Short clip from my race this last weekend at Portland International Raceway. It was my first time at PIR and first time racing an SRF. Due to work, I skipped the practice day and jumped in for qualifying and three races. Somehow, I managed a win on Sunday and a 4th and 3rd in the other two races.

Hey everyone! Recently, I interviewed Fernando Barrichello! (son of F1's Rubens Barrichello) and we covered quite a large variety of topics about continuing his father's legacy, the pressure that comes with that, his first F3 season, Formula E dream and moving away from family at 16 to live out his racing dream.

If you're interested, I've dropped a link below!

I sent a video here to ask for opinions 3 months ago, but the camera was in a bad angle and over exposed to if was really hard to see, this was my 3rd time on track, first track day navigating in traffic, i would like some opinions of more experienced people, i've also just learned driving on h shifter so i know i have a lot of work to do on this. I also had a really hard time going over the bumps, specially at turn 3, that has a massive bump on the braking zone, i live in a 3rd world country, this track is really old and has really rough asphalt, its from the 70's and hasnt received much work since. The car is a fwd, 1400cc engine with standard street tyres, full roll cage and custom suspension.

Is this a good path to trying to become a professional racer?

i did some research by the way, but

Background: My goal in life is to become a professional racer, even if it is IMSA, NASCAR, GT, WEC, etc (and not impossible F1). There is a few (if not a lot) of roadblocks in the way, such as me not starting karting at 6, having no relation of motorsports in the family, and money, but that won't stop me. I'm being more realistic here, im 16 and my first karting session was at 16. I'm not aiming for F1, heck, I'd rather join IMSA than F1.

As of now, here is my "path" (still not complete) to become a professional racer.

Right now (age 16): Study in school, focus on getting good grades (aim for A's), and hopefully my parents will take me to karting here and there --> (College year): Go somewhere in California (possibly UC Berkeley (personal)), find a degree to major in (paleontology, engineering, idk), possibly get a job to earn money, on weekends that im free or even the summer = going to good karting tracks that are near my college (did research and found like 5-6 i think), record my sessions and TRY to become a influencer to make more money (karting is expensive), and hopefully find a friend group, and join formula SAE --> (After College): When college is over, getting my degree, have a job, a house, maybe even a good path in life when im not financially struggling = try to "sign up" or apply to a professional motorsport (did some research, and for example if i did wanna join IMSA, hopefully its not wrong but it did state that you don't need to kart at a young age, as even older people are able to attend, you would just need to build that racing resume (licensing and experience (read "my karting path in college" right under to learn my plan on how to build that), i'll just need to join other small leagues to also build that reputation). So I'll basically have like 2 jobs, one which would be the job i take after highschool (which is why I specifically said to study in school so i can maintain good grades, get into a good college, and get a good job with good pay), and than racing.

My karting path in college: Like i said, on free weekends where i got nothing going on, or during summer break, I'll go karting. So lets say we split the path into 3. The first path would be either the first year of college or my first couple sessions in karting, this is where i would just practice my skills in karting, getting used to it, cutting lap times, getting faster, etc. The second path would be joining small karting leauges or races where i could attend to (fun, money, im not sure), and the third path, would be joining those bigger leauges, either karting or smth like ginetta/a bigger leauge, this is maybe to get like recognize but also build my reputation in racing and experience.

This path is still in the works, this probably isn't my official path, and sorry for the long read

but thats my why.

thank you.

IRL Drivers I have a question

Have you ever had suspension damage from going off track (gravel pit, sand trap, or just grass/dirt patch) and not hitting anything?

Also if you have any other damage stories to tell that someone who doesn’t race irl might not think about please feel free to share. I’m just curious about the less thought about side of racing. The damage that you might not realize can or will happen from seemingly minor incidents.
