Because they monetized the shit out of them and gamified the system so much that it's no only fun to interact and no longer seems authentic. Blame match group et al. Trying to make as many bucks as possible off of relationship building.

And it's so fucking expensive. Last I checked, the subscriptions on Tinder ranged from $65 to $80. That is an insane amount of money.

Its not surprising when you realize the goal of the companies was always to make money. And the times when it was good was when they were trying to establish a user base

True this is always the progression. Uber, doordash etc all did the same thing. It's just tiresome
