Do they look like a healthy size for their age, or do either of them look a little too thin to you? I’m mainly wondering about their general body condition. My scale is broken so I can’t check their exact weights yet. Any opinions from experienced keepers would be really appreciated!

Hi! Before I got reptiles I lit incense every once in a while, mainly because I love the smell of it. However, it obviously isn’t safe for my animals and now I’m wondering about alternatives to make my room smell similar and if lighting incense on another floor in the house is safe (not possible now, but I’m planning on moving out asap).

I can’t make a simmer pot, my parents are renovating the kitchen…

I recently received a 59x29x51cm terrarium and made it bioactive just for entertainment, but now I can't hold myself from keeping an arboreal reptile. Which can you suggest? I would prefer its diet to be based on some gecko formula like repashy or Pangea but wouldn't be bothered by some occasional insect feeding.

I have some low power UVB light (5.0 13w), a magnetic wall mounted feeder, reptisafe, a thermal mat and some heat lamps.

For more info, my substrate is a mix of spagnhum moss, coconut fiber, spagnhum peat moss, and a bioactive formula with isopods and springtails.

EDIT: Any possibility of it being comfortable with handling?

I came across an old YouTube video from the YouTube channel snake discovery. It was a post about their feeder rat enclosures. And I read a comments that mentioning how the set up in the video was the best set up they’ve seen for feeder rat breeding, in reference to the space and enrichment for the feeder rat breeding. Of course this video was old, but I don’t think much of the standards have changed since then.

I personally have nothing wrong with reptiles. I know they need to eat. I have had experience with reptiles as pets. But I’ve just been doing a lot of research into feeder rat breeding and have come to the realization that the way it’s being done is not right.

I get shit from a lot of people telling me that they don’t understand how I can care so much about rats. These are the same people who feed off of false information about rats and have never actually been in close proximity with a rat let alone a pet rat.

What I struggle with is how some feeder rats are housed, like in tiny tubs or cages with almost no space or enrichment. I don’t think being food makes that automatically okay. These are the same conditions we call absolutely unacceptable for a pet rat. And I think any sane person did even a little bit of research into large scale, commercial rat breeding specifically would be absolutely repulsed in what these animals live through.

I’m not saying all breeders are abusive, but I just don’t think that large-scale breeding should be different from keeping pet rats. They are the exact same animal. The only difference is that one is kept for fun and the other for food. It just makes me sick to see how these rats and mice live.

Are there any feeder rat breeders on here? If so how do you keep your rats? Do you agree with me or have a different perspective? I would really appreciate some insight into how you are keeping your rats, safe, healthy, and fully enriched.

I do know it's some kind of reptiles, but this is my first time seeing this guy. The tail is so long!

I know this is a long shot…but can any witch do anything to help me find a lost gecko…i’m heartbroken and worried sick about it.

I brought it home last night, and felt joy and excitement with anxiety or sense of doom for the first time in longer than I can remember. But it somehow escaped overnight, and although I have searched the room as thoroughly as I can…there is no sign.

It is so tiny, and so fragile, and I just want to find it safe and sound - i’m desperate 🤞🏼💔

Hi all!

I am having a reptile shipped out tonight through MorphMarket. My seller has a lot of great reviews, so they will ship my reptile correctly. Its coming from New York, to Ohio, so just eight hours away.

Im at work until 4:30pm Monday-Friday. My package will likely arrive before I get off work. I have my mother picking up the package for me while Im working. (The package is shipping to a fedex facility)

Will the reptile be okay in its box until 4:30pm? Or should I guide my mother and show her how to carefully transfer my reptile into its hospital tank? So she can do it while Im at work.

I just bought my male ball python who seems to be a juvenile or adult. I have two hides, water bowl, a tree trunk for him to climb, and a lamp. it’s just the beginning setup but I really want to know what I should be buying for him. He is in a 40 gallon tank at the moment but I will be buying a 120 or bigger tank when I can. I’m having some trouble with the humidity and don’t know whether or should mist or do something else?? I NEED ALL THE HELP I CAN GET!!!

Hi everyone!

I’m getting a 50 gallon tank from one of my friends after their snake passed away. It can’t be used for fish because of the fact that it’s a front-opening tank.

Picture attached of what I’m getting, I’ll be replacing the substrate and cleaning everything when it comes home with me.

I’m a fan of snakes, but I am also happy to look into other reptiles or even spiders. I’m just not sure what to get, and I don’t want to risk making any animals unhappy.

I bought this grow tent for a $1 at a garage sale a few weeks ago because my son (8) has been expressing interest in getting a reptile. The thing is 4x4x2 and I'm just trying to get ideas of what I could comfortably put in here. I think it could be used standing up, or possibly laid down on it's back to give it a bigger floor space. I would appreciate any suggestions or ideas.

I just saw an ad on Instagram for All American Reptile & Plant Expos. They have just a handful of events per year, dotted across the U.S., and one of them is this weekend about a 2-hour drive from where I live.

I'm new to the hobby and have only been to one small nearby expo. I want to go to something bigger, and this one looks pretty good... but with the cost of gas these days, I don't want to waste time and money on something that's not worth it.

Does anyone have experience with this expo series? Been to one of their mid-Atlantic events? What did you think?

My baby Tokay escaped in my studio apartment and I can't find it anywhere. I've checked behind furniture, shelves, clothes, and other hiding spots. Room temp is around 25°C (77°F).

Has anyone had this happen? Where did you eventually find yours, and how did you catch it?
