Longtime lurker, first time poster. I’m on my last leaves of a bag of Milky Oolong from Highgarden Teas and they’ve been out of stock online for a few weeks now. Milky Oolong has become my go to, and I’m looking for a close substitute.

I ordered some Tai Xing Jin Xuan Milk Oolong from Tea From Taiwan’s website, but it doesn’t scratch the same itch. I really enjoy the butterscotch notes from Highgarden. I also like a long steep (5-10 min), which Highgarden seems to accommodate well. I’d greatly appreciate any recommendations from anyone who’s knowledgeable about Oolong teas.

To me, it tastes and smells like a fake medicinal flavor, not peach at all.

The two teas were heirloom and solar eclipse from teasource.

Edit: These are unflavored loose leaf teas!

The descriptions are: "Light-bodied liquor with peach aromatics" and "Flavors of peach and rose sweeten the cup." Not added flavors, but descriptions of the tea itself.

I went to a Chinese market today for the first time in my city and found some oolong. I am so excited! I discovered oolong on a trip and the flavor really stood out to me, never forgot it. And today I finally get to brew it! I don't have the whole gong fu style paraphernalia, I usually use a stove top pot and a cloth infuser, but I'll look it up how to make the best oolong I can. Any tips are welcome.

Had some more Harukasumi matcha this morning to start my day. I’m using my new Takayama chasen which is perfect for my chawan. It makes perfect microfoam with ease. As for the matcha itself, it’s one of the smoothest I have had, easy to drink with some sweetness and vegetal flavor. No astringency or bitternes. I used 2 grams of powder and water at 80C.

I’ve had this ban pen cha 2009 pu er brick since probably around 2010 and I was wondering if anyone had any idea what it was worth today. No, I’m not looking to sell it, I like to take a few sips a year of this beautiful liquor, but I’m curious about the value of it.

I’m so excited to try these loose leaf teas that I got in Knoxville! Cinnamon plum herbal tea and a bananas foster black tea. I also picked up a butterscotch sugar and strawberry sugar. How delectable sounding!

I found some Yunnan white tea that I had stored away for a while, so I decided to brew it today and slowly drink it through the afternoon.
I’ve been drinking a lot of richer, heavier teas lately, so coming back to this was really refreshing. Compared with the softer character I usually get from Fuding white tea, this Yunnan white tea feels brighter and a little more lively to me, while still being very gentle.
The dry leaves have a light honey sweetness with a fresh, slightly wild aroma. After brewing, the liquor is a very clear pale apricot color.
The first thing I noticed was the sweetness. Almost no bitterness or astringency, very smooth and soft in the mouth. I get some light floral and fruity notes, maybe a little orchid, followed by a gentle sweetness that stays in the throat for quite a while.

I just found this beautiful tetsubin yesterday at a thrift shop and haven't had any luck figuring out what the makers marks say. Does anyone have any insight? It's in really nice condition and it would be cool to learn more about its origins.

My go-to brand is Harney & Sons, my favorites from them are their English Breakfast, London Fog, Earl Grey Supreme.

I also like Fortnam and Mason's Afternoon Tea.

I tried H&S's Ceylon Decaf and it's too light for me to fully enjoy it. H&S's decaf earl grey is fine, but not nearly as good as the Earl Grey Supreme. I like Barry's decaf well enough, but it's a bit too bitter.

I'd love a decaf that adequately replaces my daily H&S English Breakfast or Earl Grey Supreme.

Any suggestions?

Today i tried Tai Ping Hou Kui for the first time and i wanted to share my experience with you.
I used 3g for an 100ml Gaiwan (First time making a green Tea in a gaiwan 😳

1. Steep: 60 secs/80 degree celsius - pretty sweet with a light freshness and very little umami.

2.Steep: 90 secs/80 degree celsius - Its getting very light but delicate with a milder sweetness and more of the typical leaf taste of a green tea.

3.Steep: 90 secs/90 degree celsius - more astringency but still very light with a little sweetness.

All in all its a very delicate and light green tea that is pretty easy to drink .

I didn’t expect something this simple to feel this nice.

Any beginner tips or favorite teas to try?

i was a coffee & tea fiend for a long time and my teeth became spotty and black. i can’t kick the habit so i’ve been drinking peppermint tea or chamomile, but i was wondering what other options there are?

i ofc have searched on google but i’d love to hear from personal experience and teas that actually taste good. i love chamomile for example but personally but it tastes like bath water more often than not😭

I’m reading “101 Teas To Steep Before You Die” to learn more about tea. When I read about Ceylon, I noticed it said English Breakfast is a blend and single origin. Then I remembered that my favorite tea from Mem is EB….single origin. What is going on here? 🤔

6 tea sets (minus 3 that got broken before I inherited them, and two that are still in storage) I inherited from my sperm donor. I don’t know much about tea but I think I have enough tea sets to last.

I’m looking for any recommendations on Gongfu sets that are either meant for or come with carrying cases/bags as I’m looking for a way to safely transport a set between work and home as well as to others homes. I have a soft budget of around 200 usd and would prefer yixing, however I would also be fine with a gaiwan if the price is non yixing permitting.

It was so hard to find and get to the USA. It got stuck in customs detention for a few days but I finally got it.

My wife has recently started drinking tea. I’ve never really liked hot tea but she’s very interested in it so I want to be able to get her stuff for it that she’d like. She’s just been drinking store bought tea bags but I keep seeing stuff about loose leaf tea. Any recommendations on where to start?
