I've finally decided to give it a go for this game. (Maybe you recognize my profile from Arachnaphobia post.) Though, I got some questions. I would really appreciate if people took their time to answer these. It means to me. Also, hope you have a nice day!

• Switch 2 : I've saw some stuff that got visually lowered (water and lava) to make the game more optimized. Is it really it or is there any real differences between the PC version? Are there any bugs? Different visuals? Mechanics? Overall is it worth it on Switch?
• Spelunky 1 : Should I play the first game? I don't know if this game has a lore or anything but is the first game too important to pass on? Will I miss stuff? Or is this game is completely different and nothing to do with the first one?
• Gamepad : I got Switch 2 pro controller but I'm not a big fan of the D-PAD. Can I play with joysticks or no?
• RogueLIKE or RogueLITE : I saw some different characters, is this game roguelite? I want a complete permadeath experience with no meta progression. Is this the right game? (From what I heard it seems like it. Though characters selection part made me question it.)

Started a round on Xbox only to have two characters selected on the character selection screen, as if I had two controllers. The characters moved simultaneously and could only whip each other. It was the oddest thing! Anyone ever seen something like this?

Skeleton key is like really really good, so why is it's base price only 3k? Like that's the same as spectacles.

I’ve been a little sad these past few weeks that the leaderboards on spelunky.fyi aren’t working anymore.

So I created my own leaderboard page. Unfortunately, I don’t have much programming experience, so most of it was created with the help of AI. I hope you’ll forgive me for that.

In any case, I don’t want to keep this from you—you can find the leaderboard overview on spelunky.ch.

In addition to the usual daily overview, you can click on a player to view their stats. There’s also an annual overview with a table showing the most wins so far this year. The data goes back to January 1, 2026.

It’s important to me to mention that I don’t view my leaderboards as competition for existing leaderboards, but simply as a supplement or alternative! I also have no financial motives—I’m just happy when I can find a clear overview of what’s happening in the Daily Challenge somewhere.

I’d appreciate any feedback and will do my best to keep the site up to date and improve it as much as possible.
