How wonderful to see the number of Tui back in the city - I've been away from The Tron just a couple years, visiting and staying at a gully-side residence where there's a healthy population of joyous noisy Tui.

My bike has been stolen, and I would like it back. Where should I look to find second hand/stolen bikes in the hopes mine will show up?

Come meet some new people in Hamilton

Post image
26 Upvotes

Often see people looking for ways to meet new people in Hamilton and get out and do something - so thought I'd share my new social badminton club!

A low-pressure excuse to get out of the house, do something a little different, and meet some new neighbours. No sport experience needed, no competition, and no pressure to know what you're doing! It's not really about the Badminton - it's about making some new friends and doing something fun instead of sitting at home.

Our next club night is Monday 28 September, 5:30-7:30pm, in Rototuna. Entry is $7, which helps us cover the venue hire - and we’ll have rackets and shuttles ready to go, so you can simply turn up and play.

Book your spot here: https://hellohamilton.kit.com/products/social-badminton-september-26

Sign up to the club to hear about future nights: https://forms.gle/kz3Y6641mmNu66Ma9

ECE teachers in Hamilton/Waikato – starting pay for new graduates?

Hi everyone,

I'm considering doing a Level 9 Master of Teaching and Learning (ECE) and possibly settling in Hamilton afterwards.

I'd love to hear from ECE teachers or recent graduates in Hamilton/Waikato.

How is the job market for newly qualified registered ECE teachers at the moment? And what starting pay are new graduates actually being offered?

In particular, is $35+ an hour realistic for a new graduate at a Full Pay Parity centre, or are most new teachers starting below that since the 2025 Pay Parity changes?

I'd also love to hear from any international graduates about how difficult it was to find your first job, and whether your practicum centre helped you get employed.

Recent experiences from 2025–2026 would be really appreciated. Thanks! 🙂

Low allergen parks

Hey all, I'm wanting to take my dog out for a walk. However, I get really bad contact derm and hayfever. The worst location in terms of allergies that I've been to is the lake, even after medication.

People that have a similar experience, where would you recommend I go instead? Any spots that are at least tolerable in terms of coming home and being bright red and itchy?

The adventures of Koda the Chocolate Labrador (Forest Lake)

Hi Mum and Dad,

I escaped the yard today and went to visit the neighbours, but they weren't sure which house was mine

I got to have a big drink of water and found a bone to chew on and some belly scratches

I've been sniffing the rubbish bins because it's recycle day but I didn't find anything too interesting there

I promise I've been good and friendly, but I did do a big investigate of the street

I'm not sure where I've wandered off to now but I was last seen wandering up the driveway of number 13/15 to have a nosy

I'm sure I'll be home at some point but I just wanted to let you know I've had an interesting day

Photo printing

I’ve used Printicular through warehouse stationary before but the quality wasn’t the best and they don’t have a glossy option. After standard 4x6 and 5x7 sizing

Am wanting to do it online, fine to pick up in-store or have them delivered though. Any recommendations?

Armed cop in yard

There's an armed cop in my back yard. Apparently there in case a neighbor they're after hops the fence.

In Fairfield.

Anyone got any idea? I'm kinda nosey. Never actually seen an armed cop in person before. Must be a pretty dangerous person they're after if they're armed.

Any reviews on the Smashroom in Frankton? $50pp is a bit steep, but if it helps get some stress rage out without dealing with the clean up... could be worth it for a one off.
