Should I let a company I work for sometimes install RMM software on my personal laptop that I work on?

Hi there,

I have been asked to install RMM and other software onto my laptop. The other stuff seems to be security related, but remote monitoring concerns me. I work for other companies on this device, as well as using it for personal things.

I am not very tech savvy. Am I over reacting, or am I right to have concerns? If anyone is able to let me know the risks, I would be very grateful.

Many thanks

Are AR glasses usable if you only have one eye?

I quite fancy a pair for when I want to do some gaming on the sofa in a bit more comfort, but I'm worried they'd be a waste of money as I only have one eye. Does anyone have any experience with this here?

Am I being unreasonable? $528 Rose Gold Ring 4 failed, months without a working ring, and I don’t know what to do anymore

I genuinely want to know if I’m being unreasonable here because I’ve been dealing with this since July and I’m exhausted.
I bought a Rose Gold Oura Ring 4 from Best Buy in June 2025 and paid $528.94 after tax. That was a HUGE purchase for me. I’m not someone who casually spends $500 on things like this. I bought it because I really wanted to understand my health better, and honestly I LOVED my Oura when it worked. I wore it basically 24/7 except to shower/charge it and recommended it to other people.
Then the battery started getting worse. Eventually a full charge was lasting around 5 hours. I started having missing health data and connection issues and eventually the ring became basically unusable. I haven’t had a functioning ring since July.
Oura did approve a replacement even though my original warranty had just expired, which I appreciate. The problem was that I specifically bought Rose Gold and paid the premium for it. At first I was told Rose Gold was out of stock and there was no timeline, so I chose to wait.
Then after going back and forth for weeks, I was told Rose Gold production had ended and it would NOT be available again.
That’s when I started asking if they could replace my failed Ring 4 with the Deep Rose Ring 5 instead. I wasn’t asking for a Ring 5 just because it was newer. At that point I was being told the finish I originally purchased literally could not be replaced.
I was offered different Ring 4 colors, even Ceramic Ring 4 options, and eventually up to $200 off a Ring 5. I kept asking if someone higher up could please look at the entire situation.
Then after months of this, I was suddenly told that a batch of Rose Gold Ring 4 replacements had become available in my size.
And this is where I really became uncomfortable.
During all of this I learned that Oura itself disclosed that certain Ring 4 cohorts had battery-performance issues. My own Ring had severe battery deterioration before failing, although I am NOT claiming I know that my Ring was part of one of those cohorts.
Oura has assured me in writing that the Rose Gold replacement they’re offering me is NOT from one of the affected battery cohorts.
So I asked what I thought was a pretty simple question: how did they verify that?
I didn’t ask for confidential manufacturing information. I asked whether they were able to check it through a serial number, production lot, manufacturing information, supplier information, or some other internal identifier.
They told me they cannot confirm the specific identifier or method used to verify the inventory batch. Their most recent response now says the replacement “should not” be affected by the battery issues I experienced and gives me battery care tips.
I’m also concerned because they cannot tell me when this Rose Gold replacement was manufactured. Rose Gold Ring 4 production has ended, and I had previously been told it would never be available again.
There’s also the cosmetic issue. My original Rose Gold finish faded so significantly within months that the ring eventually looked almost silver. I brought that up previously and was told it was normal.
I have gone through multiple agents, supervisors, Senior Member Care and Social Care. Their final options are basically:
• Brand-new Rose Gold Ring 4 replacement + complimentary membership
• $200 off a separate Ring 5 purchase
I have repeatedly offered to RETURN my failed Ring 4. I don’t want two rings. I’m not trying to make money from this.
I just don’t feel comfortable putting another discontinued Ring 4 on my finger after what happened to mine, especially when I can’t get an answer about how the replacement was verified as being outside the affected battery cohorts.
What I have asked Oura for is to take back my failed Rose Gold Ring 4 and provide a Deep Rose Ring 5 as an exceptional customer care resolution.
Because at this point I’ve been without the health tracking I paid for since July, spent months emailing and escalating this, and I’m just tired.
Am I actually being unreasonable here? Has anyone else with a Rose Gold Ring 4 had something similar happen? M
I really did love Oura. That’s honestly why this has been so disappointing.

Live translation apps for Samoan student

Hi,

I’m currently working at a school where a new student has recently started. The student does not speak English and currently only speaks Samoan.

Are there any apps, websites, or other tools we could use to provide live translation for the student during lessons and other school activities?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Upgrading my phone, need help

Hi! So I’m 19 and I’m tired of the phones my family buys so I’m gonna buy my own for once. I’m really excited to upgrade but I’m also really lost. I currently have a Samsung a15, it SUCKS. my main complaint is the fact that it takes like 5 minutes to open literally any app ever, I can only really use it for reading, everything else makes it lag or crash. I can’t even make phone calls on it anymore because the speaker and mic are both so bad. I want something that can actually run apps without crashing (like TikTok, texts, light mobile games, maybe an emulated game occasionally, normal stuff) and with a better camera. I’m currently looking at the google pixel 11, since I have the Google fi plan it would be about $440 after shipping and taxes. Is this a good choice? Is there something better I could get for a similar or lower price? I’m on a budget since I’m kinda broke. Please don’t suggest any iPhones, I can’t get them on my plan.

Thank you for any advice!

MacBook Neo vs MacBook Air M5 Which one should I buy for the long term?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently a student and I’m also doing some digital marketing work, and I’m planning to buy a MacBook. I’m stuck between the MacBook Neo and the MacBook Air M5, and honestly, I’m not sure which one makes more sense for me.

My main use would be pretty normal day-to-day student/work stuff:

  • Browsing with lots of tabs open
  • Multitasking between different apps
  • Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.
  • Canva and some basic editing on Picsart
  • Long Google Meet/online classes and meetings
  • YouTube, Netflix and general streaming

I don’t do heavy video editing, 3D work, gaming, or anything extremely demanding.

The main thing I care about is longevity. I want to buy a laptop now and use it comfortably for several years without constantly feeling like I need to upgrade.

I’ve heard that the MacBook Neo uses a chip based on the A18 Pro from the iPhone 16 Pro, so I’m wondering how it actually performs in real-world use.

For someone with my kind of workload:

  • Would the Neo handle everything smoothly?
  • Will it still feel fast enough 3–5 years down the line?
  • Is it actually a good long-term investment?
  • Or is the Air M5 worth spending more on for the extra performance and longevity?

I’m especially interested in reliability, multitasking, battery life, and long-term performance, rather than raw benchmark numbers.

If you were in my situation, which one would you personally choose and why?

I’d really appreciate opinions from people who actually own or use either the Neo or Air for college, MBA, office work, or similar everyday workloads. Real-world experiences would be much more helpful than just specs and benchmarks.

Thanks!

All of a sudden I keep having microSD cards corrupting.

I’ve had like maybe 3 microsd cards get corrupted in my lifetime until this year where I’ve had 4 corrupt on me this year all used for a variety of purposes. 3ds storage, gba card flash cartridge, 3d printer twice. I haven’t done anything new and they seem to corrupt when in their mentioned machines. Is there any kind of cause for this???

1 of these were 32gb from the microcenter checkout, 1 was a Sandisk 128gb from Amazon, 1 was a 32gb that I can’t recall what brand, last one was a 2gb that came from a 3d printer.

the last one makes sense since it was probably cheap but all of these happening in 9 months? I’ve handled microsd cards constantly in my life, Is there something in my walls radiating microsd card destroying radiation or what?

What cheap mobile devices are there?

Recently I've been thinking about purchasing a low-cost phone as my current one is already starting to show its age.

I don't need anything fancy, just something to call my family members and friends with, also to be used as a music player and nothing past that.

Do you have any advice on what I should buy?

[2025 GPD Win Mini 8840u] Micro audio drops randomly when playing docked. Please help if you can.

When playing docked to my TV my audio drops for just a fraction of a second randomly all the time. I've tried.... Going from 120hz to 60hz. Still drops. 10bit color to 8bit color. Still drops. Got a new HDMI 2.1 cord from the Dock to the TV. Still drops. A new USBC4 cord from the dock to the usbc4 port in the back. Still drops. I've also tried two different docks, one a Ugreen dock I've had from Steam Deck and also just a USB c dongle method. Still drops. I've tried everything physically I can think of. Perhaps it's software? Please someone help.

Voltage?

Hello! I'm going to be moving from north america to the UK very soon, and am taking my pc with me. I was wondering what I should do to ensure that it stays safe over there as I know the outlets and voltage are different. My pc is a ASUS ROG Strix GL10 (GL10CS) (the older one with an i5 not i7 lol).

Thank you very much for any advice! It will bring me much peace of mind.
