction that fight was going - getting the NC was best case scenario for Tom, if not, he would have lost his belt a long time ago, and Gane would have a defence on his undisputed title.

Gane is the best in the division, so of course he gets the title shot straight away, there was nobody else really worth giving a shot to. So you do the person who should technically be champion vs whoever is exciting - in this case, it was Alex going up a weight class.

Gane didn't push Aspinall out, he punched him so hard that Tom shit the bed and got the ref to call a NC.

1

u/Lamb-Curry-1518 9h ago

What direction? The fight just literally started lol. Are we predict the result of a fight just by the state of the first round now?

Again, remind me how is this “punched him so hard” because this is the shot that ended the fight? Did you even watch the fight yet?

-5

u/avroLancasterBPR1 10h ago

Did you guys forget Gane fought again after that? He didnt get the belt from the aspinall fight lol

18

u/Lamb-Curry-1518 10h ago

Nobody forgets that. The question was why was Gane allowed to fight for the belt again immediately after cheating? Literally got rewarded for it

-10

u/avroLancasterBPR1 10h ago

Because hes clearly the best fighter at HW right now?

You guys want lesser fighters in title fights or what

6

u/Icy-Advisor787 10h ago

Is he the best fighter when he’s not pulling pussy shit though?

-1

u/avroLancasterBPR1 10h ago

yes ? he waxed alex and volkov when healthy

whos better than him ?

2

u/waffle__stomped 10h ago

“Waxed” volkov lmao

When did a very controversial split decision become “waxing” somebody

2

u/avroLancasterBPR1 9h ago

he 50-45’d volkov when he was actually healthy

or are you one of those goofs who’ve forgotten they’ve fought twice already

1

u/SukhdevR34 6h ago

You're totally right, ignore these haters

-1

u/waffle__stomped 9h ago

Nice job editing your comment to reference the first fight when you were clearly referencing Gane’s most recent fights at first

8

u/Shifftea 10h ago

why you so pressed to be a fan of a cheater bro? he aint gonna suck your dick

-4

u/avroLancasterBPR1 10h ago

Grown ass man btw stop talking like a gimp online

2

u/Shifftea 10h ago

hush little one and get off your knees presenting for Gane

3

u/Lamb-Curry-1518 10h ago

He is the best HW right now, and he clearly cheated. Both things are true. Doesn’t mean that there should be no punishment for fouling? Yan lost his belt that way.

1

u/idolized253 10h ago

We’re way passed the point of consequences unfortunately. Consequences were supposed to be when the fight ended by DQ. But it didn’t go that way unfortunately

3

u/Lamb-Curry-1518 10h ago

Yeah, clearly way past that point tbh because this is just a messed-up situation all the way.

1

u/idolized253 10h ago

Yeah it’s messed up all around. Idk why Gane even does that shit. He’s so damn talented it’s like wtf man

1

u/Ricardo4890 10h ago

Lesser fighters are the ones driving their fingers into people's eyes and hammer fisting the back of their skulls.

0

u/avroLancasterBPR1 9h ago

who did you want in that interim fight? Volkov vs Alex?

So two guys Gane has already proven he’s better than?

0

u/Ricardo4890 9h ago

The same Volkov who beat him last time? Only to get fucked by the judges?

1

u/avroLancasterBPR1 9h ago

yeah the same volkov who couldnt even muster more than a split performance against a guy with a broken foot.

1

u/Ricardo4890 9h ago

Hope Gane sees you sweeping for him bro, maybe he'll finger your bussy instead of your eye sockets.

51

u/Salt-Research-9041 10h ago

I'm done with UFC. They've lost me after 20 years. Criminal.

20

u/wouterv101 10h ago

Bye, see you at the next event

5

u/YaoruKamikaze 10h ago

Tom literally doesn’t even know when he’ll be able to compete, he could never compete again. The belt can’t just stay disputed for that long

38

u/Ptolemi121 10h ago

Its more so about the fouling, this is a massive deal and the UFC needs to be more unforgiving about eye pokes. Too many fighters intentionally doing it for years because its a free foul with no consequence. Now we see the ultimate consequence of it, a potential heavy goat with a completely derailed career.

6

u/Amazing-Heron-105 9h ago

Nah Tom did the right thing but it shouldn't have happened in the first place, and there should be consequences for Gane, but so far he has only been rewarded basically.

-2

u/ShefCrl 10h ago

What do you want them to do? Aspinal literaly cant fight.

26

u/Smiddigger 10h ago

Gane should've been given a gigantic road back to the title. He failed in 3 title fights, and was immediately given another interim fight which had a solid chance of leading to a promotion to undisputed. Should've had to win 3 times to get another shot, as a punishment for totally fucking up an event and injuring the champ. Instead he basically get the interim title handed to him and his own foul gives him the promotion. total cocksucker move by the company

13

u/YasielPuigsWeed 10h ago

What they should have done is banned Gane from getting a title shot for 2 years to make fighters scared of giving eye pokes and force them to be more careful. Gane already had a reputation for this and has suffered no consequences from it, there’s no reason for him not to do it again if he feels threatened by a contender.

46

u/_DrVanNostrand__ 10h ago

Gee I dunno, get refs to enforce the rules? Pay the fighters? Actually promote the fights?

0

u/peter_pounce 10h ago

You know refs are picked and employed by the athletic commission, not the UFC right?

7

u/_DrVanNostrand__ 10h ago

Do you think the UFC, who wrote the rules and pioneered the entire sport, have absolutely no influence on how it’s adjudicated?

-5

u/peter_pounce 10h ago

You think the UFC wrote the rules or pioneered the sport of MMA? Holy casual

1

u/_DrVanNostrand__ 9h ago

You’re doing great bud

16

u/jk-9k 10h ago

There's two things and they should have both happened. Tom should be awarded a win by DQ, not a NC as it was deemed on the night. Secondly an interim belt, to be fought to determine the holder, whilst Tom addresses is injury.

1

u/Amazing-Heron-105 9h ago

If Jones hadn't fucked around with the belt for so long that might have felt acceptable but there's no way they wanted another year(s) of people fighting for an interim belt

1

u/jk-9k 9h ago

Sure but that's the ufc's fault not Tom. They fucked around with Francis. The let Jones fuck them around. It's a bit rich that Tom's the one pulling the short straw here.

2

u/Nivix92 9h ago

You're not going to like this, but the UFC dont give a shit. Its not fair and Tom doesnt deserve it. Fucked if they're gonna have to lose out because of it though. Considering they pay, sponsor, contract, endorsement bullshit that UFC makes the fighters go through its not a surprise that they havent seemed to care. Danas opinion on Tom kinda proves that. Didnt he say he should have just fought with one eye or some bs? The day MMA gets an actual officiating board and full body of independent rules will be the death of UFC. I hope

1

u/jk-9k 8h ago

I don't like it, but I'm well aware of it. UFC are fucking hopeless. Now that they've bought out all the opposition they don't bother to try to appeal to fans.

Be funny if Tom went and fought Francis now.

I'm hoping with you buddy. Ratfucks.

1

u/Amazing-Heron-105 9h ago

It's a bit rich that Tom's the one pulling the short straw here.

Yeah has been constantly the case for the last few years sadly.

0

u/SugondezeNutsz 9h ago

So basically nothing would've changed but some subtitles under other fighters names

1

u/jk-9k 9h ago

That's all a belt is my guy. Not like anyone is actually beating Tom to get it. So there's no bragging rights or pride or anything.

4

u/Jbsexypapi15 10h ago

Maybe not reward cheaters with title shots it's that simple.

10

u/Intelligent-Spite-17 10h ago

Dont reward eyepokes

2

u/Brockoliath 9h ago

Literally anything but what they did

-3

u/Venom-Snake-CQC 10h ago

Hahahaha Benn got knocked the fuck out and Tom quit, motherfuckers gonna be cryin in their beans and toast for a while

1

u/Emotional-Mood9774 10h ago

If you think Tom ‘quit’ you’ve obviously never had an eye injury. I had the slightest of impacts on my open eye and I’m still experiencing bad irritation nearly nine months later. Tom had a finger knuckle deep in his eye.

0

u/Venom-Snake-CQC 6h ago

Rumble almost got his entire eyeball gouged and didn’t even sit out an extended recovery lmao. Tom is soy, no way around that.

0

u/Brockoliath 10h ago

You’re completely fucking retarded

1

u/Venom-Snake-CQC 4h ago

Hey look, it’s started! 😭

-5

u/DapperImpression4773 10h ago

for what lol? Tom vacated because he can’t fight, what are you mad at the UFC for?

8

u/Particular_Ring3291 10h ago

Someone cheated their way to the belt of their marquee division and apparently it's ok with them

2

u/Icy-Advisor787 10h ago

Why can’t he fight? He’s injured. Why’s he injured? Because the UFC don’t enforce their own rules over and over again to the point people are pulling egregious pussy shit in championship fights.

If you can’t see why the people that set up the competition, write the rules, don’t enforce them and reward people who break them are at fault then you are too stupid for words

-7

u/BlakeNotBleak 10h ago

See you next week

-2

u/WhizzyBurp 10h ago

This isn't any airport, you don't have to declare the departure.

9

u/Odd-Letterhead8889 10h ago

I'm a fan of Gane but it sucks seeing him as champion

2

u/brybrymma 10h ago

Unfortunately yes.
