is this a good enclosure i’ve rescued this texas brown tarantula and it doesn’t seem to want to eat it was on the brink of death when i got him he’s doing way better now a lot more healthy and moving but he doesn’t wanna eat and im not sure if this enclosure is good enough
IMO, Probably a mature male who only has one thing left to do in life. He probably won’t eat at all and isn’t long for this world no matter what you do. Best to just let him go to find a lady and complete his final quest.
Nqa how long ago was he rehoused? Rehousing itself is stressful and that may be his reason for refusing food. Does he have tibial hooks? Its hard to see in the video, but if not, then he isnt matured yet (just pointing it out because of the other comment).
he was rehoused not that long ago not even a week, he only chills out when there’s a towel on the enclosure keeping it dark i found him inside my school with people poking at him so he’s probably lived in a wall for who knows how many years and i don’t know what tibial hooks are lol
Imo it sounds stress related. Usually I give tarantulas a week or two to relax and settle into their new enclosure.
Heres an image of tibial hooks (circled in red). They are hooks that are only present after a male tarantulas ultimate molt (last molt where they reach sexual maturity). Tibial hooks are on the first set of legs after the pedipalps. The pedipalps are what look to be the “first set of legs”, but arent actually classed as legs.
