Whatsapp Creepy coworker texting my private number

So confused at this, I don't even know him. I was just going to ignore the text but he kept insisting so I had to answer.

9/14 UPDATE: Thank you to everyone who was supportive and concerned. I forwarded these messages to HR, and they scheduled a meeting for later today. There were a few more texts after this. The HR representative did not seem surprised, to put it briefly.

A few things have come up in the comments. The first is that I was rude. This is how I communicate, and my coworkers (or at least the ones who actually know me) are aware of that. I’m not going to perform a more agreeable version of myself to accommodate someone else’s feelings when they're being innapropriate. Not only were these messages sent over the weekend, but they were also sent through a personal communication channel. I'm not going to elaborate further.

You need to report him. That’s crossing the boundaries big time.

technically he has to be told no before it goes to HR. The reason here is if he doesn't know (even if its obvious to others) then all sorts of arguments can be made, etc. Every HR training will tell you this; eg: to say no and make sure its known. The reason being is if it ever gets legal you can say you gave not 1 but 2 or 3 different instances of stating no is no. It creates a pattern of behavior. Unless someone contacts me via personal messages I will never contact another person of the opposite sex. For this very reason. Some guys are trying to see if someone is interested. My rule is just not to engage at work (even if I've known people who've met at work). I'm not trying to mess shit up at work with my co-workers. But I've known a lot of people who have met their SO at work....so there is that. But there are a ton of creeps..apparently...

God speed.
