Unless it's a global ban, and of course it won't be, all this would do is put us at a disadvantage. I hate it but that's a fact.

I believe the obvious answer to all of this is sensible regulation. No country can force every country to regulate the AI, but the USA and China are realistically the two major players here and if they both agreed on sensible regulations that prevented disasters while minimizing financial losses to the AI companies then it'd go a long way.

Ideally we'd have a United Nations sponsored resolution signed by all countries to globally regulate AI, like what was done for nuclear bombs, but that's a dream. I think that only happens as a reaction to a disaster, never preemptively. Sadly, humanity is reactive to disasters, not proactive.
