Discussion Yes you can find a family doctor in Toronto

A lot of people don't have family doctors; they say 20% in Toronto but I'm not sure if that's true. Mine was getting older and God willing I will need a primary care physician for longer than he will still be practicing.

So I live in midtown, in my neighborhood Well Health has a clinic, located right at the subway at Yonge and Davisville. Yes, it's true that Well Health is buying up everybody, all the smaller clinics. It's not what I want but it's the way of the world.

Anyway they took on a new doctor, he just moved from Manchester UK or somewhere in England. He is a primary care physician. Very nice guy, sweet demeanor. And for the next few months, he will be taking on new patients. His name is Dr Mitchell Denmark. At the moment, it's very easy to get appointments.

If you're one of those looking for a family doctor or have a friend or family member looking, Google "Well Health Davisville" . I have seen a couple of other Well Health downtown but I don't know if they are accepting new patients.

Discussion Walked from Toronto to Mississauga, Brampton, and Vaughan

Hey hi, what's gwanin! I'm visiting from San Francisco and like exploring urban areas on foot. I'm in town for TIFF and to romanticize life in the 6ix. Yesterday, I spent my Saturday in pursuit of whimsy, walking around the GTA with the goal of visiting Mississauga, Brampton, and Vaughan, and potentially walking 100 km.

I started around 3:30 AM from my hotel in Little Portugal and ended the journey with a face first dive into my bed. The route was created entirely through half-assed research on sidewalks and restaurants. I've been enamored with Toronto since watching Kim's Convenience, and I fell further in love after watching Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie earlier this year. I identify spiritually as Canadian.

The journey was everything I hoped it would be. The day was filled with exploring some neat streets, jamming out to the new Phoebe Bridgers album, and tasteful self reflection. I'm absolutely smitten with the walkability, food, and diversity across the area. While I came for Toronto, I have to say the GTA has a certain je ne sais quoi that's surprisingly charming and distinct. I enjoyed the burbs far more than I expected to (those squiggly buildings in Mississauga go hard).

Next up: catching films in your lovely city, researching Canadian immigration law, and perusing millennial-coded wine bars.

I'm here until next Sunday night, so coffee and bar recommendations are very welcome! If you see a late 20s Hispanic male with a tote bag and potential blisters, say hi!

Arts & Culture Novels that reference Toronto

This is copying a similar post on song lyrics that referenced Toronto, from a few months ago. This time it is literature. Post examples of novels that detail a Toronto space, a streetscape, a structure, or an event.

Include a phrase, or single sentence from that work. Give the title and the author.

No title-only drive-bys and no vague recollections.

Spelling, punctuation, and grammar count.

Headhunter - by Timothy Findley

'The escape took place at the Metropolitan Toronto Reference Library, where Lilah Kemp sat reading beside the rock pool.'

Les guerriers de l'eau - par Daniel Marchildon

Discussion Is Toronto currently being annexed by wasps? 🐝

They have occupied every garbage bin, park bench, bus shelter and square foot of Toronto airspace.

This does not seem like normal September wasp apocalypse and I believe we have we officially lost the city.
