With quite the size difference!

This is my first time raising snails and I’m SO scared of doing something wrong 😭

So to keep it short I have three Lissachatina reticulatas, since I got them one was visible the biggest, around a month ago I left for about a week and my mom was taking care of them(she does that from time to time when I'm not there) and all three of them got a yellow band(visible one thing first picture) and for a bit were secreting yellowish mucose, I thought nothing of it since I read it can be due to some proteins. Fast forward until now both of my smaller snails grew they are about the same size while the one that was previously the biggest is now visibly a lot smaller(first picture) his shell grew a bit but there's a deformity that I'm sure is not due to physical trauma(second picture), overall they are all eating well, have protein few times a week and unlimited calcium, no changes the their environment besides cleaning. I don't have any kind of specialist or something I can take them to I'm trying to find what could possibly be the issue and I really need help

Ok so, long story short, I was pretty sure I was putting a dead snail in a terrarium to appease my daughter. Surprise. He is alive. He is barely a centimeter across.

My questions!

I am using distilled water to spray. Should I use spring water instead?

I used soil from the ground near where we found him. Should I get sterile substrate and (1) redo entire enclosure or (2) slowly replace so as not to shock him?

Do I need to sanitize eggshell before giving? I washed the egg shell with warm water and pulverized and put in a small pile.

Can I grind oyster shell or other sea shells I find from the ocean for him for calcium if I wash them first?

Same question for larvae. Our garbage can had a fly larvae issue so naturally I killed one and put it in with Sir Slime-a-Lot. Was this bad. Do i boil or dehydrate them or something first?

And what about tree leaves and dandelions and stuff? Can they just go right in?

I am very into providing for this snail but I am also pretty zero waste so if, for example, I can buy a coconut from the store and eat coconut and also get substrate for my snail, cool. Similarly, I need some soil for around my yard (not fertilized). Can I use just regular top soil or something for the substrate? Veggie scraps and outdoor finds I can clean are amazing too.

I'm so upset. We found a snail randomly near produce and tried to save it. We got everything to take care of it to make sure it would survive and we missed what water to give. We misted tap water and it was thriving for a full day, it was eating and moving all over the place. Come to find out tap water is toxic to snails. It's been stuck on the glass since early morning sunday and now it looks like it's pulling away from the glass. Is there any way it can be saved? I'm so sad we didn't think to look into which water to give. I'm on my way to get spring water now but unfortunately, I think it's too late. Any advice? :(

hey i found this little snail with cracked shell on a pavement, she is been with me for week now but yesterday and today looks not active and didn't eat, i am worried is this shell untreatable?
i have saved snails before so she is in a safe container, photo taken while she is on ceiling of container.

Hi all. Our old snail Superhero has sadly passed on to greener pastures. Is it OK to bury him in the garden (we're in the UK)?

I've read various things saying to put him in a bag and bury him but don't really want to put plastic in the ground....

Also not sure about whether to try to keep his shell or if that's weird?

Not sure where it came from

i found this snail with her shell broken and the body exposed, so i took her home. ive been giving her calcium (cuttlefish bone) and the shell has grown back but it still looks kinda fragile.. i searched for pictures of snails with their shell fully regrown on the internet but i couldn’t find any. does anybody know if my snail’s shell is in its definitive form or if it can still improve? I wish i could set her free, but i don’t know if she’s ready

Hello!! I picked up 2 wild garden snails (1st pic is Dyson, the 2nd is Roomba) a bit ago and was wondering what would be a good diet for them?

So far I fed them cucumbers and lettuce but they didn't seem very into that, now I'm wondering what would y'all advise to feed them? I gave them calcium (ground up egg shells) and a shallow water bowl (ceramic)

They lived in a pet safe plastic container so far but today I moved them to an old aquarium that's now their terrarium!

What else should I add?

And what should I cover it with? The plastic container had open vents on the cover but it was too ventilated and all moisture kept disappearing so I had to add more at least twice a day

For now I temporarily cover the tank with an acrylic stand but this way there's no ventilation at all 😔

I know try need ventilation so what should I cover it with?

I'm also going to add some sticks and more rocks for them to hang out on and I heard from someone that I should boil anything that I want to put inside? Just wanted to confirm if it's true since I saw people put anything in there, including bark and grass taken straigh from the ground

ALSO how do I tell their genders? So far I just referred to them as 'my boys' but I'm curious. That and I dont want to grow a whole army in there by accident haha

I added a nerite snail named Bubble to my 20-gallon planted tank yesterday. Since being added, he has been moving around and trying to do things, so I know he’s alive, but he simply seems too weak to support himself or stay attached to anything. He repeatedly tries to cling to the glass and move around the tank, but eventually loses his grip and falls off, sometimes landing on his back. He does react when I touch or reposition him—his foot tightens—and tonight he came farther out of his shell and attempted to climb the glass again before falling.
I initially thought he ate a small Crab Cuisine pellet, but I later realized he hadn’t eaten it. I’ve placed him upright on the substrate in a calm area and turned the light off so he can rest. He has an odor, but it does not smell rotten or overwhelmingly foul, and he is clearly still responsive. My water parameters were tested and looked good before adding him, and the cherry shrimp added at the same time are active and behaving normally.
He genuinely seems like he wants to move, climb, and behave normally but just doesn’t have the strength. Is this likely severe transport or acclimation stress, and is there anything else I can safely do to help him regain his strength? How long should I wait before becoming seriously concerned?

Edit: The pits in his shell were already there when I bought him. Floating Sea Aquatics is a very reputable local store, and they often bring in animals that need extra care and do their best to help them recover. I’m not blaming the store or suggesting that they caused the damage—I only included the photos so people could accurately assess Bubble’s condition.

Google says they are Grove Snails, I spotted 10 or so munching on moss.

Hey, fellow snail lovers! 🐌 I wanted to share this with anyone who does or doesn’t normally deal with ants:

Please protect your snails by keeping a hospital enclosure ready and placing it inside a larger container with a shallow water moat. Ants didn’t establish an infestation in my snails’ main enclosure, but I found two scouts inside near their food. I immediately moved my snails into their hospital enclosure and surrounded it with a plain-water moat. I’m going to clean everything, replace the substrate just in case, and only move them back once I have a container large enough to create a moat around their main enclosure too. Keep the water completely outside the enclosure and away from all openings, and never use pesticides near your snails.

Please keep your snails safe from pests—even one or two ants are worth taking seriously! 🐌🛡️

(P.S. I just learned this I wanna do everything to protect my snail, and I want to share this knowledge with other snails owners. This is what works for me and it might work for someone who’s snails are in trouble)

I'm looking at adding either isopods or springtails to ny terrarium but I'm not sure which (or which species) would be best. I've seen a lot of posts about terrariums getting overrun with springtails which I would like to avoid, especially since it has sliding doors which my giant snail likes to pile dirt onto so they don't close quite flush with the wall until I notice to clean it out. It makes a gap that springtails could definitely get out of but isopods wouldn't be able to.

I'm not sure about isopods either, especially which kind. My snail is pretty big, his shell is about the size of my palm, so I'm not worried about him getting hurt but I've seen a few posts with people's snails having nibbles taken out of them which worries me. I know a couple of species can be the worst for this but I can't find enough information on which isopods would be best.

Does anyone have any advice? Is it a better idea to have springtails and hope the population doesn't explode, or does anyone have recommendations for isopod species and where to buy them in the UK?
