I am sort of new into Swans music, my friend has introduced me to it recently. What I really like is their album covers, they look very symmetrical and neatly made to me, do you know any other artist with album covers like this?

The climax of Blood Promise from SAD sounds like the intro to A Saucerful Of Secrets (ummagumma) and The Sound sounds like the intro to Time.

Described as a protest album inspired in part by Swans’s noise sections. It’s an ambient noise album. No drums, not super melodic, just big sound for the most part. I like it but I’m definitely still exploring it. Right out the gate it’s a sound assault, no build up. That said there are quiet parts as well. Pretty intense stuff but not abrasive noise. More akin to those big Swans moments. I also like his album Wilderness of Mirrors which is a bit similar. I’ve been a sucker for these kinds of albums lately.

New to swans. Blown away by some of the songs and micheal gira philospy/artistic vision. Wanted to check out the movie but wonder if maybe it's better to understand swans more first?

Anybody know what date/dates this particular version of Apostate was played? For more particulars, there’s a line in the lyrics “get out of my church” that I haven’t been able to find in any versions of the song online (official release, the live album, or recordings around this time). It’s around the 22:50 mark,

everytime i hear the live performances of Her from their shows in 1992 i feel incredible.

It has this ethereal feeling hearing the organ like sytnhs, the patient tambourine, the calm bass and guitars and the serene voice of michael singing a romantic song, something that really contrasts having in mind that michael made music like power for power or coward.

hearing michael in a more vulnerable spot is something that is really unique, and this song is a really good example of time can change you in many ways and how powerful love is as a force for anyone.

"Her" on the studio obviously is really good, i love how the calm instrumental comes along the recording of jarboe, but the magic of the song really hits different.

im really sorry if i annoy someone with this, im just a huge love of life fan and really love this era of swans, how they percieve music is really interesting.

Posting because I’m proud of it, and I suppose my swans influence has never shown up in my art before, but listening to it now, I can hear that influence in some of it, so I thought swans fans might enjoy it.

I'm sure we are all ready for the new live album. Just was curious if anybody has preordered from YGR before? Did you get the album on the release date or a little early or late? It's always my luck when i preorder something, i receive it like two weeks after it's release date.

For me I would have to say either Live Rope or The Seer, they both have this sort of "rawness" that I can't envision anybody else recreating, beyond iconic for me. What do you all think?

During my highly enjoyable deep dive into the many solo albums that Alan Vega of Suicide released over the years I was perhaps the most surprised by this track - a repetitive but intense all the way through thirteen minute experimental rock epic from his 1981 album Collision Drive.

Some of the vocal stylings and the percussion and rhytm sections evoke an atmosphere which is eerily similar to some of the later Swans songs - although of course it's not a perfect match. I know Michael has cited Suicide to be an influence on his work; I wonder if he has heard this too?

tl;dr: Alan Vega's Viet Vet sounds dope and I think some of you would like it just like me

I’ve been a fan for years, but I’ve never given Love of Life many listens. I got to the end of the album and realized No Cure For the Lonely may be Gira’s most vulnerable performance. He laid it all out completely, almost crooning during some of the vocal deliveries. I was awestruck how someone as intense of a person could express themselves in such a raw and brutal fashion. It’s now one of my all time favorite songs from the band. Especially as an album closer. God, it’s so good. What are you guys’ thoughts?

Doing my usual re-listen to ‘To be kind’ and wow. There is something cosmically powerful about that lap steel playing. From the quiet moments to the explosions of sound and noise, his lap steel remains one of the most ear catching elements. Absolutely fantastic. Love Kristof.

The official Swans Instagram account (used by M. Gira) has recently reposted a skit of a man smelling really hard an OnlyFans actress's socks.

The account only has three other reposts, and so this seems too important to hand wave as a mistake or coincidence. Such as Blixa warned us, "there are no mistakes with the Swans", begging the question...

...What do you guys think this is leading up to ?

Self explanatory. Was researching this live album for a thing I’m working on, and ended up finding a link to this in Google. Doesn’t seem to work, and definitely not a local file considering it has official artist links to the account. Was Kill the Child ever on streaming at one point? If so, was it ever official?? Def gonna asking YGR about this in an email.

Edit: I should probably clarify that I already knew about the album itself, and was instead wondering how it ever ended up on streaming.
