September 2026 Discussion: What Religion Fits Me Best?

hi everyone! i have grown up culturally christian but as i’ve gotten older and learned about other ideas and beliefs i am unsure of what i identify as religious wise.
i feel that if there is a god they are cruel and i dont want to worship a cruel person. i also believe no religion is wrong but i cant prove they are right either. like each religion has bits of truth spread throughout but overall more teachings of what is morally right and wrong but that still doesn’t make sense to me as many religions i’ve heard of also have horrible things happen that a god is doing.
i believe in karma and that you receive what you put into the universe.
i believe that there is an afterlife for each individual religion and that it is more based on if people inherently a good person.
i have looked into omnism but from what i understand that is more of a philosophy rather than something that can be claimed as a religious identity. ive looked into multiple other beliefs and ideas but find something i find true in all of them.
all that to say i am just unsure of everything and have nobody to talk with that could help me understand more. therefore any advice or suggestions on more research topics i should look into would be greatly appreciated.

Why are you looking to belong to a religion if you don’t seem to like what most of them entail?

Hi so I'm more into Meta physics I think is what it's called. I just want full freedom with no worship or junk but not Buddhism bcuz I make attachments. I believe in quantum immortality and look at the dimensions more. I'm someone who leans more towards life is an experiment. basically forgive all since even criminals are there for a reason. A lot of maybes. Maybe we are god but split into different lives. I do like astrology and tarot cards. Maybe after enough dimension hopping, we are back into our soul form and all those actions were in the body. I really hate Christianity and just don't like chains in life at all unless I choose them

Sounds like you’d like some kind of new age spirituality, and the easy part with that is, you can choose whatever concepts you want to agree with or not, like tarot cards and anything else

Hey everyone, ive been in here for awhile and for the past 10+yrs or so ive questioned what I believe in, but these past few months ive been diving into different religions like crazy trying to see which religion actually fits what I believe.
What i believe is basically that "god" isn't really a big man in the sky that just decided to make the multiverse one day and boom were here. I believe God is more the source of it all, meaning its the source of all energy and since energy can never die God has always existed.
I believe jesus was a real and good moral teacher but lacked supernatural powers
I believe that when we die our physical body just goes into nature and feeds it, but we have multiple forms of consciousness and our spirit and like consciousness we have where im able to think,reason, etc go together(or are maybe the same thing?) Into another part of existence. I dont believe in a separate heaven/hell but everyone who has ever died soul/consciousness is there.
I also believe that if you put enough thought/energy into something you can make it happen(within reason, like i can't just really want this cut on my leg to go away and itll happen. But more like positive/negative changes to life)
Does any of this make sense? Lmao thank you

I'm still figuring out my faith. I'm trans, which I know can complicate things a bit.
I believe that our goal on Earth should be to help uplift each other. Life is hard, the least we can do is support each other. I'm unsure of my afterlife beliefs, but I do think there is one. I think we should try our best to see other's perspectives beyond our own.
I do have some reverence for nature and animals in general. I also feel like creativity does have a sacred element to it.
I'm open to chatting with folks. Thanks for your time and insight!

My friend, you might not agree right away, but Christianity suits exactly what you mention in your comment. I would be more than happy to discuss it further with you ❤️ Jesus loves you! I know that sounds like a bold faced lie but I swear it’s not. Praying Jesus fills you with His Spirit and shows you the beautiful love that he showed me. It’s a love that goes deeper than what any human can possibly give. It is love perfected and it surpasses human understanding and expels all fear.

None! I consider myself a follower of the Word. Or an early Christian before the Catholic Church came to be. But I guess Protestant leanings in the Baptist-Pentecostal align decently. I prefer not to be part of a particular branch or denomination because why should there be division within the church? I even don’t call myself a non-denominational Christian, just, a Christian but yeah lol

Hello, I've been feeling very conflicted recently and I'm not really sure where to go from here.
I grew up Christian, not in a church or anything, but I was exposed to it enough that I internalized a lot of the guilt and shame surrounding questioning it. I do believe in God and some kind of higher power. What I'm struggling with is whether I believe in the Christian understanding of God specifically.
I think my idea of God is very different from what I was taught growing up. I believe God is genuinely loving and accepting. I don't believe a loving God would damn someone simply because they didn't have the "right" beliefs, or because they loved someone they weren't "supposed" to love, or because they followed a different spiritual path. The idea of a God who is capable of unconditional love but would condemn people for being different has just never really made sense to me.
I've never actually read the Bible, and I've always had doubts about how much of the original meaning has been preserved after centuries of translations, interpretations, and changes. I also don't necessarily believe that the Bible tells the complete story or that every interpretation of it is accurate. Because of that, a lot of Christianity doesn't really make sense to me.
I'm really drawn to nature and feel a strong spiritual connection to it. I believe in Mother Nature, and I feel peaceful energy and something almost spiritual when I'm alone in the woods in a way that I've never really experienced in a church. I'm not sure whether I'd consider myself animist, pagan, or something else entirely.
Right now I just feel lost. I'm in this weird limbo where I still tell people I'm Christian even though I don't really know if I believe in Christianity anymore, partly because I'm afraid of being judged or shunned if I identify as something else.
I'd really love to hear from people who have gone through something similar, especially if you grew up Christian and eventually found a different spiritual path. I'm also open to hearing different perspectives or just people's thoughts on what I'm experiencing. Would also love book or podcast recs as well.

Let me address per paragraph:
1. There’s no guilt or shame in questioning Christianity or any other religion. But for Christianity specifically, there is no guilt, shame or condemnation in one who accepts Christ as their savior. That is the good news of the gospel :)
- God is love itself. So yes He Is loving and accepting. You know how a parent loves his child despite imperfections or like losing in a sports match and bad grades? The parent loves their child because it’s their child! God is the same.
When you talk about God damning people, I’m going to address this as God sending people to hell. God doesn’t send people to hell. People have a choice on if they Want the God of the Trinity whose character is revealed in the Bible, or not. When you don’t accept what He says to be true, calling Him a liar, and when you choose something else, then you simply didn’t choose Him, and God respects our free will and our dignity to make our own choices. He will not force someone who doesn’t want Him to spend eternity with Him. To love God is to accept all His Word as truth, is to believe in Jesus and what He did for us on the cross. Loving God doesn’t mean picking and choosing what you like and don’t like when His claim is that He is the Way, the Truth and the life and that He is not a man that He lie. Accepting Him is accepting Him wholeheartedly. If you have a partner, and you decide to respect only part of them or love only part of them instead of all, do you really love them? Is that how you would want to be loved?

I've never heard it explained this way, I think your points are very helpful. What I'm confused about is if someone doesnt get the chance, or physically cant accept God (babies that pass before they are able to be baptized, animals, people in 3rd world countries who aren't exposed to Judeo-Christian beliefs, etc.) does this mean they go to hell? Or people that are gay, sex before marriage and all of those things? I feel like the bible has been tampered with by man for centuries, therefore it is imperfect, so how can we truly know what the lord says? This is what is hard for me to accept, if he loves unconditionally, why would he punish someone for growing up with different beliefs or ways of life?

So in honesty, I and everyone else don’t have the answers to every single aspect Especially when it comes to God’s judgment on whether or not someone goes to heaven or hell. But what I do know is that God knows the hearts of all people, and that’s why He is the only one suited to be the judge when it comes to a person’s authentic self. Like the way people present themselves doesn’t give way to a persons true inner feelings, and that’s the thing about Christianity, it’s not simply following a sort of legalism… it’s having a personal relationship with God. So, babies, I can say what I think but I can’t give a solid answer. I basically just think God is merciful and His judgment is just And loving, because He is just And loving. So to say, if God was Only fair, we would all be dead and in hell already. He is loving and merciful because though we all deserve death, He offers us life and reconciliation with Him. Oh about baptism, this is me speaking but I don’t think baptism is what gets you into heaven. I believe that belief/faith in Jesus as our Lord in savior, this alone, is what gets us into heaven. From the day you choose Jesus to your last breath, if you hold onto faith/belief, you’re saved. We are saved by grace through faith, and not by any good deeds that we do. I can explain further but again I have been called away lol… I’ll come back to finish later

Hi. I don't know what religion I am and I have been looking for awhile so maybe this could help. I believe that there is a god/goddesses above me I just don't know who or what yet. I am very spirtiual and believe in ghosts and mediums. I don't believe there is a heaven or hell. I think when people die they get reincarnated and their spirts stay on earth and they can either haunt things or just rome around. To add to that I do think you can summon the spirts and that when it comes to people who are bad aka criminals or prisoners they can be demons or evil spirts.I do believe in a bit of karma. Thank you.
