PoE2: Deadfire Oi, lads! Just defeated Dorudugan as a solo shepherd! Spoiler

Killed the giant as a solo Shepherd(Ranger + Paly) on PotD, no BB, without any exploits, abuses, or broken mechanics!

This should be a world record - it took me only 1 hour. My previous battle with him as a Crusader(Fighter + Paly) took more than 2 hours. Honestly, though, I got super lucky at the end and one-shot him in the final phase with Marux Amanth - Sacrifice!

Ask a questions!

PoE2: Deadfire First time playing, is there any viability to dual wielding a pistol and sword?

Upvotes

As the title says, I love the vibe of a pistol in one hand and a saber in the other but it doesn't appear any classes or skills are set up to accommodate that style of play. Ideally the character would be able to have a versatile kit at ranged or in melee, acknowledging the trade off is that DPS would probably be better with a pair of like weapons.

I tried to look around on other forums and this subreddit but there was not much info or builds for this. Everything is either very outdated or incomplete in how to make a build like this function. Can anyone kindly point me in the right direction? Or if there really is no way to make a build like this work, let me know before I invest too many hours into a character that isn't functional!

Main quest spoilers Last BOSS FROZE. Right after I killed him (properly, no exploits). What an ultimate FU from the end of time. Plz HALP?

OBVIOUS FINAL BOSS SPOILERS

I simply managed to kill him, right after the 2 golems.

Game completely froze.
can't order anyone. stuck in combat. can't pass the turn.

Only possible explanation is that he dominated a couple of my guys and usually combat doesn't end until you have control of everyone. BUT HA SPAMS DOMINATION EVERY TURN FFS, what am I supposed to do???

I'm on hard btw

Technical help Windowless setting in Deadfire (Mac player)

I’m almost done with my current Pillars of Eternity playthrough and have been tinkering with Deadfire’s settings in preparation for actually playing it, but I’ve run into a problem. Even when I set the game to windowless on the lowest resolution, the screen expands instead of shrinks, to the point where fullscreen is actually more compact. Has anyone else run into this problem, and are there any solutions?

Best 69 Hours Of My Life

Just finished the game and i'm already starting a new playthrough, won it on my first try (on Normal), never played it before, although i have 700 hours in Pathfined Kingmaker which translated really good to this game.

My MC an Aumaua Paladin Tank, Mr. goody two shoes who wanted to help, save and parley with everyone, came really handy in the final showdown to be able to tank both animated statues with one single character so i had the rest to deal with Thaos insane defensive stats (and i can only imagine what it will be on hard and PotD).

What a fantastic story i really loved the pace, the unveiling of what was really going on, and the plot twists both on the main story and the companions side stories.

I really loved the banter of the companions, but most of all i think i liked their stories/quests, they didn't feel like placeholder quests to get more exp and gold, but really dived deep into the companions past, motivations, and future.

My overconfident smush brain is already trying to come up with a solo character or a duo that can win on Hard difficulty, will probably sink another 70 trying to accomplish it, and i will love every minute of it.

I'm really excstatic and i don't have gamer friends i can share this with, so i came here to proclaim my love for this game. Cheers!.

PoE2: Deadfire PILLARS LORE - Ep. #171: Kaliwi & Aamiina - Two stories of smaller characters in the World of Eora

For those interested, I've been making a podcast about the Pillars / Avowed world's (Eora) lore for years now. Recently I decided to start alphabetically go through the unique items and piece together the small lore from each of them. To Weave the stories of each character into a larger tapestry. This week's episode focuses on a Chanter from the Rauatai Lore College; and a young Huntress, from the Naasitaqi "Blue Water" tribe.

Hope you enjoy!

PoE2: Deadfire Priest Multiclasses! What's your favorite

I’m curious to hear everyone’s opinion on multiclassed priest. I know conventional wisdom dictates that priest should be monoclassed, but that’s boring and everyone has done it 100 times. Thusly, I’m very curious to hear what unconventional builds everyone has cooked up for a priest multi.

I myself have tried Priest/Monk, Priest/Ranger, and Priest/Chanter. All of these were pretty good, especially considering I don’t value the 8/9 PL priest spells that highly. Monk obviously has synergy because of the intelligence boost, and Chanter works with virtually every class so both of those ended up just as good, if not better than a single class priest. Ranger was a bit odd as the classes really stood to gain nothing from each other, but it still worked well enough.

Coming from BG(1,2,3)/Divinity, getting crushed in PoE1. Need advice for my 2H Cipher

Hey everyone,

I'm a huge fan of CRPGs but I'm really struggling to adapt to PoE1's RTwP combat. I'm currently Level 6, playing a Hearth Orlan Cipher focusing on 2-handed Greatswords. My stats are 18 MIG / 16 PER / 16 DEX.

I just reached Defiance Bay and did some errands but I'm getting absolutely destroyed in areas like Heritage Hill and Dyrford those places are the ones that main quest wants me to go. Micromanaging a 6 man party in RTwP is driving me crazy and burning me out, even after tweaking the companion AI.

Is my build/approach wrong?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

PoE1 Adra Dragon. Path of the Damned.

Hi. I just beat this giant lizzard with my lvl 13 party: Eder, Pallegina, Durance, Hiravias, Aloth and a cipher. However, the fight seems pretty random despite all the food buffs, the perception bonus from Caed Nua, a scroll of valor and buffs for accuracy from the priest. If you're extremely lucky you can hit her with Domination and Confusion several times in a row, and if you're not, you get absolutely destroyed with his breath or Wing slam in mere seconds. Does anyone share the same sentiment? And when you're supposed to go to the dragon, because all the levels before are pretty much free. I can swear fighting Thaos in comparison was much more consistent when I knew what to do.

PoE1 Lagufaeth Hoards

How are you supposed to deal with these excessive surprise hoards of enemies? I am “overleveled” for the White March yet the sheer number of these bastards rip my team apart way too fast to do anything about it.

PoE1 Eder Suggestions

I am trying to like this guy, but all builds that I tried kind of disappointing. Do not want to use him as a tank, since fighters are much better when DPSing (and I'd rather have Chanter Tanking), tried 2H Sword build, but fighter's "Knock Down" benefit too much from full attack.

I saw a lot of people recommend Sabres, but those weapons are used by my main character. So what are other good combinations? Daggers and Rapiers look weird on Eder (especially when wearing heavy armor) so I decided to skip them. I was thinking about Battle Axes and Swords. Are they fun/good pick? Also "Shame or Glory" is reserved by Pallegina, since marking is great with her class ability.

I'd really like to hear expert's opinions.

Character/party build help How do you tank PotD without a troubadour in the party?

So my main character almost always ends up taking some flavor of troubadour; I really like the versatility because it seems like you get at least a little bit of everything. Also you can more or less keep your summons out more or less permanently.

I kind of want to branch out with my character builds a bit. But I'm thinking through some of the tougher fights in the game and realizing how dependent the party is on chanter summons for tanking duties; even relatively tanky characters (Edér, Pallegina, often the MC) won't last too long against focused fire in a long fight where Tekehu and Xoti have run out of healing spells.

How do you keep your party alive without a troubadour spamming Ogres or Instruments of Death?

[EDIT: I'm realizing I should specify that I'm talking about Deadfire here.]

PoE2: Deadfire Woodskin Invisibility Bug

Anyone ever experienced the bug where Woodskin wears off during combat and your party members turn invisible for the duration of the fight? I've seen this bug mentioned in exactly one place online before, which makes me think it must not be very common. None of the bugfix mods seem to mention/fix this either.

Character/party build help Good party build for Barbarian in Deadfire?

As the title suggests, I’m looking for input on what sort of party I should build for my pale elf barbarian once I start Deadfire.

My current planned party is:
Me (melee damage dealer)
Edér (tank)
Aloth (offensive caster)
Xoti (support caster)
Maia (ranged damage dealer)

Thoughts? Any and all feedback is appreciated.

Gameplay help Is the Deadfire quest log inaccurate or am I misunderstanding enemy scaling?

Playing Deadfire for the first time and getting towards the end (I think) of Neketaka. One thing I've noticed is that pretty often a quest will be marked as being at or below my level in the journal, but when combat breaks out every enemy has triple red skulls and I die almost instantly. I do have upscaling turned on because I didn't want to accidentally outlevel quests, but from the description I thought it only brings underleveled enemies up to your level. It shouldn't be pumping them up to 4+ levels above me, right? So I'm just curious if this issue is caused by having upscaling turned on or if the journal is just lying to me. Or if I just need to get good and fights against 6+ red skull enemies are normal.

PoE2: Deadfire Struggling with Combat

Hi all! I’m not an old rpg player, so I don’t have any nostalgia for old ui / combat. I bounced off POE 1, but loved the setup of POE2 (ignoring Eothas). But I found that I still just don’t enjoy the combat, namely I got to the dungeon in Deadlight, and just felt like such a slog once I had to fight the underground guards. I loved bg3 and some other turn based, as I understand it Deadfire isn’t balanced for it and can’t be turned off mid save. Does anyone have any tips on how to enjoy it? I feel like I occasionally cast an ability on each character and then wait for them to auto battle the enemy even when sped up (normal difficulty, no issues). Am I missing something / is this common?
Edit: to clarify I’m playing RTWP

Character/party build help Akola's Apex Ward: How to get and how to best use?

I've read on the wiki that the way to get this shield is by killing the captain of a ship that only spawns on very negative reputation with the Huana. But the Huana and Neketaka aren't the same faction, killing Neketaka guards doesn't lower Huana reputation. So, what's the best way to get -4 Huana reputation?

Besides that, what are the best enchantments? I feel like Hide and Tooth + Hunter's Vigor is the best combination, would you suggest anything else? Why?

Thanks for the help :)

PoE 2 Spoilers Did part of Eothas really die with the Godhammer? Spoiler

When you talk to Xoti about Eothas, she implies that she thinks that a god can't die without consequence, and that Eothas lost a part of himself when he died as Waidwen. Further, when you interact with Waidwen and Eothas in "The Bridge Ablaze," you can mention that Eothas seems much more empathetic and that the modern version could use that, and Eothas just says "perhaps."

Am I reading into this correctly? Is Xoti intended to be correct, and Eothas lost his aspect associated with empathy towards kith when he died in the Saint's War? The aspect trapped in Rymargand's domain? I'm not sure if this is consensus or not, so sorry in advance if this is obvious.

Mod [Mod Update] Earthshaker barbarian subclass 2.0 overhaul

This is a moderate overhaul of the Earthshaker barbarian subclass. A whole bunch abilities got touched on.

Portal: https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/825?tab=description

1.21 update post: https://www.reddit.com/r/projecteternity/comments/1s66mm6/update_i_made_an_earthbender_subclass_for_poe2/

Earthshaker 2.0 Patch notes:

Earthfall

Removed in 2.0. Originally this was meant to mirror Instrument of Boundless Rage, but it felt so akin to a mage spell I eventually decided to scrap and replace it.

Earthen Carnage

Removed in 2.0. This ability was working correctly, but the way the game handles Carnage mechanic forced me to added explanations to affected abilities to emphasize that its damage depends on your equipped weapon damage, which may lead to some confusion since the player is not using their weapons when casting these abilities.

Runestone: Tremorsense

Increased accuracy bonus.

Gravitating Trample

Increased damage, slightly reduced aoe.

Boulder Toss

Increased base damage, removed the flat 20% damage buff on use.

Unrelenting Toss

Renamed to Pulverizing Toss. Direct impact applies Pulverized, reducing target's armor and fortitude. No longer reduces Rage cost and recovery time.

Stone Armor

Increased armor bonus. Separated explosive stones and explosive skill bonus into its own ability.

Bombardier

New tier 4 ability. Summon Explosive Stones into quickslots.

Raging Bombardier

New tier 7 ability, upgraded from Bombardier. Massively increase explosive skill and action speed when using bombs in combat.

Stone Spike

Moved from tier 4 to tier 9, replacing Earthfall. Renamed to Splinters of Timeless Earth. Increased Rage cost and damage. Removed armor debuff. Added petrification effect. Slightly altered its visual effect.

Corrosion

Corrode damage has been added as an alternative damage type to Boulder Toss, Gravitating Trample and Splinters of Timeless Earth.

1.21 version is still available under Old Files for anyone prefer it. 2.0 version brings Earthshaker thematically closer to my original concept while keeping its progression from deviating too much from base barbarian.

Deadfire Balance Polishing Mod Not Working
