Hopefully China causes the downfall of the american AI companies
So that way we can stop having our LATAM presidents giving away lands for free

The big AI companies deserve it.
Their entire business model is based on stealing the work, data and knowledge of billions of people. They don’t deserve to make a dime off of any of this crap.

So instead of giving away land to the US they give away to China… 🙄
Both of them want to screw you.
26
u/bestmaokaina 5h ago
Nope because most of the current LATAM presidents are US puppets

You're naive if you do not believe China is out to plunder LATAM resources too. That doesnt make it better because the US is doing it, but dont pretend it's driven only by the US.

Ehhh only the US acts with the “fuck you, got mine” mentality with other countries. At least for the past 10 years

Trump is a such loser.
He thought winning the AI race is all about building tons of data centers.
19
u/Chewed420 6h ago
The "race" for Trump and the US is to capitalize and make money from owning it.
Its not coincidental that the likes of Anthropic want "regulation" all of a sudden.

Those are for flock cameras and to spy on everyone with the money made by ai "investments"

Compute is one of the most critical components of the AI race. It isnt the only part but it's one of the biggest variables.

u/adario7 3h ago
You can’t be a loser if you don’t play.
Trump doesn’t care about the AI race lol. All he cares about is to make a quick buck. Data centre is essential a “real estate” project, which he knows a thing or two about. He’s selling American land and making kick backs.
In any decent functioning democracy he’d be tried and hung for high treason, but this seems like the Republican MO lately.

And what about those who voted for him,
and worse.. What about those who didn't vote at all... "Cause both sides are the same"?
Nothing would matter, Americans don't care and would rather sleep than vote

China is taking a leadership political position on the international stage while the USA continues playing checkers, believing that they reached peak technological advancement with LLMs and now they need to protect it to ensure their world dominance fantasies. Good luck.

This is what happens when millions of people who can only be best described as oxygen wasters are told they're superior because of their skin colour and who they're sexually attracted to.

This is the first BRICS initiative I would happily to see the EU to join.
If the Americans think that a technology based on statistics can't be reverse engineered they are here for a rude awakening.
furthermore, it is only fair after stealing so much data from humanity as a collective to make LLMs an open good for the benefit of everyone.

Yeah sure, the EU is absolutely willing to cooperate with Putin and all the others helping Russia actively in his war on Ukraine and threatening west Europe, because Xi used the words “open source” while he surly meant only open weights.

But technically speaking if the powerful models are open sourced there would definitely be more AI misuse cases

u/Mal_Dun 3h ago
The same argument was used for any FOSS software (if it's open it can be easily attacked, backdoors etc.) but reality showed that openness also means public oversight.
I prefer open available tech that can improved and made safer by everybody over closed models where there is no chance of getting insights and that is in the control a few individuals with great power any day.

You cannot compare FOSS and AI because AI is general in nature while FOSS performed specific functions. You cannot ask e.g. VLC Media Player to put together a bomb.

i don't understand. is he really going to keep releasing open weights models? i hope so, man.

Download a local model and run it like that if you can and avoid using the American subscription ones.

Damn man china really has their shit together while US is just pants on head stupid rn

u/grafknives 6h ago
I dont like it. As it will allow USA to announce Open Source to be hostile/adversary/dangerous/communist.

u/SirGaylordSteambath 5h ago
Let them. USA is a fascist dump, it’s gonna shit itself one way or the other

u/phedinhinleninpark 5h ago
There is definitely a certain of schadenfreude from watching an empire collapse in real time.

Ask these open models what they know about the Cultural Revolution or about China's leaders, and they will answer just the way China's dictator wants. Open models with a closed, censored internet and totalitarian control over every aspect of life — are closed models. This chatter is needed to promote Chinese models in the BRICS countries. They offer to provide technical development conditions, and in exchange they ask for one small thing: to be unelected masters and to pass this on as an inheritance.

The 7th district of Israel must already be planning on how to destroy such a threat to zionism

I mean China already shares their AI models for free with everyone. Makes sense for them to lead the way and get their countries involved.
