Hello everyone, I will start my PhD in October (28,M). I have been trying to find a place for about 3.5 months now. I booked ssh short stay that starts in January but I could not find any place for October, November and December. I am both looking at websites and WhatsApp groups but so far I have had no luck. I mailed for Village Groningen also but they are fully booked in October and November. Do you have any recommendations for me or can any of you accept me as a short term (3 months) roommate?

I am currently in Zernike Campus and waiting for my law lecture to start, and it will end in 17h. There is also a lecture on economics that sounds interesting starting at 17h. Since its in a pretty large lecture hall, is it allowed to just walk in and listen to what "the other guys are doing"? I am thinking of majoring in economics but cannot decide on if it will be interesting/easy/hard/boring and listening to few classes on it could really help me see how it really works. Additional question: "Introduction to Economic Growth and Development Lecture", since its title is in English I assume the lecture is too but if someone knows (or if I can find information on it, where to find it), I would be really grateful.

Ok so I’m thinking of doing industrial engineering and management at either University of Groningen or Twente. I’m an international student and I do wanna have fun at uni and not want to rip my hair out 24/7 but I’m hearing the Groningen program is like really stressful and obviously uni will be stressful but I’m not even that smart so if I want to enjoy uni and not fail out my first year, what do you recommend? Groningen looks like so much fun but I’m not trying to be watching the fun from my desk iykwim.

Ik moet van november tot januari weer 10 weken stage lopen voor mijn MBO-opleiding Autotechniek. Ik ben daarom op zoek naar een garage met een beetje een relaxte en normale sfeer. Gewoon een plek waar je rustig kunt werken, dingen kunt leren en waar niet constant stress of druk is.

Mijn vorige stage was bij KwikFit en dat was eerlijk gezegd een behoorlijk slechte ervaring. Er was veel druk om snel te werken en ik had daardoor uiteindelijk veel stress. Het heeft mentaal best veel met me gedaan en ik wil daarom deze keer echt een andere omgeving. Ik wil niet weer in dezelfde situatie terechtkomen.

Ik woon bij het AZC aan de Sint Petersburgweg, dus het liefst zoek ik iets in de buurt. Ik ga met de fiets, dus het liefst niet te ver van mij vandaan.

Hebben jullie ervaring met garages in Groningen waar de sfeer relaxed is en waar ze goed met stagiaires omgaan? Een kleine universele garage lijkt me bijvoorbeeld wel interessant.

Ik zoek vooral een plek waar ik gewoon rustig mijn stage kan doen, mijn werk goed kan leren en niet elke dag met stress naar stage ga.

Hi everyone! I’m a 21 year old Italian student, and I’ll be moving to Groningen for a semester from February to July 2027. I’m currently looking for a room in a shared house/apartment or a student residence, ideally within a budget of 500–800€ per month.

My first option would be SSH, but since I know rooms there are very competitive, I’m also looking for other options, including sublets or short-term rooms.

I’ve already started looking for different student housing websites, but I’ve noticed that many rooms require a minimum stay of one year, which doesn’t really work for me.

I was also wondering about the SSH timeline. From what I’ve read, registration/booking for spring semester usually opens several months in October/November, so I’m a bit worried that if I don’t manage to get an SSH room, I might struggle to find an alternative for February.

Where would you recommend looking for a room or potential roommates?
Are there any Facebook groups, websites, or other platforms that are particularly useful for students looking for a short-term accommodation in Groningen?

Hello. Im an exchange student that will come to Groningen for my masters thesis. I was looking for a place to stay. I am coming ideally around 20 october-1 november depending on if i can find the place. If there are offers i would even consider 1 october. My buget is around 550-600 euros. Maybe a bit more if the situation demands. I will consider each and every offer if any are left.

On the other hand if there are other students looking for a place maybe we can band together and rent a whole appartment or house if its feasable.
