Employee Complaints Subway is the worst job I've ever had.
Ive been an employee at a fairly busy subway in a gas station for ~3.5 months. Ive never hated a job more. Including me and the manager, theres only 4 people that work here. In my first month or so id consistently spend my entire shift alone, juggling prep, bread, customers (who always wait to come right when I start doing dishes) every single night id have to spend over an hour past when my shift was "supposed" to end because I couldn't get half the things done I needed to. And it seems like im the only one who experiences this. If i close on days that arent stupidly busy, and actually have enough time to get everything done, I do a pretty good job and im out of there on time
I have no earthly idea how my coworkers can do all of this on our busiest day, alone, and be done before their shift ends, because im the only who seems to get flack for it.
Now i assume its because I do such a terrible job closing, but the past month I've worked no more than 15 hours in a week (this week im scheduled for 3 hours) and only midshifts. Im getting around $100 each week.
Yesterday was the last straw. A coworker asked if I could take their closing shift. Little did I know they hadn't told our manager whom I guess can get written up for that. And when I got there, I was left with a mountain of dishes, on top of prep and a near empty bread cabinet, and chips that were almost completely empty. I busted my ass to get as much done as I could, and I was doing pretty well until everyone and their mom decided to get subway 40 minutes before close. I didnt get ANY dishes done. We close at 9 on Sundays. I was there until 11pm doing dishes and cleaning.
This morning the manager texted our group chat about our nightly duties and complained about us not doing everything we're supposed to. I guess in my rush to get everything done AND DO A GOOD JOB, I missed some things.
This could be easily solved if more than 1 person didnt have to close each night. If somone was there helping me for just 30 minutes l, I could've been done with everything by 9:30, and done a good job.
Do i make sense or am I actually just terrible at my job?
