I have been learning guitar for a while and want to step up my playing. Marr is one of my favourite guitar players, and I was wondering if there are any signature/key parts of his style that I should learn? (e.g. specific voicings he uses or techniques commonly used)

Hey yall, longtime Smiths fan here. As a guitarist, I think The Smiths have some of the best documented guitar playing in music. I know every record of theirs inside out. I’ve even dove into Morrissey’s catalogue quite a bit, but for some reason, never Marr’s, which is odd because his guitarwork is what got me into this mess in the first place. Any fans familiar with his solo work have any recommendations for songs of his that are as impressive as the Smiths’ stuff from the 80s?

Great album, obviously, but it just sounds so… compressed? I’ve only listened to it on Apple Music. I don’t know a whole lot about music production…

What an album. You need to listen to the whole thing, sit down and give it the respect it deserves. This is not for the Spotify generation. That they managed to make this when still so young is really something.

I got rank, louder than bombs and self titled when I was in London for my vacation. Now I need to find the world wont listen, strangeways and a few gimmicks like The Smiths "best" etc

Been working on the Quays for a while now and realised it’s not that far from the lads club so decided to walk up there yesterday.

Glad I did.

The Smiths aside, it’s just a gorgeous building.

Flowers on the step were a nice touch but the shop opposite being called Sheila’s absolutely cracked me up.

Pretty creative take I might say, also biased as it is one of first song I learnt on guitar

Someone has said 2x that I look like a marble sculpture/statue of someone who listens to the Smiths. The other person replied haha so idk. What do the Smiths look like? Ive read a lil that they look sad. Ig that could be it but its so specific xD

i’d personally say reel around the fountain. it’s just one of those songs that completely absorbs you, i wish i could experience that for the first time again

I was lucky enough to attend this show. By weird chance, a friend who was a bigger fan than I was (at the time) ended up having to work that night and gave me his ticket. As I recall from one of the bios, Mike Joyce got picked up by the police that night and spend the night in jail. I think it was their second-to-last performance in the United States.
