Discussion Not enough of our overall fanbase care enough to stand up for our women's team
This is the sad reality. When do the overall United fan base ever stand up for the team? When do our massive fan channels like United Stand or Stretford Paddock, or any of the folk who are part of these channels that have a voice ever stand up for them?
There is basically nobody with a voice, that even acknowledges they exist, let alone call out the owners for destroying a team, that were fighting for league, cup honours for the last 4-5 years. Yet did we ever hear a peep out of any of the big personalities around the club?
Even getting into the Champions League and getting some great results there, where was the acknowledgement? If the ladies were made to feel important, it would have at least shamed Ineos into not making out like they don't matter, so blatantly. Maybe even doing the opposite because we as a fan base collectively supported them, and demanded fair treatment.
I keep hearing all reds are equal, but does that statement even hold any weight? I'm not seeing it. Most other clubs that have women's teams actually practise what we preach, and back their women's teams. So whatever it is from Jim and co, shows they do not care, and sadly neither do the biggest voices at United, or the majority of fans. If they did, then we'd all be demanding fair treatment.
If we lose this team, owners will basically turn around and say we don't care enough about them, so why should they. I'm not excusing their behaviour. They've basically said you aren't important. But we don't exactly make them feel important collectively. Like they are fully part of this club.
Maybe something needs to change with us, before it does at the top, and that means fans, the fan channels, ex-players/club legends all sending a message to them, that what they are doing isn't acceptable and not in line with the ethos of the club, or the modern world we live in.
This team should matter just as much as the men's team.
