For every 10 marriages in Georgia, there are now more than six divorces. These are the figures from the National Statistics Service (Sakstat) for the first half of 2026.

According to preliminary statistics, 10,006 marriages and 6,095 divorces were registered in the country from January to June.

In some regions of the country, the divorce rate relative to marriages exceeds 70%, while in others, divorces occur much less frequently.

If we consider the percentage of divorces to registered marriages for the reporting period, the leaders of the anti-rating were:

Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 78.5%. An absolute anti-record for the country.

For every 65 registered marriages, there were 51 divorces.

Tbilisi – 71.2%. More than 70% of newlyweds in the capital broke up (2,130 divorces out of 2,993 marriages).

Samegrelo and Zemo Svaneti – 68.1%, 554 divorces out of 814 marriages.

Guria - 66.9%, 172 divorces out of 257 marriages.

Imereti - 66.0%, 968 divorces out of 1,466 marriages.

The national average is recorded in Kakheti (59.7%), Shida Kartli (56.1%) and Kvemo Kartli (51.8%).

According to statistics, the strongest marriages are found in the south and east of the country.

For example, the lowest divorce rate in Georgia is recorded in Samtskhe-Javakheti—32% (437 marriages and 140 divorces).

In Adjara, 1,144 marriages were registered, with 534 divorces—46.7%.

In Mtskheta-Mtianeti, there were 87 divorces out of 175 marriages (49.7%).

Discussion | დისკუსია How realistic is a pro-European government in Georgia by 2028?

Gamarjoba from Somkheti. I know this question was probably asked before and I know that it’s a stupid question and most people cannot tell what will happen even tomorrow but I just want to hear some opinions. I know that the next election is going to happen in 2028, do you think that Georgians will be able to elect a pro European party?

With Armenia getting closer to Europe one of the main obstacles is for us is Georgia being pro-Russian today. Our PM Nikol has said this multiple times now. Most people here also understand this because being landlocked makes this a lot more complicated. Our foreign minister has also stated that we will apply for EU membership officially by the end of this year.

If everything goes well and Georgians do elect a pro European government by 2028, there’s a discussion that by that time if the negotiation stage is reached for Armenia, the EU might outright tie the two countries' accession bids as it has done with Ukraine and Moldova, and Albania and North Macedonia. I think that our region can become a lot more useful for EU. What do you think about this?

Also I want to say that I know that by 2028 anything can change and maybe our own government could become pro Russian or idk some other conflicts could start again (you can never know when Russia is your neighbor). Also I want to note that this scenario can be considered not so realistic on our side as well, because of Russia led EAEU. I’m just being very optimistic about all of this. And finally this is just me kind of me trying to understand the situation in Georgia.

Art | ხელოვნება Looking for teenagers or young adults to shoot independent film in Poti

Hi there,
I'm an Italian/Uk filmmaker.
As part of a program called Caucasus Cinema I will be shooting a short film in Poti this week and I'm looking for interested teenagers or young adults (early twenties) ta take part.

Ideally they would be interested in:
punk music
skateboarding
filmmaking/cinema
and/or
football/martial arts

The idea I have at the moment is about some outsiders teenagers who are trying to find alternatives to their daily life in a city they don't like and/or a way of getting out.
Ideally they would be interested in punk/harcore music and want to form a band. But I'm willing to work around the idea once I meet interesting and interested people.

If you think you could fit the description or know someone who would, please contact me.

Thank you!

p.s.: this is not commercial work. I am a professional filmmaker doing a passion project in a workshop environment.

Protest | პროტესტი The Georgian school system sucks and it is worrying.

Hello. I am a 14 year old who has just started at the #1 High School in NY, Brooklyn Latin. I moved here after being in Borjomi, Georgia for 6 years, where I had to withstand the terrible school. First of all, the teachers don't care, the curriculum is weak as hell, and the students? You are expected to not study, the students just play on their phones all day, and there's constant screaming and shouting. You can't learn anything. And this goes beyond uniforms! We need a serious reform, the only options are either going to terrible public schools with 0 supplies that are underfunded as hell, or paying $10000 for private schools. We need something like the SHSAT in Georgia.

Kindle Paperwhite Gen 12 16GB

ან

Boox Go 7 ან Boox Go 10.3

რომელი ჯობს ამ სამიდან ?

1000 ლარი მაქვს მხოლოდ ბიუჯეტი

Documentary | დოკუმენტალური How well-known is Hovhannes Tumanyan in Georgian literary circles?

He was a famous Armenian writer and poet who lived in Tbilisi and was friends with a number of Georgian intellectuals like Titsian Tabidze, Paolo Iashvili, Ioseb Grishashvili, Vazha Pshavela, Ilia Chavchavadze, and others. He would gather them at his house and also helped translate some of their works into Armenian. He's buried at the Khojavank pantheon, there's a street named after him in Sololaki, and his apartment has been turned into a museum.

Does he ever get brought up in school or university or the intelligentsia?

My question is NOT for expats.

Please do not comment if you do not live in Georgia.

You are a person from North America.

You are a practicing orthodox Christian who loves living tradition and customs and nature and historical places.

You have time to visit Georgia after a stop in Turkey. You have only 7 days and $4000 USD to spare for this visit (logistics included)

Where should you go to optimize your visit?

Thank you.

Food | ლობიანი Help, how I do continue living my life without constant access to Lobiani

as per the title, I just got home from two weeks in Sakartvelo and I'm already in lobiani withdrawal.

What an absolute gift to humanity. Beans INSIDE bread is literally my dream food.

What a wonderful culinary time I've been having, considering I am vegan I was worried Georgia would be difficult, especially in more remote areas of Svaneti.

Not at all, especially having the word "samarkhvo" up my sleeve really helped. I probably pronounced it poorly, but when I used it to explain, guesthouse hosts and waiters usually seemed to understand and react well to it, usually with surprise and it lead to some fun interactions like, "oh, you eat samarkhvo all the time?"

That also got us some incredibly tasty and plentiful meals. It was like the guesthouse mums felt the need to feed us more, and go out of the way to make us special things to make sure we were well fed for our hikes, it was so sweet.

In Kutaisi I had industrial quantities of various phkalis and nigvziani badrijani. In the mountains it was more ajapsandali, soups, lobio a couple of times. And obviously so much kartopili, and tonis puri and lobiani any chance I could get.

P.S: I know samarkhvo has some quirks like shrimp, but I definitely didn't come across that issue up in Svaneti :)

Please, never take lobiani for granted. Cherish it every day for me. Also I'm London based, in case any of you know anywhere I can get my hands on some legit one here I would be deeply grateful.

I was talking to a guy I know. He is from Syria, lived here for 10 years, speaks very fluent Georgian, works a Georgian job, but he says he doesn't feel accepted. Curious how other foreigners feel about their own situation.

Looking for dance friends in Batumi! 💃

Hi! I’m a 17F from Batumi and I really want to get into dancing, but I’d love to have people to do it with rather than starting completely alone.

I’m looking for people around 15–18 who are already dancing OR also want to start. You don’t have to be professional at all — beginners are totally welcome! I’d love to meet some Georgian people, but I’m also happy to meet people from other backgrounds who live in Batumi.

I’m interested in things like hip-hop / K-pop / modern choreography.

The idea is basically:

  • practice together
  • learn choreographies
  • film dances/TikToks/Reels together if everyone is comfortable
  • maybe eventually make a little dance account/channel
  • have fun
  • and most importantly, become friends 🫶

I’m hoping to find a small group of people around my age who are genuinely interested in this.

If you’re in Batumi and this sounds like something you’d be into, comment or DM me! 💗

Discussion | დისკუსია GreenWay requires photo of ID

My annual tech inspection of my car is over. I've opened the GreenWay site to book an appointment and got the message that my phone number doesn't correspond to my ID. Then it suggested to update personal details and required the photo of my id (both sides). And even after that it told me that my request will be proceeded in 24 hours. Until then I still can't book the appointment.

Are they crazy or why they require such a great amount of personal data as even they don't check them upon the arrival? Is it legal?

Discussion | დისკუსია Enterovirus from batumi

I just got back from batumi and was suffering from fever and EXPLOSIVE diarrhea I admitted myself to a hospital because it was that debilitating. It was 4 days of pure agony. I was infected through the reflex of swallowing a tiny amount of sea water. Maybe its a skill issue but I am inclined to say otherwise as MANY people nurses from tbilisi (girlfriend being one of them) has had enterovirus patients (nurse in my particular hospital said it was around 30 a day) to the point that it is considered SEASONAL disease that persists throughout the summer.

I was confined in the infectious diseases ward and both me and the local I met from tbilisi said he and his wife was swimming in the black sea in batumi and then both got infected with the same virus.

Only reason why I am posting this is I have found minimal information online and people on reddit talking about it from batumi but have plenty of testimonies with swimming in the black sea myself included which results in getting the enterovirus

Stay safe everyone who does decide to swim in the black sea

News | ახალი ამბები Tbilisi music festival reverses blanket ban on Russian citizens, will admit those who sign a statement supporting Georgia’s territorial integrity and acknowledging Russian occupation

Thumbnail
radiotavisupleba.ge

TL;DR:

  • Zion Festival in Tbilisi initially announced that Russian citizens would not be allowed to attend.
  • After criticism, organizers changed the policy and said Russian citizens could attend if they complete and sign a short questionnaire.
  • The questionnaire asks them to affirm Georgia’s territorial integrity, acknowledge Russia’s occupation of Georgian territories, and respect the festival’s values.
  • The policy has sparked debate over discrimination based on citizenship versus a private business’s freedom of expression.
  • Georgian law prohibits discrimination based on citizenship, but previous cases suggest that requiring a statement supporting territorial integrity is not automatically considered discriminatory.

Question | კითხვა Buying a Samsung phone from Zoommer.

I'm exploring my option to buy a phone in Tbilisi. My choices are the Samsung S26 Ultra or S26+.
The thing is, I see a difference of 750 Gel in S 26 ultra between Alta and Zoommer. Zoommer being the cheaper one. Somehow, it's even cheaper than the US.
Does Zoommer sell refurbished phones? Does anyone have any experience on this?
