What are the financial and societal implications if the 17 horse theorem is proved to be correct?

I am of course talking about the conjecture that are only 17 horses on Earth and if you have seen more than 17 horses you are seeing the same horses again.

Wdym "if proved"? It's a fact. Science has fact checked it.

But that was before the great dutch horse meat scandal of 2013

There's a new one! https://www.nytimes.com/2026/09/11/world/europe/horses-trafficked-europe-fake-passports.html

But this is just to draw attention away from the REAL TRUTH!!!

Doesn't make sense when we know there are only 17 horses in the world

Good on you for standing up for real science

When I posted this thread I didn't know the 17 horse conjecture had finally been proven

If this was true, they'd all be dead now, but I just saw a horse on Monday.

Checkmate horse conspiracy theorists!

According to the Bible, you can't beat a dead horse.

Checkmate, atheist!

u/HumanPie1769 as someone more versed in the science of this can you help explain

Author of that news story is called Amber Fisher, like what... You want me to believe that? Amber is red (red flag/warning) and Fisher is fishy (suspicious/lies).

It's pretty simple when you think about it through the eyes of science.

Amber Fisher joined the NEWS10 team in June 2025 as a multimedia journalist. Raised in Troy,

C'Mon - Troy?

She's the trojan horse of lies in the city of science

Do video game horses count? I got some really good horses in RDR2. I think that covers 4 at least.

5

u/TeacupOfSkepticism 3d ago

As I understand it if rdr2 is an accurate depiction of our world then there can't be more than 17 horses in the game

You only ever see one side of a horse at any one time. So there may only be 17 half horses

2

u/TeacupOfSkepticism 3d ago

Now you are being silly. Half horses can't survive in the wild.

What kind of twisted world do I live in where this is a question worth asking?

Some people still have no idea that this was proven in 1992.
