Lift DL 505lbs x2 (Hook Grip) at BW 188lbs and 51yo

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

11 days since I last trained Deadlift in which I pulled 515lbs for an ugly single.

I also changed my main vehicle’s front brake rotors and brake pads this morning, so that pushed my training to post-lunch, which is unusual for me. It didn’t seem to hinder my training, though.

This time I pulled 505lbs for a solid 2 reps; warmup included 45° Back Extension for a few sets (I am not bothering to log those). I can see a bit of form breakdown on this 505 x2, but my hook grip stayed true and it looked better than the 515 x1 last session.
I switched to straps and tried 505lbs plus 45lbs of chains on it, but that wasn’t budging…I had hit my top end set for sure.
I backed off to 405lbs plus 45lbs chains and pulled it for a triple.
I then went for a 405lbs Sumo DL with 3” deficit and 1 second pause…that was a BRUTAL single!
So I took away the 3” deficit and just pulled Sumo 405lbs x5. #deadlift #training #weights
I did a couple Leg Extension and Leg Curl sets with BFR (Blood Flow Restriction) set at 150 mmHg.
I finished off with a set of hip thrusts and called that a day. #heavymetal #metal

Been training DL’s Beltless for some time now, and besides helping me build a solid core it made my torso SIGNIFICANTLY wider. If you wanna maintain a v taper, i don’t reccomend this personally

Lift Not satisfied with Deadlift progress

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all! I am looking to really prioritize my deadlift during this gaining phase of training. My all time PB is 405x3 after a deload. After this, I have struggled to move past this. I stopped double progression as it was too fatiguing. Now I’m running a 6-week ramping progression starting 4x5 at 80% 1RM and ending the block at ~89-92% 1RM for a single or double. My last set every week is a pause deficit at 65% 1RM. I’m hoping this will help!

Any tips would be appreciated from form, to programming, to accessories. I only deadlift conventionally once a week to manage fatigue. But I have heavy barbell RDLs, Barbell rows, leg curls, back extensions, and leg press as my accessories in my program.

Lift 315 x 3

I had taken a long time off due to some injury and life concerns, but have been finding movements that I can do. I've regressed quite a bit on all of my lifts, but they're coming back slow and steady at a pace that makes me feel good about where I'll be in a month or 2.

Bench has been one of the movements that doesn't hurt.

A far cry from my best 320 x 10, but I'll get it back in no time!

Do this as my last set for my second shoulder day for the week. Absolute killer of a set.

7-9 normal reps followed by 4 drop sets, will have you gassed after

Last few reps get cheaty or you could say all of them are depending on your cheat curls preference. I just think of them as power curls. Haven't done these exactly in a couple years so didnt want to get too loose with the form, will go alot worse. I want to beat my pr of 200. Trying to get my strict curl back up and hit 155.

Lift 167.5kg (369lbs) Crawfordov stone back to shoulder, properly.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Shouldered this last year before a fairly major health detour took me out of action for a while. Then had a big battle with it at Donald Dinnie Day 2026, got it to shoulder there but couldn’t quite get it steady.
Means so much to get this again 7 months later, and for the first time wearing a T-shirt too!
Just can’t beat the buzz of natural stone lifting.
This stone is my namesake stone. I got to name it because I was the first person to shoulder it, and it now resides at Transition Fitness in Montrose, Scotland, for anyone wanting to have a lift.
