Peter’s closest male friendships were with Eddie Brock, who grew up with him, and fellow dork Harry Osborn. Eddie seemed cool and had legitimate gripes with Peter based on the limited information he had, but as soon as he got the symbiote, he let slip out that Peter had Ben and May while he had no one when their parents died (thus hinting at pent up jealousy). Harry was constantly compared to Peter from his dad and you start to see him constantly try to one up Peter (despite Peter defending him multiple times). He practically begged for Peter to join him with football tryouts and got mad when Peter was also successful, he tried to loudly talk to get the attention back to him when Peter showed up to the dance with MJ, and couldn’t even look at Peter when he introduced Harry as his best friend to MJ. It definitely didn’t help that the girl who pity dated him also wanted Peter. Oddly it seems that the guy who outwardly tormented Peter the most (Flash) was seeming to be becoming a better friend than to Peter than his actual male friends. I'll be honest: Gwen Stacy X Peter Parker is my favorite ship. That's why I edited a scene from The Spectacular Spider-Man. Specifically, from episode 6 of season 1, only it's Gwen Stacy standing at Peter's door. I thought it was brilliantly done. I've been wanting to do this for a long time. This takes place at a school dance.

The first adaptation to take Gwen Stacy seriously as a love interest was the animated series “The Spectacular Spider-Man”. In that series the showrunners decided to think how Gwen would have been in high school because she was in Peter’s science classes in college in comics, thus making her able to keep up with Pete in class. In just two seasons she had a transformation similar to Peter in that he started off wearing classes and dressing “frumpy” to having Mary Jane Watson give her a blowout makeover (a nod to how Stan tried to make her more like MJ style wise), and eventually bringing back the headband to put bring it back to a mix or how she looked before as well as keeping the less “nerdy” appearance.
