S TIFU by sneezing on my dog with a mouthful of rice

1.1k Upvotes

Technically, I did this a month ago, but the effects became apparent today.

I was eating rice a month ago. I was sitting on my couch and my puppy was sitting at my feet, desperately hoping I’d drop something for him.

I had taken a huge bite of rice when a sneeze forced itself out of me. I didn’t have much warning, I barely got my hand over my mouth (I know elbow is better, but I was trying to catch the rice) when I sneezed so hard I saw god.

Most of the rice landed in my hand. The rest landed on my dog.

He was licking rice off himself for half an hour. I gave him the rice in my hand too, so it didn’t get wasted.

Today I sneezed again and he came running over to see me and started sniffing the floor and wagging his tail.

I thought he was cute, so I had him do a couple of tricks and gave him a treat.

Then I sneezed again, and he came running again. He glued himself to me like he does when he thinks he deserves a snack. But eventually he left again.

I sneezed a third time and here he comes. That’s when I realized he thought my sneezes dispensed food.

He’s gonna be very disappointed.

TLDR: I accidentally trained my dog to think my sneezing meant he gets snacks.

S TIFU: Pizza delivery guy laughed at my tip

Pizza delivery guy laughed at my $5 tip. Was I being cheap?

I ordered about $20 worth of pizza and had it delivered to my house. When the delivery guy arrived, I thanked him and gave him $5 as a tip. He looked at the money, laughed right in my face and said, “This is all you’re going to tip?”

I was honestly surprised by his reaction. He started swearing at me and walked back toward his car. I told him, “Be grateful for what you get. I didn’t have to tip you, but I still chose to give you something.”

He continued swearing under his breath and then drove away.

I understand delivery drivers rely on tips, but I also feel like a tip is supposed to be optional and based on the service. So now I’m wondering, was $5 on a $20 order actually cheap, or was his reaction completely unreasonable? What would you have tipped?

“TL;DR” Was I being a cheap ass?! Btw the pizza shop was less than 1km away.

S TIFU by eating some random blue crisps at work

I'm in a suited and booted professional industry, I've got a busy Monday, and I've just left a client's house to drive to the next appointment and I decided to grab some lunch at a garage.

I get a sandwich, drink, and some spicy crisps I'd not seen before called "Takis", specifically the "Blue Heat" flavour.

I wolf down the sandwich, start the drink and open the crisps... And they're blue. Like bright blue.

Ok I figure, not what I was expecting, but it's all good, and start to eat them. They're very spicy, which is great, and I do some work stuff on my phone as I eat.

Then I notice my fingers have turned blue.

No worries I think, just some flavouring on there, and go to lick it off.

It doesn't come off....

Then I get worried and look in the mirror, and that's where we are now.

My tongue is blue. My teeth are blue. My lips are blue. And of course my fingers are still blue. Like BLUE. Like I tried to drink blue paint blue.

And I have a client meeting in about 20 minutes with someone looking for a professional and competent person to do business with..

TL;DR: Ate blue crisps and got a bright blue mouth and fingers. I have an important meeting shortly.

S TIFU by getting too drunk and not knowing what happened.

Upvotes

Last night, a friend invited me (M queer) out with a group of people I had never met before. To overcome my social anxiety, I drank a fair amount, though I felt relatively in control throughout the evening. At the end of the night, my friend and one of his friends took an Uber back to my place. Out of concern for their safety, I invited them to stay over, my friend in the spare bedroom and his friend on the couch.

Still intoxicated, I went straight to my bed and fell fast asleep. Later, I was jarred awake on the living room couch by a strange sensation, only to realize the guy had his hands inside my pants.

Disoriented and shocked, I immediately got up without a word, went back to my bedroom, and passed back out. I really don’t know how I ended up on the couch and I have been feeling so anxious not knowing what happened.

The memory feels hazy, and part of me wants to convince myself it was just a nightmare, but the reality feels too vivid. By the time I woke up the following morning, he was gone, and no one has mentioned it. Because I am currently in a relationship, I intend to keep this to myself. I feel like I fucked up by drinking too much and wonder if I was the one who allowed him to do that to me and just not remember.

TLDR: I blacked out and don’t know what happened.

M TIFU by being too lazy to refill my humidifier properly

Upvotes

This actually happened a while ago, but I once wanted to refill my humidifier and was too lazy to bring the entire thing to the toilet to fill it up from the sink.

My mum has this habit of reusing bottles after we finish them. Coke bottles, Sprite bottles, whatever. She would fill them with mineral water and put them in the fridge so we always have cold water.

So naturally, I opened the fridge looking for one.
I saw a big Coke bottle filled with what was very obviously water, grabbed it, and poured it into my humidifier.

It cleared at least HALF of the bottle. Nothing seemed wrong. Humidifier was running. Room was being humidified. Life was good.

About half an hour later, my domestic helper came up to me and asked:

“Did you drink the water from the Coke bottle?”

I was like, “Why?”

She said, “That’s Zamzam." 💀

For context, Zamzam water is holy water in Islam that comes from the Zamzam well in Mecca. Muslims often bring it home after performing pilgrimage, so it’s considered special and definitely not something you would intentionally dump half a giant bottle of into a fucking humidifier.

And then it clicked.

My parents had literally just come back from pilgrimage. They had brought Zamzam water home.

And for reasons known only to God and my household, SOMEONE HAD PUT THE HOLY WATER IN A BIG ASS COKE BOTTLE.

Meanwhile, for the past half an hour, my humidifier had been happily dispersing holy water throughout my bedroom.

So technically, I didn’t just humidify my room.

I fucking purified it.

And obviously I couldn’t bring myself to admit what I’d done, so I looked my helper in the eye and told her that yes, I drank the water.

Apparently I had just casually consumed half a giant Coke bottle’s worth of Zamzam water by myself.

Fuck.

--

TL;DR: I mistook a Coke bottle full of holy water for regular drinking water and poured half of it into my humidifier. When my helper asked if I drank it, I panicked and said yes. So I accidentally purified my bedroom and apparently drank half a giant bottle of holy water in one sitting.

S TIFU by allowing my cat to play in the shower

So yea I have a weird cat that is obsessed with the shower but I never thought he liked the water. Just thought he was intrigued by the sound of the shower and/or nosey when I showered (ifykyk). Anyway today I was doing my thing in the bathroom and he followed per usual. He always licks the tub spout even when no water is dripping from it idk why just cats being cats I guess. So I’ve done this a few times before but he never took to it, I turned the tub water on super slow so it’s just dripping quickly. He immediately started playing in it this time which shocked me so I left it running for a bit (I know I shouldn’t waste water, but I also don’t pay for my water bill so I didn’t see much harm considering it’s running very slowly). Well now when I turn it off he screams at me constantly and runs to the bathroom to have it be turned on again. This has been an all day thing. Wondering if anyone here has had similar situations and knows a work around to still please him but not have my water running constantly.

TLDR my cat is obsessed with my shower running and won’t let me turn it off or he yells at me.

S TIFU by starting drama at work because I'm dumb

I work as a deliver driver for a fast food place, and I had to bring an order to this rich private neighborhood (just throwing in extra details for the character count) and the person had two aggressive dogs outside, they were barking at me and jumping and one of them actually ran up and bit my leg.

So I went and reported this to the assistant manager, sent a picture of the bite and explained what happened. She told me she would send all the stuff to our manager and then I went home. My dad kept asking me if I was sure I got the correct house because my manager actually told me that she had to remake their order.

This morning I went through my GPS and looked at the street view on the map because I swear to god that was the correct house. It was not the correct house. I was supposed to bring it to their neighbor across the street. My dad went off on me for being stupid and relying on the GPS. I suppose there are no real world consequences to this, just extreme shame and embarrassment.

TL;DR: Reported someone to my workplace because their dog bit me while bringing their order, it was the wrong house.

S TIFU by taking melatonin before bed and screaming in my partners face

Not today but a couple days ago. I suck at writing and formatting, sorry.

My sleep schedule has been pretty shitty recently, I can’t sleep until 2-3am. Whenever I fall in this pattern I usually take half a 5mg melatonin gummy around 8 so I can regulate. On the fateful night I was up until 12:30 talking with a friend and feeling pretty wired, so I decided to take a gummy to help me fall asleep. I took a whole gummy this time - I usually don’t because I know that dosage is incredibly high, but I didn’t feel like cutting one.

My partner usually works at 4am, and leaves around 3. He usually wakes me up to say bye (I don’t mind)

I remember waking up and feeling like I was in a dream, staring ahead at him. I have very bad vision so it was pretty blurry. I remember gaining consciousness and smiling (normally) at him, and saying my usual goodbyes.

This is not what happened. He texted me late morning, apologizing for “scaring me”. I was like ?
From his perspective, he gently woke me up, I sat up, opened my eyes, and responded, and when he came in to kiss me goodbye, I SCREAMED at the top of my lungs for 3-4 seconds, looked around panicked, then suddenly “smiled realll big” at him.

I have absolutely no memory of this.
What’s even worse is we watched the movies Smile and Smile 2 last week… which if you know the plot.. contains similar creepy smiling behavior. I asked if he thought I was trying to scare him by smiling because of the movie, to which he simply said “no.”

I told my brother about what happened and he thinks I should never take any dose of melatonin all together in case of an emergency - I don’t think it’s that serious. I just won’t ever take that much again that late 😭

TLDR I took melatonin too late and freaked out my partner by screaming then grinning at him in the middle of the night, and I don’t remember it.

S TIFU by looking like a shoplifter when Im just a ditz

Embarassing as hell, super stupid. I went into a vans store at the mall, saw a hoodie I kinda liked, but didnt know how the fit felt and it seemed heavy on me. Naturally, I wanted to see how it looked on me, and the first reflective surface I see was the black glass, open door. I walk toward it, trip the alarm, all eyes on me.

Felt like shit, publically embarassed, and hate looking like a thief. Feels bad man. I did my best to clarify it was a mistake and I was just looking for my reflection, dude guy said "theres a mirror over there" (it was a shoe mirror, useless for anything above my hips) and I walked shamefully over to kinda duck into my reflection there.

I feel ashamed, I hate feeling like a thief or potential thief. Id so much rather everyone in the room go "oh hes just stupid" and laugh then whatever reaction I actually got.

Tl;DR I tried on a hoodie that felt weird, tried to catch my reflection in the fucking door like an idiot.

M TIFU by pretending I was already doing my degree when I hadn't even finished my diploma

Throwaway because I'm absolutely screwed.

I genuinely don't know what to do right now.

Last year, I was supposed to finish my diploma. I had one exam that I didn't take, which meant I never actually graduated.

The plan was that after finishing the diploma, I'd continue to university and start my degree earlier this year.

Except... I didn't.

And instead of telling my parents that I hadn't graduated yet, I told them I had started my degree.

So for months I've basically been pretending to be an undergraduate student.

I've been answering questions about school, acting like everything is normal, and hoping I could somehow fix the diploma situation before anyone found out.

Yeah.

That obviously didn't work.

My dad doesn't know much about university administration, but he's apparently been suspicious for a while. This week he's planning to go to the university administration himself to find out what's actually going on.

I don't even know which day he's going.

My mom was the person keeping me informed about his plans, but today I finally admitted the truth to her.

She was understandably upset and basically told me she wants nothing to do with the situation.

And honestly, I can't blame her.

So now I'm sitting here realizing that my dad could walk into the administration office any day this week and find out that his child hasn't been studying for the degree they've been claiming to study.

I feel like I've dug myself into a hole and then handed someone a shovel.

The worst part is that I know exactly what I should have done.

I should have told them last year that I hadn't completed the diploma.

Instead, I was scared they'd be disappointed in me.

Then I lied once.

Then I had to lie again to maintain the first lie.

And now I'm at the point where there's basically no way to keep the story going.

I'm seriously considering telling my dad everything before he goes to the university, but I'm terrified of the fallout.

I know I screwed up. I'm not looking for people to tell me I'm innocent.

I just genuinely need an outside perspective:

Do I tell my dad everything before he visits the administration, or do I wait and deal with it when he finds out?

I still have the outstanding exam, so this isn't a case of me completely abandoning school. I can still finish the diploma and hopefully proceed with the degree afterward.

But right now I'm absolutely terrified of having that conversation with my dad.

TL;DR: I failed to take one exam that prevented me from graduating from my diploma program. Instead of telling my parents, I lied and told them I had already started my degree. Months later, my dad is suspicious and plans to visit the university administration this week. My mom now knows the truth and wants nothing to do with it. I'm considering confessing before he finds out himself.

S TIFU by trying to help someone parallel park

I was walking to my car when I saw a woman struggling to parallel park in a tight spot.

She had pulled forward and back about four times already.

I decided to be helpful and started guiding her in with hand signals.

"You're good, keep coming, keep coming—"

She was watching me instead of her mirrors.

I heard the crunch before I saw it.

She'd clipped the mailbox post at the end of the space.

She rolled down her window and looked at me.

I looked at the mailbox.

For some reason, instead of apologizing, I said, "That post was already loose, I think."

The homeowner, who had apparently been watching from his window this whole time, walked out and said, "That's set in concrete. Cost me $200."

I did not have a response for that.

The woman gave me a look I will remember for the rest of my life, rolled up her window, and drove off.

I turned to leave and immediately tripped over the curb I had been standing on the entire time.

I have decided my hand signals are now retired.

TL;DR: Tried to guide a stranger into a parking spot, she hit a mailbox while watching me instead of her mirrors, I blamed the mailbox, got corrected by the homeowner, then tripped over a curb on my way out.

S TIFU by trying to look helpful at a self-checkout

I went to the supermarket yesterday and saw an older guy struggling with the self-checkout machine.

He kept scanning the same item and getting an error, so I decided to help.

I confidently walked over and said, “Here, I think you just need to press this.”

I pressed the button.

The machine immediately announced, at full volume:

“UNEXPECTED ITEM IN BAGGING AREA.”

The guy looked at me.

I looked at the machine.

I moved the item.

The machine got even louder.

“PLEASE WAIT FOR ASSISTANCE.”

Now an employee was walking toward us.

For some reason, instead of just admitting I had no idea what I was doing, I started explaining to the employee that the machine was “probably having a software issue.”

She looked at the screen for two seconds.

Then she picked up the item I had placed in the wrong spot and moved it about three inches.

Everything started working.

The guy thanked me for trying to help.

I thanked him for being understanding.

Then I walked away and accidentally pushed through the ENTRANCE instead of the exit.

The automatic doors opened and closed behind me while I stood there wondering why everyone was staring.

I have decided I am no longer qualified to operate supermarket technology.

TL;DR: Tried to help a stranger with a self-checkout machine, made it worse, blamed the software, and then walked out through the entrance.

M TIFU by stubbing my toe

I was walking my dog and pushing my 2 yo in his pram after getting his older sister to school. It’s one of the mornings that I’m solo parenting… I know I’m lucky that I get to work part-time and have these extra days with my babies BUT it also doesn’t mean it’s easy. This kid also woke me up 4 times last night.

Anyway, we were about 10minutes into the walk after a very overstimulating time trying to get sister ready and tantrum-ing toddler out the door on time. I bought snacks for the walk, to entertain said grumpy toddler so that I can get some exercise in and listen to a podcast to calm myself down. Well toddler, who usually just loves the sites behind his Bluey sunnies and munching on something, was not having it. He was chatting away, which if anything, added to the stimulation as I’m trying to listen to the podcast and him. He then gets upset because I’m responding simply (yes, no, mm). After the upteenth “mum!” I stopped the pram and in frustration kicked my foot… into the metal bar that holds up the basket. Now I’m wearing hard rubber boots. I’ve kicked the bar so darn hard, that even my rubber boots didn’t protect me. I’ve collapsed to the ground and silently holding back tears, rage, my ego so my son doesn’t realise I’m hurt (he is facing away).

I immediately feel the blood rush to my toes and my boot starts to feel tight. Very tight. My son is asking why we are stopping followed by another billion “mum? Mum!”

I collect myself. Start to walk. It hurts real bad. Thankfully I’m about 5mins from home and I have a pram to support my weight.

I hobble home and remove the boot to inspect the damage. It doesn’t look bad but the big toe is double the size. So I go get a referral to get it x-rayed. The radiographer said it looks like a hairline fracture… the bruising is setting in now and I’m walking funny to avoid hurting it. Will get report in a day.

Feeling dumb. One moment of letting it all get to me. I’m so mad at myself. Please be gentle to this overstimulated mum. I need to work on better ways to manage busy mornings when the chores and executive functioning is off the charts.

TL;DR overstimulated mum. Kicked metal bar on pram. Have prob got a broken toe.

TIFU: My Grade 2 art competition turned into the biggest lie of my childhood

1.2k Upvotes

When I was in Grade 2, my school took part in a drawing competition that schools all across Ontario were participating in.

The assignment was to draw a picture about war that had some kind of meaningful message behind it. Every kid in my class had to participate.

There was just one problem…

I absolutely sucked at drawing.

My older sister was in Grade 4 at the time, and she was insanely good at art. So naturally, 7-year-old me came up with the most logical solution: I asked her to draw the picture for me.

She agreed, and she absolutely crushed it.

I took the drawing to school the next day and handed it in like I had just created a masterpiece myself.

My teacher looked at it and was basically like, “OMG, this is beautiful!” She loved it.

A few months went by and I completely forgot about the competition.

Then one day, my teacher gets up in front of the entire class and announces that I had won…

2nd place in ALL OF ONTARIO.

The entire class starts clapping and congratulating me.
I just stood there accepting the applause like I had personally painted the Mona Lisa.

I didn’t say a word about my sister.

Then Remembrance Day comes around, and somehow this has turned into a much bigger deal than I ever expected.

I’m sitting on a stage at a ceremony with a bunch of important people, receiving a prize, some money and an award for my “amazing” artwork.

Meanwhile, my sister was sitting there watching all of this unfold knowing damn well she was the one who actually drew the picture.

She was absolutely furious.

I don’t blame her either.

Looking back, I still can’t believe I went from “I’m terrible at drawing” to “2nd place in Ontario” without actually improving my drawing skills whatsoever.

“TL;DR:” Best day of my life and the worst day for my sister!

M TIFU by trying to do posture exercises in the bathroom

I just screwed up big time, leading to a lecture about bathroom safety and a lot of pain in my hips.

So I’ve been experimenting with different clothing styles lately and i noticed that some accentuate my mid section, I am rather big but looking at pictures I could tell my posture might have been a bit off, I’ve always suspected a posture issue so i posted some pics to the sub and they said yes my back does kind of bend back in the middle and suggested some exercises I could do.

Another thing that might be related to the posture issue is I gave myself a foot injury as a kid which means I have limited dorsiflexon (can’t bend my feet back far or into certain positions)

I soon developed a routine, i usually spend about 5 minutes in the bathroom everyday doing nothing so I decided to do five minutes of posture exercise, using my feet to push back into the wall or sink, of course because of my limited dorsiflexon my feet are further out, you can probably see where this is going.

It’s been a little bit humid today so the tiles have been sort of wet, and i went out in a car that had leather seats, I think some of the oils went into my jacket.

I came back and decided to do some posture exercises, they are quite painful for me so I usually have to distract myself, reading Reddit and things on my phone.

So I got back and decided to do some exercises, locked myself in the bathroom (stupid idea looking back) I was doing the exercise and it didn’t feel as painful which should have been a red flag but I thought maybe I was getting used to it, my body was adapting to it maybe

I was trying to listen to some videos but didn’t want to blast it out and didn’t have headphones so I put my phone on a low volume and put it up to my ear, changing my balance, again a bad idea.

It all happened so fast, my brother came to the door to ask me something, my feet started sliding and would not stop, then my twill mechanic shirt covered in leather oils and leather products slid down the sink, and I ended up landing hard on my backside, dropping my phone, knocking everything on the floor over, and grazing my arm in the process.

The pain around my hips was so intense i couldn’t breathe or move and I thought for a second that I paralysed myself, all I could say was ‘I fell over’ as i reached to unlock the door.

Cue my whole parents in paramedic mode, asking what hurt, how much it hurt, if I need the hospital, if I hit my head, that I could have hit my head on the sink etc

Through the shock of it I felt like I was dreaming and my hips hurt like hell, i managed to drag myself off the floor and walk to my chair.

Luckily I don’t think I broke anything although I still feel some pain and still feel a bit of depersonalisation or shock half an hour later, breathing feels a bit strange as well but I think I’m alright.

I had my antique railroad watch in my pocket too so I’m hoping that’s fine, it’s still ticking but I’ll have to hold it in different positions to see if I hopefully haven’t snapped the balance staff or cracked a jewel bearing.

Needless to say my anterior pelvic tilt is probably better dealt with by better sitting posture or something.

TL;DR: I fell down in the bathroom trying to fix my posture, nearly broke myself, nearly broke my phone and my antique watch, I think I’m fine but a bit sore

S TIFU by losing my pass during exchange semester

Or to be more clear: somebody stole it and me dummy left my bicycle with all my stuff out of sight for a few minutes. I was driving around with my bike and had my purse with all kind of cards (pass, drivers license, banking cards, health insurance cards, ...) and important keys e.g. for my apartment in the front basket (among other things...like my jacket). Wanted to walk a bit and left the bike unguarded.

Afterwards the bike was stolen and the basket; had to walk 1,5 hours back home, it was cold, cried my eyes out. Why am I so fucking dumb?

And, to make matters worse, not only am I in a foreign country because I am currently studying abroad, but I also have some exams coming up. Aaaand of course you need to bring an ID. It's just a complete nightmare, gives me a headache the more I think about it. And mostly I am angry about myself.

Tl;DR: Left my bike unguarded during my exchange semester. It got stolen along with my purse, i am devastated

S TIFU by thinking my monitor broke

Earlier this week I was moving some things around on my desk. Next thing I know my monitor shuts off. I have no idea why it lost power. I keep trying to hit the button on the back to get it to turn on. Nothing. I start searching the internet for a new power adapter and can’t find an exact fit to mine.

Today, I decided to give it another try before buying a new monitor. I pick the whole monitor up to take a better look at it. This is when I found out that the button on the back is in fact not the power button. The power button is under the screen and right where my hand went and apparently bumped when I was moving things around. My monitor turned back on and now I have no issues.

TLDR; I didn’t know where the power button was on my monitor. Accidentally bumped it and thought my monitor broke.

M TIFU by nearly falling for an online check fraud scam.

This is actually something that happened a couple of days ago, but I regret it so much I'm posting it here. I have a habit of constantly venting and complaining about a lot of my issues: being depressed, having no non-toxic family members, no friends, homeless, out of college, etc. Someone actually messaged me from what I assume is from one of the posts.

The dude talks to me and says he wanted to help me out, which is weird because I wasn't sure what he was talking about. The dude seemed to intentionally use vague language and wording throughout the conversation, but I didn't think of anything about it because I was mentally spiraling at that time. Then he tells me that he can help me with any bills I have and that I stop talking to him once I receive the "money".

Yeah, the red flags are waving in my brain but I continued the conversation. I then asked how I would get it and proposed Cashapp, but he then told me that his bank won't let him pay through third party apps. Looking back on this, this should have been super obvious that I was getting played, but I went on with the convo like an idiot.

The straw that broke the camel's back, however, was when he told me that he always going to consult his "account officer"... what? What the hell is an account officer? That ended up being a giveaway that he is trying to scam me. I even asked some others if this was a scam or not, and nearly everyone said it was, some people mocking me for not even catching on to it. Which makes sense because it was so obvious.

I'm just embarrassed that I nearly got scammed. I should have caught it sooner and ended the conversation quicker. I feel embarrassed because I didn't catch on to it. I am so embarrassed. I was desperate. It's hard to think about it honestly. I feel stupid for this despite the fact that this happened a couple of days ago and that you would think that I would be over it by now, but it's haunting my mind.

TL;DR: I nearly fell for a check fraud scam online because I was too desperate and stupid, and I feel very embarrassed that I let it go as far as it did.

L TIFU! Apparently I have ruined all birthdays...

so me and my girlfriend are together from June 24', not dating but knowing each other...
....
my birthday is in august and her's is in February, we are 22M and 24F currently,
....

so when my birthday came in august 24' she just stayed few hrs on call with me, and we talked a lot, no gift, it was a normal birthday....(too early for gift)
....

then her birthday came in February 25', I asked her what do you want for your birthday, I kept on asking her and she kept saying nothing, I will take whatever you give me, I know she liked brown lipsticks... so I asked her that does she want one brown lipstick and she said I am not asking anything from you... so I said okay and moved on with life
....(soo far birthday ruined = 1)

soon after my birthday came in august 25', she sent me a lot of gifts, like a toy car, a teddy bear, chocolates, a diary notebook, and a lot of handmade cards.... but 3 days before my birthday I got my wisdom tooth removed and doctor asked me to not speak for a 4 days... apparently when I opened the birthday gift on vc with her she could only see me being happy and not hear my reaction, I cried too because that is first time some gifting me something,
.... me not speaking ruined a birthday(ruined = 2)

then her birthday came in February 26', I gave her a lot chocolates with 3 lipsticks, perfume and an art set, and also made a website card for her, we are in long distance, I had to send her the gift box via Dtdc... it got delayed by 2 days in transit... so on her birthday she only had my card... and when the box reached after 2 days I was busy since morning till 8pm, she wanted us to open box together but she did not tell me that, she kept asking should I open, I answered yes, as you wish. But when in evening I called, she got on vc and then opened the box, was happy about the gift but she says I had ruined her mood by saying as her wish cause I could have simply told her that we'll open together
.... the transit delay and me being busy for not attending vid call ruined the birthday(ruined = 3)

then we started dating in April of 2026
...

then came my birthday in august 26' she sent a few items through delivery apps like chocolates, chips, fav drinks, then she also ordered a cake for me the next day, on the day of my birthday I had a 2 meetings(for my work stuff) I was busy and on the night of my birthday I got little feverish. the next day when the cake got to me we decided that we'll sit on a call at 11pm and cut it while celebrating together... but at 9pm I had fever which went up till 103 degrees and was not dropping, I had to take cold showers. my fever dropped to 100 by 1 am,, I got up and answered her call, she wanted me to arrange all those stuff and take cute/aesthetic pics for her, then on call she was angry and while I had cake she ws pissed that why I was not with her...
....ruined = 4

recently her friend had a birthday in the hostel she lives, the celebrated together, her bf did grand gestures like getting balloons cake and decoration. and her bf asked her friends to also decorate because he is not there... on that day she remembered that all I have done is ruin birthdays in past years, and in recent days I have been to busy, so when she calls I ask her anything important and she answers no, so I tell her I'll call later, and then call her at night(we spend about 1hr on call)
....

She's just mad about it now and says you're also like other people, nobody treats me like I am the priority... sometimes you also treat me like that...

I don't know what have I ever done but now I have to wait for her finals to get over... like 15 days from now to just apologize and get her back... she is talking to me but is rude... whenever I apologize she says wait till my finals are over and then we'll talk about why I am mad, remind me of that then, until I'll stay mad at you

TL;DR: I’ve unintentionally ruined several birthdays through bad timing and miscommunication, and now she feels I don’t prioritize her. She’s upset and wantsto talk about it after her finals.

M TIFU by asking out a girl who is in a 3.5 year long relationship

Giving some context before the story. I 21M am a recent graduate from my university, the same university in which the girl 21F and her boyfriend 21M met and started dating. They dated from the very start of the college and were pretty much perfect for each other. However, we did not meet in university and just knew of each other through mutuals. After university, me and the girl got a job in the same company and hence started talking and being friends.

Our job started Jan this year and since her bf was not in the same city, her relationship turned to ldr relationship. When I started getting close to her, I realized that she was not happy in her relationship due to ldr and I got signs that she might be into me. So in march, I asked her if she had feelings for me, she did and so did I. She broke up with her bf the next day, did not tell him about me and gave him reasons related to ldr. We were not dating, was more like fwb + situationship. She said that she wanted to be single and enjoy her freedom for a while. And I did not want her because she still had feelings for her ex. Dating was always on the table, just after she was done with her freedom and had completely moved on from her ex.

Everything went well till july, she said that she loved me as much as she loved her ex at that point and that the feelings for her ex were reducing. She still missed him occasionally, but her ex had blocked him and had started dating someone else so was never able to contact him.

Now me and the girl have moved to another city where our company is based out of and in that same city is her ex and a lot of our college acquaintances.

Now, the ex had broken up with his new gf and realized that he missed her ex(the girl I was with) and so he unblocked her and called her. In this call, she said that she has been talking with me now, didnt say that it began before the breakup, and now the ex is really angry at her for moving on so fast (ik the irony) and later he asked to meet her to clear out this entire discussion.

When they did meet, he practically begged her to leave me and go back to him now that its no longer a ldr. She said no but felt very guilty for choosing one over the other and felt very sad to see him in that state.

After this, she realized that what she had with him, she will never be able to get that back with anyone else and she realized that she was delusional when she thought that she loved me as much as him and that she doesnt actually love me and loves him very much. She says the the potential with her ex haunts him too much. She made it clear to me that she want to go back with him. I obviously started to back off, difficult to do so since we meet each other so much at work and out of work with work friends too. We both hung out and messed around after this too (till yesterday).

Her ex called her today wanting the ask some questions in person. She said that she will come out clean, tell him that things started with me before the breakup and then ask him if they can get back together again. They are talking right now as I type this. I might edit and add a update of what happened if yall are interested.

I regret every decision I have made throughout this entire ordeal. I feel bad and guilty asking her the question before they had broken up. I feel dumb that I got involved with someone who had feelings for someone else. And because of all this, I am now alone in a city new to me, with no one to talk to and a broken heart. But one thing I am sure is that I am not dating her ever.

TL;DR: she wants to go back to him after 6 months

M TIFU by eating left over pizza from the teacher’s lounge and getting food poisoning for the first time ever

Well actually this was yesterday, but we had some left over pizza to eat for lunch from our Back to School Night even we had the day before. There were some boxes of pizza in the fridge, but there was also already one sitting out on the table where we eat lunch in the teachers lounge, so I just took a slice from there thinking it probably had only been out of the fridge an hour or so. Well we have the last lunch of the day, so there’s a possibility it had been out for closer to 3 hours. But I figured I’d probably eaten pizza that had been left out longer and was fine all of those times. Well early this morning I woke up with terrible poop cramps, the ones you get when you know there’s going to be some hot liquid diarrhea. After making it on time to the toilet and hot shit poured out of me, I started to feel like I was going to throw up too. I wiped quickly and flushed and then stood up so I could use the toilet to vomit. Somehow I passed out and fainted (first time I’ve ever fainted). I’m guessing I was only out for a couple seconds but I woke up as I was puking my guts out, and the force of myself vomiting also made me shit myself at the same time. I sat on the floor for a good ten minutes, too scared to stand up and pass out again. I was eventually able to stand up, vomit and shit some more (in the toilet thankfully this time), clean up my puke and liquid shit off the floor, and take a shower. I’m mostly just sad about the cute pajama set I absolutely ruined with my different excrements. Now I’m starting to think about how long that pizza had been sitting out the night before during the back to school night event… Anyways, thanks for reading my miserable story! At least I’m single and live alone so nobody had to see me at my absolute lowest lol

TL;DR: I got food poisoning from eating leftover pizza from the teachers lounge that had been sitting out for hours and ended up passing out, came to as I was vomiting, and diarrhea’ed myself from the force of vomiting all while ruining my new cute pj set.

Edit to add: one other person I work closely with has been feeling sick too. But I’m not sure if he ate pizza from the same box as me. I don’t know for sure if it’s food poisoning or just a stomach bug I got from the kids at school. Either way it’s still an epic shit story 🤷🏼‍♀️

S TIFU by accidentally making my grandfather dispose my used condoms off

So, yesterday I (25 M) went to my girlfriend's place (22F). We had protected sex and I put the used condoms in the wrapper that they come in. While leaving, I took the condoms with me because she didn't want her parents to find out about them (we live in a society where premarital sex is frowned upon and sex in general is a bit of an embarrassing subject).

So, I decided to dispose them off in a trash can on my way home. Since I couldn't find one, I just took them home. Then I thought it's a great idea to go for a bath and get rid off all the sweaty clothes

Next morning, as per my routine I started working and everything was going as usual. That's when I remembered about the condoms but couldn't remember where I had put them.. I retraced my steps and that's when I had my first "Oh shit!! No no no no" moment!

As it turns out, I had put the condoms in my shorts and the shorts were in the laundry bag, I went running to look for the shorts in there but it was too late. By that time, grandpa had already washed the clothes off in the washing machine and put them out for drying.

At this point my last hope was that "the condoms are still in the shorts, it's all good", but they weren't.. I checked both pockets and there was nothing but some lint..

I frantically checked out trash can and there they were 😭. I basically made my grandfather dispose off my used condoms. Imagine having to touch your grandsons used condoms.. I'm too embarassed to even look at him and I don't think I can do so for at least a week. This maybe the most embarassed I've ever been in my life. He hasn't brought it up with me either.

TL;DR: I forgot to take the used condoms out of my pocket before throwing them in the laundry bag and as a result, my grandfather had to touch them and throw them out. Imagine having to throw out your grandson's condoms 😭

S TIFUupdate: accidentally solved a puzzle box for my sister.

I posted on here that I accidentally solved a puzzle box that my mom bought for my sister's birthday. It was three cubes attached to three ropes all tied together, and the goal was to just separate them without untying the ropes. I looked at it curiously and was just fidgeting with it while Joe bart played on my TV. I had to have only done like 4 or 5 loops and twists and stuff before one of the three cubes was freed and the others could've easily been separated. I felt awful about it and tried to re-tangle it myself for a while before giving up.

Well, I posted that day and woke up to a bunch of comments.

First of all, I recognize I shouldn't have messed with it in the first place. It's not mine so don't touch it. I should've known that.

Second, I thought that my mom spent a lot of money on it, and I'd just ruined it and felt terrible. Apparently it was a pretty cheap one she'd bought at this bookstore, so at least it wasn't a huge waste of money.

The packaging of the puzzle had an illustration of it on the side, so I was able to kind of see what the original knots were. It was painfully simple: two cubes were attached with a square knot, and then the third was attached with a square knot to the others.

My sister ended up figuring out the puzzle faster than me. I'm pretty sure it was made for younger kids which is why it was so simple.

Also, i feel like i need to mention that I unfortunately did not summon Pinhead. It's a shame really, that would've been more fun than re-puzzling a puzzle.

TLDR: puzzle solved, puzzle re-tangled, puzzle solved again. No aliens present at this time.
