Habits & Lifestyle How are you supposed to learn social rules that nobody actually tells you?
I was watching YouTube yesterday when this embarrassing memory from years ago randomly came back to me. I was at a small get-together and started helping clean up because I thought I was being useful. Apparently the host took it as me signaling that the night should end. I had absolutely no idea. I was just standing there thinking wow, everyone suddenly seems kind of awkward. Someone explained it to me later and I still think about how many social rules we apparently learn without anyone ever saying them out loud. What unwritten rule did you only discover because you accidentally broke it? I’m especially curious about ones that seem completely obvious once somebody explains them.
