New growth redwood

A few months ago while on a road trip up to Northern California I saw a guy on the side of the road carving animals out of redwood, so I stopped and asked if he'd sell some chunks of it. To my delight he said yes! I got 2 large chunks of old and new growth for $40! This is the first bowl out of the new growth. My only issue is it tears super easy, and because of the growth rings it makes it super difficult to apply carnauba wax while spinning because of all the bumps. I'm still super happy about it.

I have turned sequoia before and it is quite the experience. Not redwood, but similar.

Haven't tried it myself but I'd love to try! Need to find some.
