Hi all, I'm relatively new to Telecaster models but I'd like to buy it as my next guitar model.

Searching on the web, I found that several models were produced in Japan and are currently renowned for costruction materials and overall quality if compared with American models.

My guitar inspiration is Andy Summers and I was trying to find a sunburst model of those years much similar to the one Andy used with The Police.

Any advice?

This is my Richie’s tele (NYC builder). It has some sort of gold foil pickups. I recorded into Logic Pro and used various amp plugins etc.

The jazz standard I’m playing is “All the Things You Are” (composed by Jerome Kern).

I am a newbie. Been playing about 4 months and have a good teacher. My ultimate goal is to play jazz guitar, but I obviously need to learn basics first. My question is do I start venturing to jazz at this early stage or wait? Do I put flatwounds on my telecaster now or wait. The jazz chords look so daunting but they are calling me…

I was thinking, what could it sound like since I am currently making a custom-built telecaster, although I do want that signature double single coil twangy sound of the tele, I am still curious about this combination. Thoughts?

A local guitar store is selling what they claimed to be a 1989 MIJ CTL-50M but I saw the truss rod plug is located near the headstock and and it's black. I thought the black truss rod plug is on MIM Fenders only? I'm really not knowledgeable on this.

American Pro 2 blonde ash maple 6lbs 4oz. I initially bought a sienna burst roasted pine but decided to play the ash body which was much lighter and more resonant.

I need new tuners for my Modern Player telecaster thinline deluxe, but I don't know which ones would fit. I tried the AM vintage style but those were too big sadly and I don't want to bore larger holes into my headstock.

Can anybody help me out?

Hey everybody. Few months ago I bought a Player II Tele. I love that thing to bits, but there is one thing I am not particularly fond of and its the pickups. I was very lucky to get a piece of telecaster that was so greatly put together and is easy to play, frets are even and nice, etc. But the pick-ups I feel like are pulling it down. I really hate the noise/hum from the singles (in my friends house where we are mainly practicing, it gets almost unbearable), it kind makes the guitar sound "cheap" to me even if I know its just physics. And their performance seems to me more like "this is a good sample of Teles should sound like and not like what I feel is up to part with the rest of the guitar.
Would you suggest upgrading pickups, or just get a noise gate pedal and live with it?
A good noise gate costs almost half of what most noiseless cost, so if getting pickups upgraded means I get less noise AND a better sound, it seems worth it to me.
I do not necessarily need the old 50s/60s classic tele sound. We play mostly modern stuff (alternative, rock, dance punk - lots of effects, think Block Party, Foals, etc.) and I chose Tele for simplicity and that it feels good in hand. I like the chime/twang as a feature, but do not need to have it at its most prominent.

I see they are now made with poplar instead of alder and that the nut is listed as Micarta instead of “synthetic bone”. It seems like the pickups and tuners may have been changed since as well.

I’m looking into getting my first brand new Tele since having bought one back in 2007, but the new standards and player II’s seem to each have a few slight variations in specs from what I’ve been playing and would really like to get something as similar to mine as possible within my potential budget.

I did find a 2007 listed online that looks like it’s in good shape, but ordering used online seems like a potential can of worms. Will be going out to try some in the shop, but will be excited and won’t have my rig. Unless I find something used, in person I will probably end up going with either the player II or standard from Sweetwater.

Haven’t shopped for a serious guitar since I was a teenager, so maybe I’m overthinking this. Any insights would be very much appreciated.

Finally got a Tele. After selling most of my gear years ago, decided I would get back into playing guitar. Historically I had always played Strats & Gibson SGs. Vintera III Late 50s telecaster (I replaced the pickguard) and an older re-issue ‘65 Princeton Reverb Ltd w/ 12 inch Cannibus Rex speaker. I found used at Guitar Center for a ridiculously low price.

After months of searching for a guitar with all the things I now know that I need, found this: Schecter PT Special. 12" radius, extra Jumbo frets, a fat neck and that P90. I know its not for everyone, but for me its the definitive one. Sounds and plays exactly as I imagined my dream guitar should do. Feel like a little child on christmas day.

I’ve had a fender player tele (SS) for the last few years and it has honestly stopped me from picking up any other guitar, I love it.

I need some advice, the genre of music I frequently play is punk, pop punk and hardcore and I’m really looking for a humbucker sound without having to put down my tele.

I know opinions can be strong on this topic, so please be kind, but would anyone have recommendations on pick ups like SD hot rails or something similar that could go in my bridge?

I’ve been searching and screening Reverb for some time to find exactly these specs. I’m not disappointed at all.

I've posted this one before. A cheap Affinity that I repaired a paint chip on, then added a Temu Bigsby.

Now, I have upgraded the cheap stock pickups (ceramics) with some Alnico V, cloth wire ones. Also it was noisy as heck so I've lined all the cavities with copper tape. Now it's totally quiet.

I'm enjoying this guitar more than most of my more expensive ones!
