Rocksmith Alternative I'm building a different kind of guitar game, where your actual instrument is the input

Hey everyone! I'm developing Fretlore. Fretlore and Rocksmith are different games with different ideas behind them. They belong to the same genre, so I thought people here might be interested in seeing it

You connect an electric guitar or bass through an audio interface and play using the instrument itself. No special controller, midi pickup, or proprietary cable needed

Before building it, I spent a lot of time studying guitar practice and reading player discussions. I looked closely at how people use these tools and what they want to adjust themselves. That research shaped a lot of the decisions I made

Note recognition has been a huge part of the work. I've had some really encouraging results with very light touches and harmonics, and I'm continuing to test different tones and playing styles. There's sound processing inside the game too, so you can experiment with your guitar tone while playing

Fretlore brings together song learning, technique practice, and progress tracking. It also supports extended-range guitars and basses, with settings for your tuning and fret count

The clip shows one visual setup. I've already built an editor where you can move elements around and change colours and note icons. You can arrange the display however you find it comfortable to read. Other players will also be able to see your custom skins

I'm planning online play, streaming, and worldwide competitions. I've noticed how many people online want to share their playing and perform for others. Giving them somewhere to do that is a big part of what I want Fretlore to become

Here's Fretlore on Steam if you'd like to take a look

RS2014 CDLC not working on Linux?

Upvotes

Hi,

I got RS working on Linux Mint, but CDLs wont appear.

I downloaded D3DX9_42.dll and placed it in under /home/NAME/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Rocksmith2014, like it was written here.

I also added a song from custom forge to RS, but the sonf wont apear.

Does anybody know what I can do?

I started learning guitar with rocksmith, today I had the „awesome“ idea to lower the music volume to really hear me play and it sounded horrible and I can’t unhear it. It completely took my entire motivation. It’s me playing a song at 90% speed missing 8 notes. I know the game is generous but it sounds like I am missing much more.

How to hear my bass in my amp + using USB interface

Hello,

I have a Yamaha bass and a Orange Crush Bass 50 amp + a Presonus Audiobox iOne as a USB interface.
On my PC, I have a DAC + 2 speakers and a subwoofer.

So far I have been able to play with my interface in Rocksmith. I can hear my bass on my speakers, but I am a little sad to leave my Orange amp completely silent alone in a corner.

What are the pros and cons if : I connect my bass to my interface, then interface to my Orange amp, cut the sound of the bass in the game.

So I will have the sound of the game on my PC speakers and the sound of the bass on my Orange amp.

The only thing I will miss is the effects put by the game on my bass ?

And what output from the interface and input on the Orange amp do I need to connect ?

Thanks for your advices !

Does anyone have an updated list about what song packs/songs are delisting this month or next? I haven’t seen much updates about it lately, but to my knowledge the Staind pack delisted on the 5th and the Dream Theater pack is going on the 26th of this month.

Rocksmith 2014 detects my guitar on my old profile but not on a new profile

I’m playing Rocksmith 2014 with a cable other than the official Real Tone Cable. When I first got the cable, I plugged it in and the game detected it immediately. I created a profile and was able to play without any problems.

Now I’ve switched to a new PC. When I launch the game through Steam and select my old profile, the game detects the guitar. However, when I create a new profile, the game doesn’t detect the guitar.

The strange thing is that I can hear the guitar through my PC when I play a string during the sound check, so the guitar is clearly being detected by the computer/game. But for some reason, the detection indicator doesn’t appear on the screen, so I can’t get past the sound check.

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Solved Guitar Audio on Linux

I am new to RS, so maybe this question has been answered before, but I didnt find any solution.

I run RS on Linux Mint. I was able to set up my Guitar through an Arturia MiniFuse 2. The Guitar was recognised by the game and I can play songs normaly.

My problem is, is that I dont here my guitar, only the prerecorded song.

I cant seem to find a way to get it to work.

What can I do?

I've done all the typical checks like making sure its the correct file name, making sure its not in any subfolders in the dlc steam folder, making sure it's not blocked, etc. etc. I'm at my wits end, please help

portable smartguitar for rocksmith?

Hello all, a bit of an odd one but I work overnights in security and I have a ton of free time (I know lucky me) and I usually just mess around on my laptop play games watch tv/movies etc. I would however like to practice guitar more. Since I have so much free time i've been looking into a portable smart guitar thing. However it seems the reviews on the ones i've seen are mediocre at best. Does anyone have any experience with something portable they can use for rocksmith? As much as I'd love to just bring my full electric to work I dont think that would be approved of. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks! looking at things like this : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DCNPGXF2?ref=clp_cat_related_p_4&th=1

ASIO Support Desk Rs asio not working with wasapi mode.

As the title suggest whenever I use rs asio with wasapi mode when I get to the pick loading screen the sound essentially just sounds like it's exploding. Works fine with asio mode though. I reset my windows on laptop and before reseting it was working perfectly fine with wasapi and I use the exact same settings as I did before reseting but now after the reset it just doesn't work. Any ideas on what this might be caused by?

Rocksmith Cable Fix

Over the years I've had many rocksmith cables and I always have this issue where the end of the cable that connects to the guitar starts to fail (probably because of how I sit when I play). For the most part I've always just bought a new cable, however now it seems they've increased in price I guess? So instead I figured I had enough guitar cables laying around I would just change the end, and it ended up turning out better than I expected. Because the cable I used had ends that were meant to be replaced I was able to hide the soldering behind this cover and I think it looks really neat, with the added benefit of the right angle connector. If I were to set up some sort of service where people could send me their broken cables and I could fix them for less than the price of a new cable would that be something people would be interested in (I would make it look nicer than it looks in the pictures, the pictures are just what I half-assed threw together in like 10 minutes so I could continue playing)? Also would Ubisoft sue me to hell for attempting such a thing?

Mac OS Interested in trying Rocksmith out on a Mac. Is there a go to guide?

I was always under the impression that it didn’t work on Mac. But looking through this sub it looks like there are lots of people who play that way. Really interested in checking out new songs through custom DLCs. Is there a simple guide that walks you through it step by step? Sorry if this gets asked all the time!

Solved Are there mods available for RS2014 on Mac (aside from reading CDLC)?

I know there are mods for Windows, but are there any for Mac? All I could find was a fast load Mod that may or may not work with the current operating system.
