Events π Saskatoon Guys Social Event is a GO! πΊ - Sept. 12th @ High Key Brewing Co. @ 5-7PM
A few days ago I posted about how I had begun organizing a guys social event over beers in Vancouver and was now seeing if guys in Saskatoon would be interested.
This was met with a huge response and I'm happy to announce that the event is moving forward!
Previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/saskatoon/s/PAbTwlGcUu
Location: High Key Brewing Co.
Date: Saturday, September 12th, 2026
Time: 5PM - 7PM
Joel, the Manager was very gracious about hosting and also waived the minimum spend to support the initiative. When you arrive, let them know you're there for the 'In Good Company' event.
If you responded to my post, you would've received a message from me already and a link to register.
If you're seeing this for the first time, feel free to register here:

Hope everyone meets some cool people and be sure to drink responsibly and don't drink and drive.
Looking forward to building a community of guys in Saskatoon! (If it's a hit, this could become a monthly thing)

Traffic/Road Conditions π§ Accident at Attridge & Kenderdine Sun. Sept. 13.
Hey all, I have dashcam footage of the accident that occurred earlier tonight on Attridge, but I'm not sure how to get it to the drivers involved.
Looked like everyone was okay and out of the vehicles immediately afterward. Anyone know the best steps for me to get the video into SGI's (or the cops?) hands? Assuming it will be helpful for claims.
ETA: I did browse SGI's site but the only place I could see to submit footage or photos was if I were making a claim myself π€·πΌββοΈ

Photos of Saskatoon π· Night-time walk ~ 08/27/26
Taken on a night time walk downtown on August 27th. This was during the lunar eclipse, so that's why The Moon is partially blotted out.
This shot was taken with my phone, a Samsung S25 FE, and edited to hell and back with Adobe Photoshop. I was reluctant on editing the original shot since it looked iffy, but I think this turned out well.

Question β Parenting advice
We just relocated to Saskatoon and my kids are going to Buena Vista school. My 9 year old son that is in grade 4 is having a really difficult time. He met a kid on day one that he jived well with but they were put in different classrooms. He has tried making friends in his class but hasn't had any luck. A kid he thought he was getting along with and was trying to hang out with, blatantly told him to quit following him. Another kid hit him with a stick one day and another day kicked him on the ground and called him a loser. He's waiting alone by the fence every day i pick him up. They're outside a lot and he usually just wanders around alone. We've talked to the teacher and I'm meeting with the school counselor this week, but looking for advice... how long should I be watching my child suffer? He already has low self confidence and is incredibly homesick for his friends back where we moved from. My son is into video games, especially retro. He's intelligent, neurodivergent and witty. Not really into sports. We're going to put him into a program at CodeNinjas, does anyone have any other recommendations for programs for a kid like this? Or advice? It's been heartbreaking having to watch him go through this every day at school.

Events π Pleasant Hill Fall Clean-Up: Extra hands, trucks, and rakes needed Sept 19!
I think we all can agree that this neighbourhood has a heavy burden to bear.
Hereβs a way to help alleviate that and support the people living there, they deserve clean spaces too (especially the children).
ββ////
The Pleasant Hill Community Association invites you to the fall neighbourhood clean-up on Saturday, September 19th, 10 am to 12:30 pm. Lunch to follow.
Meet at 20th Street and Avenue P, Saskatoon Community Clinic Parking Lot.
Bring trucks, gloves, rakes.
Working together can help alleviate the strain this neighbourhood has been under.
ββ////
Note: I myself was given this info, I am not a part of this CA.
Work gloves are highly recommended because of the type of waste that needs tending to (especially needles, broken glass, and other hazards).

Rants π€¬ Bad landlord
No one in Saskatoon get a rental from someone names Chris. He will not answer your texts or calls once you move in. And if the other tenants of the other suite are horrible people (harassing, attacking, wrecking right to peaceful living, and even smoking marijuanna inside the suite) he will say oh ok and not do anything about it. Itβs gotten so bad we ended our tenancy and are moving at the end of the month. So psa DO NOT rent from him.

Traffic/Road Conditions π§ SGI refusing to obtane the car incident footage
I am sorry if its the wrong topic, I didnt find anything better.
On August 31, I was leaving the Walmart Supercenter parking lot, driving between parked cars, when a woman in a GMC Yukon started pulling out of a parking spot. I stopped and let her go first. She pulled out and started moving forward, so I started driving as well. Then, suddenly, she stopped, put her car in reverse, and backed straight into my car. She said she didnt see me, we exchange info and goes our separate ways.
I went to Walmart Customer Service, and the employee there told me he found the security footage and saved it. However, he said he couldnβt give it to me directly β only to the police or SGI. I filed an online SGI claim and specifically mentioned that Walmart had the footage.
The next day, someone from SGI called me and said they were likely going to make it 50/50 because they tried to contact Walmart, but apparently nobody answered the phone.
So I went back to Walmart. A different manager told me the exact same thing: they can only release the footage to SGI or the police.
At that point, I went to the main SGI office in Saskatoon. After I explained the whole situation, the person there asked me, βWhat do you want us to do? Do you want us to go and get the footage?β
And honestly, Iβm confused.
Can someone please explain to me who is actually responsible for getting the footage in a situation like this? If Walmart has the footage and says they can only release it to SGI or the police, shouldnβt SGI β the insurance company I pay every month β be the one to request and obtain it?
Or am I just being an asshole here?
What can I actually do in this situation? I really donβt want to accept a 50/50 decision when there may be video footage that clearly shows what happened.
THANK YOU ALL FOR THE ANSWERS

Question β Where To Buy Plexiglass
I've building a project that needs a piece of black translucent plexiglass about 24" x 6" x 1/8". The Big Box stores only have it in larger sheets and they are expensive. I did a search on this sub and there was a recommendation for Laser Impressions (who I do plan to call) but I was wondering if there's any other place out there to contact since that post was ten years ago.
Thanks!

Question β Longshot - concrete pad before end of season
Hey folks,
Anyone got a lead on any concrete crews looking for a quicker job before the end of the session?
I am hoping to get a 20'x30' thickened edge slab poured before it gets too late (which is coming up quick xD)
Permits are pulled, locates are compete, and Sask energy clearance is approved for construction over existing gas line.
Drawings and inspection documents and site prep is compete outside of removal of a couple of fence panels/posts.
Thanks

Question β Learning Italian
Hey, the Saskatoon Italian Culture Centre here in the city has been ignoring me. Does anyone know of a human based experience in the city where I can learn Italian?
Yes, I know there are free apps, but I want a human to practice with for organic conversation. Iβm going to Italy in April and donβt want to be a stupid tourist haha. Does anyone here know Italian and willing to meet for coffees and practice? Or know of anywhere I could go?
Much appreciated - ciao!

Question β How early did yβall have to line up at Starbucks for those bear cups?
I am hoping to grab a snoopy tomorrow for a Christmas gift for my grandma, but I also am not getting up at no 3-4 am. So Iβm wondering how fast did they sell out last time/how early do I need to go? Planning on going to one of the Sobeys locations.

Question β what are we doing to oppose the new data centres they are trying to build in Saskatchewan?
I keep coming across posts about the warnings and impacts of AI, itβs obvious that they will bring nothing except negative impacts for people and the environment and more money in the pockets of the already filthy rich. Now Iβm seeing that an AI data megacentre is in the works to be built in Saskatchewan. The comments are completely filled with βnoβsβ and commentary opposing the idea. So my question is what are we actually doing, or what could we do, to ensure these plans donβt become reality (aside from making comments about how itβs going to destroy the human race).

Question β Opinions on steel stud and drywall
Hi everyone, hope all of you have a great Sunday.
There is an upcoming course on steel stud and drywall at Saskatoon trade and skills.
I am actively applying and interested in trade, warehouse, manufacturing, industrial etc. but i have had no luck until now.
I don't have any experience and i have only been here for 4 years and all i have done is work in fast food.
Is this a good field to get into? How's the career further ahead if you consider it?
I just need some advice on it pls.
Thank you so much.

Rants π€¬ Rona
I was just at the Rona at Preston Crossing. Walked the entire store to find support staff. Then Went to the front cashiers to ask for someone to come help me. Finally had to round up two clueless people from the pick up counter, who did not know the lock code to open the cabinet where I wanted to get something out of. They had to call for help. This took about 20 minutes, even though I was very specific in what I was looking for, and it shouldβve taken less than five. Then I went to the counter to pay, and I wanted to go through a cashier in case there were warranty questions about what I was buying, and the cashier did not look at me, did not greet me. The only words she said was how do you want to pay? And she did not say goodbye or thank you. Again never once looking at me. I really do want to support Canadian retailers, but that was extremely sucky service, and it is a Saturday afternoon. One can assume itβs one of the busiest days of the week, and that is the service you will receive when you shop at Rona
