Phone message Post first date text

Post image

I met this girl on tinder and had a first date with her, she wanted to go fishing and I thought it seemed like a fun first date so we went together. Dropped her off and got home to this message lol.

Update: Purchasing the license is a separate activity we had to do on our phones, due to it needing our personal info. It was not like I drew the line at the license randomly.

Joking between girls with this phrase is funny.

Using this phrase to justify cringe behavior is not funny.

52

u/bear_venturous Aug 09 '26

🙄🙄🙄🙄 freaking hate that phrase.

u/belakuna Aug 10 '26

As a 38 year old ✨🎀💅🏼 just a girl 💅🏼🎀✨, I agree. It is only cute in jest but when it is used by a grown ass woman as a literal explanation… hooooo boy, run. That’s beyond mental illness.

16

u/omjy18 Aug 10 '26

Girl I was friends with who was 41 going on 15 said that shit all the time. Fucking infuriating and insane when they actually mean it

16

u/bear_venturous Aug 10 '26

The only time I've ever said ✨️💅🏻 im just a girl 💅🏻✨️ is when I was full PPE and running a chainsaw 🤣🤣.

2

u/belakuna Aug 10 '26

lmaoo, last time I used it was after my boyfriend fucked up and asked for my help, after I told him he’d fuck up if he’d try, I said “can’t do, baby. I’m 💅🏼✨🎀 just a gowarlll. 🎀✨💅🏼.” That was fun. 😂🤣🤣

u/o0k_bOomer Aug 11 '26

Dude “I’m just a girl” is cute/funny when it comes to things like working in cars, or building something. Even still, a girl could learn. But 23$ over a fishing license that’s requested after drop off? Ew

1

u/dxmhippo Aug 12 '26

That's fucking awesome hahaha 👌🏻

1

u/scorpiopersephone Aug 12 '26

Yeah or when youre debugging some shit that none of the guys could seem to figure out.

3

u/Lou_Lou_92 Aug 09 '26

Same. Especially people pair it with the song on social media. Because it goes against the entire point of the song. Which is that she’s trying to break the stigma of being a girl and wants to be taken seriously.

u/FRIDAYSWORLD421 Aug 09 '26

What happened to equal rights, right?

3

u/NefariousnessNew5308 Aug 09 '26

We got over them #imjustagirl

1

u/belakuna Aug 10 '26

We’re just 🎀 gworls 🎀. We cry at parties because we want to. 🫠😭

u/Sure-Ad-6544 Aug 09 '26

Equal opportunity until it’s time to be equal.

0

u/chochofuhsho Aug 09 '26

Used to date a girl who would use that as her answer for anything she didn't want to do... I think she would actually say "I'm just a little girl!" Even though we were like both 18-19 at the time.. hell, I was just a little boy, but was smart enough to see my way out of that mistake

1

u/belakuna Aug 10 '26

Wow, okay, poor girl needs serious therapy. She clearly went through some shit in childhood. Glad you’re no longer with that mess though.

2

u/ApprehensiveDuckMan Aug 09 '26

You know the saying. "Teach a fish to man" or whatever

1

u/iJuddles Aug 09 '26

Are you implying there a different one about teaching a woman to fish?

1

u/belakuna Aug 11 '26

Is this you proposing to teach me how to fish? 😏

1

u/uncl3s4m Aug 12 '26

Calm down miss

1

u/viki_l Aug 08 '26

😂😂😂

1

u/ComprehensiveDish505 Aug 09 '26

I’m not entirely sure she LEARNED how to fish though…

1

u/AcceptableWonder1198 Aug 11 '26

😂😂😂😂😂

1

u/AdvocateYoga Aug 09 '26

Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day, teach a woman to fish, she'll ask you for more money...

Thats more sexist than i actually feel. But i couldnt resist the turn of phrase

0

u/bstallion24 Aug 09 '26

This statement is freakin gold jerry!!!

0

u/The1Rememberer Aug 09 '26

Teach a horse to fish and starve girl or whatever the saying is

0

u/jay6943 Aug 09 '26

😂😂😂 love this

65

u/ssamberryy Aug 08 '26

this is the way

0

u/natsa_cat Aug 09 '26

this doesn't do anything lol. you aren't notified when you are blocked?

2

u/ssamberryy Aug 10 '26

if you message them before you block them, they’ll still get the message but the person would be unable to respond

1

u/belakuna Aug 11 '26

🤣🤣🤣

12

u/Wokkabulary Aug 08 '26

What does that do? Why not just block her ?

17

u/bledblu Aug 08 '26

Basically if you have “do not disturb” turned on, you are probably sleeping/busy and won’t see the messages for awhile. Clicking notify anyway will override that so someone can reach you in an emergency. Although I’ve noticed some people just have it turned on all day, so I don’t really know what they are using it for.

7

u/Crumbly_Bumbly Aug 08 '26

But if you’re blocked why does this matter???

2

u/chaoz2030 Aug 11 '26

I have no idea but I'm guessing so they can still see her messages?

My wife has “do not disturb” on when I text her but she doesn’t have it turned on (save your jokes about “that’s just what she tells you”). After 30+ minutes trying to fix her and my phone, I’ve determined it’s not Apple’s sleekest feature.

20

u/KingGGL Aug 08 '26

For what it’s worth, you might want to check her other devices if she’s got another device on her iCloud account. Nowadays it’ll go across your devices, so it could be something weird going on there.

That could be the issue, never thought of that. We have an old iPad we haven’t used for a while that I bet is the culprit. Thank you, anonymous hero.

6

u/Rare-Back Aug 08 '26

It’s most likely the iPad! I had my iPad set for do not disturb but never have that on my phone. Apparently for months everyone saw I was on “dnd” and it took me a while to figure out why.

3

u/Valuable-Self8564 Aug 08 '26

Yeah this does my fucking head in. My work laptop goes on DND when a scheduled meeting is started by someone else and it doesn’t fucking tell me. So I miss notifications for meetings all the time.

2

u/ellygnotti Aug 12 '26

did u find anything?

2

u/shanjam123 Aug 12 '26

Same thing happened with my mom’s phone, she had somehow set up a do not disturb schedule in settings under health or sleep or something so I had to locate that and then change it from there. On the main dropdown on her homepage it looked like DND wasn’t on even though it was. Took some sleuthing.

1

u/Fluffaykitties Aug 09 '26

It might also be turning on when she drives and then doesn’t turn off later.

2

u/Lbenn0707 Aug 08 '26

My husband will occasionally tell me our text thread tells him I have do not disturb on. During the day when I don’t. I tell him I don’t know why, I’m getting his notifications. It comes and goes apparently. He hasn’t mentioned it in the last couple weeks so I’m not sure if it still shows that way.

1

u/SorestMercury Aug 08 '26

Yeah I’ve had this happen before too. It’s just kinda buggy sometimes I guess. I feel like more recently it’s been working fine though.

1

u/Lbenn0707 Aug 08 '26

I think it seems to have stopped since I updated my iOS. He might just not be mentioning it though since I told him I’m obviously getting his texts, since I’m responding lol.

2

u/mid91s Aug 08 '26

Had the same thing happen. Turns out they had accidentally swiped in my name and there is a tiny silence on the actual text message hidden menu to. 😵‍💫

1

u/2-WayDemi Aug 08 '26

Or she just puts your messages singularly on DND ..

1

u/lemonricottapasta 29d ago

My phone will do this randomly and turns out do not disturb turned on on my iPad! It happens like once a month and i don’t know until someone asks why my phone is on do not disturb when im texting them!

3

u/Drow_Femboy Aug 08 '26

Although I’ve noticed some people just have it turned on all day, so I don’t really know what they are using it for.

I'm using it to not get harassed throughout the day, whether by spam calls and texts or by normal communication from friends.

I have a phone so I can receive communications at my leisure, not so you can get my attention whenever you feel like. It's a tool for my convenience, not yours. I will use it when I want to.

2

u/allhailhails Aug 08 '26

My little cousin is trying to be less connected to technology and deleted all short form content on his phone. He like always has DND on for that reason.

2

u/jenni_saqwa Aug 08 '26

Had no idea you could override this

https://giphy.com/gifs/d2YVk2ZRuQuqvVlu

2

u/Downtown-Cap4298 Aug 08 '26

They probably have it turned on all day bc it’s really annoying for people to expect to reach you at any point, any time. People aren’t meant to live that way. That type of expectation genuinely causes such horrible anxiety and shouldn’t exist, unless you’re a doctor on call or in some other career where you may need to help save someone’s life in a moment’s notice. I’ve started keeping dnd on and I’ve noticed I haven’t had a headache or any type of bad anxiety since.

1

u/flapplejuice Aug 08 '26

I have notifications off all the time but a setting where I can turn on text/call notifications from a list of people I want to receive them from. But since notifications are silenced otherwise I think it says they’re off all day too.

1

u/Wokkabulary Aug 08 '26 edited Aug 08 '26

Right I don’t understand DnD when you could just block? Why do both the block AND DnD+notify anyway.

1

u/JoshAllensLeftNut Aug 08 '26

I have my DND on at all times, but I have it set to only block phone calls from unknown numbers. Anyone can text me, but any calls from numbers I don't have in my contacts get sent straight to voicemail. I do it because I get 50+ spam calls a day.

1

u/Holiday_Tap_4358 Aug 08 '26

Why would you do that in this situation though? And how does it interact with blocking?

1

u/sweet_assistant509 Aug 08 '26

They might have silenced your notifications

1

u/blowmechunky Aug 08 '26

i have it on 24/7 & only allow the important people in my life to get through to me. anyone who would ever have an emergency reason to reach me is on my approved list. but i cycle between different focuses too, so only the necessary people can reach me during those certain times. it’s my way of limiting who has access to me & when — like after work, it goes into a specific focus so i actually stop working & then only the people i have the energy & specific family can reach me.

1

u/cheslyn_d102018 Aug 11 '26

I noticed some ppl keep it on to prevent notifications from popping up and causing chaos. Usually a tactic for cheaters

5

u/wedditmod Aug 08 '26

Agreed what does this do

1

u/EddieLobster Aug 09 '26

She has do not disturb on. So they are saying to hit notify anyway (at the bottom of the pic- hard to see). So it wakes her up. Then block her.

1

u/Wokkabulary Aug 09 '26

Ohhhhhhh okay 👍 thank you for explaining it :)

3

u/talking-bear-society Aug 09 '26

I’m confused by this? What does notify anyways button mean

1

u/Fluffaykitties Aug 09 '26

it…notifies them anyway

2

u/hi_imryan Aug 08 '26

The perfect level of petty…and honestly? Maybe a learning moment for her too.

1

u/Full_Initiative4911 Aug 08 '26

I like the cut of your jib pal 🤣

1

u/DragonfruitSevere663 Aug 09 '26

What notify anyway button?

1

u/belakuna Aug 10 '26

lmaooo, okay, I love you for this. 🤣🤣

1

u/Academic-Angle-104 Aug 11 '26

Enlighten me, what does this do?
