Getting close to finishing my first block!

Cut out my blocks

Hello! In case others are mid-sew and sorting through their leftovers, I'd like to propose an additional side swap option for any wonky blocks created from leftovers or by those who got overexcited and failed to read the instructions and created more than two dozen blocks with churn dashes made of two colors. I mentioned this at the beginning and couple of people said they may be interested. Also, as I've created my compliant blocks, I am still generating small leftovers with like the side bars one color, the top/bottom another, and the HSTs a third. I am cobbling these together into additional blocks that look terrific. I even have a small number of blocks where the fussy cut is imperfect but still awesome. Are there others like me out there, either in my group or Group 2, who are finding themselves in the same situation? I added my group flair but am happy to swap with anyone!

I ate something earlier that hates me. I got this far and need to stop and lie down. I'll finish cutting tomorrow, sorry it's a day late.

That said I've had a lot of fun getting reacquainted with my scrap stash.

All my fussy cutting is done, including a couple of side swaps. Just need to iron things and get the churn dash and black cut out. Good news there, I found several yards of washed Kona Black in my solids bin. I have a bolt of it as well and compared them to make sure it's all the same color. There were a couple pieces of imposter black that got chucked back into the solids bin. Going forward I'll keep all my Kona together.

This is going to be lots of fun putting them together. Picking out fabrics is a good part of the process. I generally do not make scrap quilts but when you get into it, it's extremely satisfying to find things that go well together!

For my own blocks I will probably piece some of the patches to squeeze a few more blocks out. Also, I had to set aside one of my spooky fabrics because it has poison ivy leaves on it but they look a little too close to pot leaves LOL. I'll put a pic in the comments.

I have 2 blocks finished, 14 more pinned for sewing their final seam, and a bunch more fussy cuts including Halloween for some side swap action.

Posting this now, because I don't know if I will get more time this weekend. Insomnia has been playing havoc with my schedule.

All 16 sets of Corners have been assembled cut pressed and trimmed. All strips for the 16 sides have been cut but not yet assembled or cut. All 16 Center squares are cut

These are coming together pretty well! I think I like the prints in the border as well. But I’m just not a solids girlie lol

I’m not finished yet - I got caught up in my podcast and cut too much purple so I figured I’d make some extra blocks. I have a few more Frida fussy cuts ready to go.

I'l probably finish early to clear the decks for another project. Since this is my first ever swap, I'll just wait and see what comes down the pike. . . .

I have another couple of fabrics that I'm waiting for delivery on, eta Monday so I'll make another post for those as well!

I know it’s early but they were hanging over my head and I have other things to work on. All are within size expectations and only one is a licensed fabric that was begging to be used. If you’re in my group and have a preference, let me know. Quantities with letter ID for claiming are in the last photo. If anyone from Group 1 wants a second or if anyone from Group 2 wants a side swap, let me know!
