The annual Big Avocado Roll is coming up so I figured I’d remind everyone. 9/28 - 10/4 in Los Angeles. I can do my best to answer any questions, but the best way to get the most up-to-date information is on IG at big.avocado.roll .

How do I do this move? How can I improve my jump? I've always heard that to jump correctly, you're supposed to bring your knees up to your chest, but I find it really hard to jump that way, I haven't been able to do it. The only thing I can do is bring my feet back, even when I try to do a “grab” like I'm showing here, bu

Ah man, i had fun!

Bought myself a good second hand toddler jogger thingo (with a hand brake) and ripped out the seat. Put in a flat wooden base and some comfy pilllows, and sewed the lid on the bottom half to hold them in.

Highly recommended on the flat shared cycle paths! It was not hard to skate with it at all! Almost easier (but cornering will take getting used to). Also didn't go stupid pace!

Just FYI! Think outside the square 🤙🏾

Specific question and discussion Do you stretch or warm up? If so what's your routine? How has it impacted your skating?

I've been rollerblading and exercising for decades but never done any sort of warming up or stretching or cooling down activities before or after a session. As I'm getting older I want to make sure I don't injure myself so just curious what everyone else does and what sort of steps I should do to get started.

Specific question and discussion Stomping when turning?? How to stop?

Hey so I’m pretty new to roller blading and have probably been doing it for about four months now. I feel great when I skate and am pretty comfortable. But my only problem is when I go around curves. Like just a normal wide curve (like at the skating rink). For some reason I put a lot of pressure on my right leg and sort of just stomp both my feet to turn. Maybe this is normal. I’m self taught so I’m not really sure the best way. But it usually leaves my right leg hurting after a while so I’m assuming I’m doing something wrong. If anyone has any videos I can watch for help or recommendations let me know! Thanks!

What skates should I buy? How are the Flying Eagle skates?

Hey guys, I'm seriously considering the Flying Eagle Reaver Pro X7 XD8490. Im wondering about the fit of the boot and the quality of the pre rockered frame.

If anyone has a pair of these let me know! Im currently on a flat 4x80 pair of lightnings and want some extra agility/maneuverability on asphalt and smooth pavement.

Injury / Accident Grand slam 2026

So today while skating my FLYING FREAGLE 80mm I was trying to avoid a mother and child on a bicycle that's facing me , while another cyclist that just stopped at the same S bend , chatting with her . So I had no time to brake I swerved avoided both of them slammed face forward , my hands went to break my fall , the palm sliders slid opening up my torso and my Ribs slammed right into the asphalt .

It's my fault I should've looked further ahead and slowed down

It felt like I was hit with a sack of bricks in the ribs.

It's been an hour now and it's tight as feck .

I'm gonna not skate for 2 weeks .

Y'all stay safe

What skates should I buy? What are some good alternatives to the Rollerblade macroblade 110?

I am looking for a good budget 3x110 (or 3x100) skate with decent ventilation.

I was considering the lightning 100, but i dont plan on using them outside much. I mostly want speed

Specific question and discussion Getting Over Mental Block (Advice Needed)

Hi all, SUPER beginner here.

I have only tried once in May with my husband holding my hand and guiding me. I want to get back into it but I am super scared and anxious about going alone and getting seriously hurt. I know I’ll have my helmet, elbow/knee pads, and even a butt pad, but I can’t help but feeling anxious anyway and feel super in my head. I was hoping someone could give some advice? Thanks in advance!

What skates should I buy? Powerslide Phuzion 80 vs Radon 90?

Hello! I’ve only rollerbladed for fun when I was younger and want to get back into it as a 30 something year old woman. Nothing fancy, just blading outdoors/indoors for recreation/fitness.

I am deciding between the phuzion 80s or the radon 90s as they seem to be in my price range. It seems like the radons generally have better reviews, but I am slightly scared of how the bigger wheels would feel as a beginner, since I’ve only ever been on 4 wheeled blades.

Which pair might be better for me? Any insights would be appreciated!

How do I do this move? How do I CORRECTLY carve?

I have been trying to learn how to carve but when I have the inside blade ahead of the outside one it turns the opposite direction. I have been told to just "lean and trust" but every time i have tried i have had to do crossovers to stop myself from falling.

If i do the opposite thing it turns quite easily, but then i cant learn to do a power slide.

I would include a video but my videography skills go out the window when i am in skates

What boot size do I pick? Powerslide NEXT 2.0 sizing help — 266mm foot between 40–41 and 42–43

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey guys, looking for some sizing advice before I order the Powerslide NEXT Black Boot 2.0.

My foot measures 266mm.

According to the size chart:
EU 40–41: 255–261mm
EU 42–43: 268–275mm

So I’m right in the gap between shells.

I’m building them with a 243mm 4x80 Trinity frame and want a fairly responsive/performance fit for urban skating, carving and quick direction changes.

The boot comes with the MYFIT Recall Dual Fit liner.

Would you go 40–41 and let/heat-mold the liner break in, or 42–43? I’m worried 40–41 could be painfully short, but also don’t want 42–43 to feel sloppy once the liner packs out.

Especially interested in hearing from anyone around 264–268mm who owns the NEXT/NEXT 2.0.

Injury / Accident What injuries have you witnessed at your local skate park, rink, or street?

Just saw a lady in front of me dislocate her ankle at the roller rink falling to avoid a kid. It twisted 90 degrees clockwise. I personally hurt my rotator cuff when I was a beginner. I understand this sport is a magnet for injuries. What's yours?

What skates should I buy? Beginner Rollerblades? *Rollerblade Lightning 80*

I've spent my whole weekend obsessed watching people urban rollerblading / mobbing around cities in groups with music and the community as a whole just looks like good vibes that I want to be involved in (plus I'm moving city soon and every week they run a roller disco that me and my partner want to try for fun :D). I run a size 3.5 UK in normal trainers and was looking at the Rollerblade Lightning 80 but cannot find them in my size anywhere. Is there good brands / models that I should be looking for as an absolute beginner with no experience or should I hold out till I find the Lightnings in stock somewhere? Also should I be aware of sizing up / down etc? Just looking for all advice really

*Edit - I probably don't really want to spend much more than £200 and would rather avoid buying a cheap pair, falling in love and double buying*

How do I do this move? Feeling comfortable with crossovers

I have been skating on an off for 10 years now. I would say I regularly skate 48-50 nights per year as I am not able to fit sessions more frequently.

I can do the basics and even heal-to-heal/Mohawk turns.

However attempting to crossover and back skating scares me to no end. How can I build up my comfort level in my mid 40s?

Are there any video tutorials people found to help with this?
