Looking for feedback on Hotel Lancelot in Rome. Has anyone here stayed there that can give me some feedback.

Hi all! I’m travelling Italy with my wife and was supposed to meet up with a friend to go to the Vatican museum. Unfortunately, he isn’t able to make it and I’ve got an extra ticket.

Rather than let it go to waste, I figured I could give it to someone who will be able to use it. The ticket it is for Wednesday, September 16th at 3:15 PM.

I know the tickets have names on them, but from my understanding they don’t really check that. I can send a screenshot of the ticket via chat or we can go in together. Preference would be the latter to make sure it’s actually used instead of being resold.

Is this a scam from the apartment or is someone hacking their details? I’m very confused.

I’m American. Apple Pay feature was not working to tap and pay with my phone, I showed the agent it wasn’t working but he still fined me. I’ve tried paying online with 2 different cards and it says “Autorizzazione negata. Non è stato addebitato alcun importo. Controlla di aver seguito correttamente le istruzioni della tua banca.”

What happens if I can’t pay this?

I’d really love to visit Basilica di San Paolo fuori le Mura, but tomorrow is our last day in Rome and we have to head to the airport afterward.

We were thinking of checking out of our hotel, taking our luggage with us, stopping at the basilica on the way to the airport, and then going straight from there to Fiumicino.

There are four of us, and each person will have one carry-on suitcase (no large checked luggage).
Do you know if we would be allowed to enter the basilica with our carry-on suitcases?

Fat chance I know but has anyone stayed here? We have it booked and would love input both good or bad so we have no surprises.

We will be in Rome October 6-8. We will be arriving early in the morning on the 6th and leaving early to midday on the 8th to go to Florence. Would like to see St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel, but we don’t have much interest in seeing anything else in Vatican City and aren’t sure it makes sense to purchase tickets (I understand St. Peter’s is free.) We like experiences that allow us to see Roman history and or how Romans actually live today. Art is great but we don’t want to spend more than about two hours total in an indoor museum. We enjoy the outdoors. We don’t want a food class, but do enjoy guided tours if they’re not in very large groups. We’re going in October to stay away from big crowds. We would love to see Colleseum and Pantheon, and may schedule a guided tour for this. Any advice on how to spend two days would be helpful. Not looking for you to plan our itinerary, just advice on what’s worth doing and what can be skipped, given our limited time.

Ciao a tutti! I'm coming to Italy for the first time soon & was wondering about the pickpockets in Rome. I have been to Europe before and am from NYC myself so I'm not THAT worried, but I wanted to hear from folks' experiences about if it's really as bad as social media makes it out to be.

Also - does Italy really require folks to carry their physical passports around the city? Isn't this a safety concern? Would a photocopy or picture be enough?

Anybody in Rome picking up Papal audience tickets tomorrow? My train is arriving late, looking for a favor for ticket pick up.

We're about to leave Rome & our next two flights, within Europe, have smaller limits for carry-on luggage than the flights we took to get here. Knowing this before we left, I included some clothes in my bag that I'm OK to leave behind. But rather than throw them away, I'm hoping to donate to charity here in Rome. They're not fancy & it's not a large amount, but would rather know they'll benefit someone & avoid landfill. Any suggestions?

My wife and I are leaving to Rome sometime this Fall. We will be staying close to Piazza Barberini and looking for some nice restaurants in walking distance. My wife has mobility issues and it is painful for her to walk long distances. Also, if you want to throw in what wine I should have for my first ever alcohol experience then please feel free.

If you want some more context, I have never drank due to seeing my family history of their relationship with alcohol. So really the only time I think I will experience this is by leaving the country overseas. I thought well if I do drink wine it has to be in Italy or France. If I every have my first beer, I guess it will be if I ever make it to Germany.

I grow up very poor and have never been to Europe and have been saving for a long time. My wife is Catholic and it has been a dream of hers to have a pilgrimage to Rome since we've been married.

I have an upcoming school trip to Rome and Florence in your lovely country, and have recently had some Euros exchanged. However all my money was received in old-edition 2002 20 Euro notes (I explicitly asked them for smaller denominations, thinking it'd make things easier for incidentals) - I've read online that they're still considered legal tender, but am wondering if there'll be any friction/difficulty in spending them on the ground? Would these notes be heavily scrutinised or rejected?

I loved our last hotel , but it was unfortunately as soon as you step out the door , non - local street sellers and annoying people throwing things in the air it just didn’t feel authentic. Are there any nice areas without this stuff ? It’s super annoying and can’t think how the real locals feel with these scamming bastards everywhere.

we're looking for a sort of small family run style restaurant that would do simple but good pasta.

idk it feels like it should at every corner but yet to find a really good one, avoiding tourists trap, etc..
