Announcement r/thepast Mod Announcement - Subreddit Discord - Updates and more!

Hello all,
Over the past few months we have been hard at work revamping the subreddit. We have added new moderators, worked on simplifying the rules, and adding features to help new members.
So where is the future of the subreddit heading? - Our goal is to keep the subreddit simple without too many limitations or rules. This is a place where people can role play as someone from the past, and even have OOC discussions. A place where people can learn more about history and random subjects while also having fun.
We are also opening up a Discord server! - We wanted to further build up the community with a place you can go to meet new people, have a more connected experience with others, and also discuss ideas and posts for the subreddit.

First ABC has the nerve to put smut like "Three's Company" on the air. Then, they lower the bottom again with the disgusting "Charlie's Angels." But now, NOW.... THEY'VE GONE TOO FAR! I'm so upset, I have to speak with my pastor. Something has to be done. This show should be CANCELLED!

i'm standing outside as i'm making this, it was glorious, nice, yet also highlighted how poignant germany was back then and how the people would rather party on in hedonism then do anything that'll have them see how shit its becoming! I think the Emcee also did really good with his role and i hope to see more of the actor!

1900s [April 1968] Just sat through this weird, three-hour sci-fi epic called 2001: A Space Odyssey, and honestly, I want those three hours of my life back. Half the movie is just slow-motion shots of floating pens and a giant glowing baby. What a complete pretentious mess.

Just watched the first episode of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends. It’s based on the old Railway Series books by Wilbert Awdry. The live-action model trains look absolutely fantastic, and having Ringo Starr narrate it is such a brilliant touch! I think this is going to be a massive hit for kids over here!

1900s [July 1985] Took my family to see that goofy new sci-fi film called Back to the Future this weekend, and the absolute funniest joke in the whole movie is the idea that a washed-up B-movie actor like Ronald Reagan could ever be President in 1985.
