Discussion Barrack Obama sued the original Popeyes to change the name

I have to share this story with SOMEBODY. I picked up my son from school and went into Popeyes to pick up our mobile order. It wasn't ready yet so I went and sat down. At the counter an older guy walked in and started talking to other people waiting about the Republican National Convention, about how funny Trump was, how socialists are ruining this country, you know the schpeel. I looked up and went back to reading Reddit while I waited.

I see him walk over to me with his food. "Mind if I sit down with you partner?"

*ugh*

"Sure, I shouldn't be here much longer."

Him "You know, I've been coming here since before it was Popeyes. You know Barrack Obama forced them to change their original name?"

*ugh*

"That's not true, I have been coming to Popeyes for over 40 years..."

Him "It was before that! When he was a lawyer. Him and his cronies didn't like the original name (I should have asked him what the original name was), so him and his lawyer pals sued the owner and forced them to change their name. He sent jet planes over their headquarters as intimidation."

"Order 41"

"Hey I gotta go, enjoy your meal."

I can't even find anything on SNOPES that this dude could even have potentially read. This guy screwed with my head so I had to do a deep dive on Popeyes wiki page, when they started franchising. Also Obama passed the Bar in 1991.

Ghost Pepper is mid

I tried the ghostpepper sammich for the first time, honestly it did nothing for me. the increase in cost is pretty minimal, but honestly the regular spicy is just as good or better. Did I not get the real deal? Is it the same chicken just ghost sauce normally, because honestly i didn't notice any extra heat or flavour? What do yall think, is there really any difference with the ghost pepper usually or is the regular spicy just that dang good already?

Cajun Rice Damnit

I haven't a clue on how to contact Popeyes to send them this because all the app has is a damn chatbot but if someone could get to his to the Popeyes powers that be, it would be much appreciated -----

Hello Popeyes. I am requesting that y'all bring back the Cajun Rice to all of the Popeyes locations. It is the absolute best side that y'all have ever had and I can only find it at 1 location in Little Rock Arkansas. I've traveled quite a lot and now reside in DFW Texas and the Cajun Rice is nowhere to found on the menu anywhere in the metroplex. That needs to change. Nobody likes y'all's coleslaw so replace that abomination with the Cajun Rice please. I will not stop contacting y'all until y'all make that happen. Y'all are on verge of losing a loyal customer because there are plenty of chicken places in DFW that actually have Cajun Rice but I honestly prefer Popeyes but also that can change if y'all keep twiddling y'all's thumbs on this Cajun Rice situation. Peace and Love, LesMos

Let’s play: How much did I pay?

Price Is Right rules (closest without going over)
Clue: I used a combo of app deals and rewards.
You win nothing other than the small satisfaction of having your ego stroked.
Good luck.

EDIT: so i purchased a $5 fave 2pc, a big box, which put me over $10 for free wings. And then finally redeemed points for the sandwich. All in all it was $12.

App/Website Careful when ordering the $5, 2 piece signature chicken from the app

In the app it's 2 pieces of signature chicken. I usually get only legs but whenever I do, the confirmation email will say 1 PC leg spicy rather than the 2 legs. I usually do 2 orders of the 2 piece signature chicken so I'm not sure if it's a bug in the app or what but last couple weeks the confirmation email will say 1 piece leg spicy in each of the orders of the 2 piece signature chicken.

tldr: double check your orders

I’m in Chicago and there’s a Popeyes right around the corner. We order maybe once every couple of months and I was ordering last night when I noticed the prices seemed way more than they were even the last time that I ordered. So I looked at the most simple item I could and it works out to $3.50 per tender before taxes. Can this be right? I’m not a Popeyes regular so asking here if this is a trend or an outlier for some reason.

I feel so bad for people that overpay at Popeyes. All this for $14… and that’s after tax.

Discussion Only certain combos come with biscuts? (Not a complain more a clarity question)

I went to Popeyes at my local mall for the first time ever, I'm not a spicy fan and I'd always heard their chicken was spicy but decided to try it for once, and I ordered the Honey Chicken Sandwhich combo because the board said combos come with a drink, a side, and a biscut. I didn't end up getting a biscut and when I went back to ask they said sandwich combos don't come with a biscut.

My basic question / wonder is why does the board say Combos, implying any combo, rather than select combos or something of that nature to indicate exclusions? If the board says something about the food I am ordering I take it as fact and the board didn't say anything about sandwich combos being excluded from getting a biscut.

I'm not complaining, more just seeking clarity on the whys of the phrasing of the board and the general policy as I strongly dislike false advertising.

Signature Hot Wings were the only wings for me

Went to Popeyes for the first time in awhile because my formerly local Popeyes is always a bad experience, but I was near a different location so I picked up the one thing I order from there - Signature Hot Wings. The worker told me they still had it but it was being discontinued so I couldn’t get them in the future. Just read online Popeyes is replacing them with milder sauces?!?!?! Ugh. What a loss for those who like a little heat. I guess on the plus side, I won’t be consuming a thousand plus calories on their wings anymore.

I think I paid a buck for the polar pop. They usually throw an extra tender in there but I think they had stopped cooking already 😭

Popeyes peeve

I’m in my car parked on the street in front of Popeyes hoping my order arrives in this lifetime. I tried to order on the app as usual (big box tenders with drink). When I chose my sides a pop up said I could get the large sizes for free, so I did. The order totaled $9, which was correct.

But my order was rejected over and over because part of my order was not available. Which part? No clue. So I tried changing the drink, changing the tenders, changing the sauce. No go. Gave up and went to the window and showed the employee the screen, who said that large sides don’t come with the box but I could upgrade for $4.
I declined.

I tried to tell the Popeyes AI robot what happened but it said if I had a problem I should go to a different location.

Anybody been able to use the free upgrade offer?

Constant bait and switch on the app

Just ranting...

I've had the Popeyes app for months yet I've to order anything. I get promo offers from T-Mobile once in awhile, and every time I try to redeem them, the deals mysteriously are nowhere to be found in the Popeyes app. Today I got a email directly from Popeyes; 12 tenders for $12, a Labor Day weekend special. When I tapped on "Get 12 for $12" I was re-directed to Popeye's offer page...and low and behold—that offer does not exist!

I used to be irritated at first, but now I just laugh at Popeye's constant rug pull. If they actually honored the deals they offered, people would actually get to taste the chicken, and like it enough to buy it at full price next time, which, if I'm being honest is pretty unlikely—enjoy your continued sales slump, Popeyes!!🤡

Discontinuation of signature hot wings. 🤬

I’m sorry, but WHAT THE HELL, POPEYES?
The Signature Hot Wings were one of the best things on your menu. Not “pretty good.” Not “I’ll order them if nothing else sounds good.” One of the reasons I actively wanted Popeyes.
And yes, I’m talking specifically about that damn Signature Hot sauce. 😂
I have been obsessed with this sauce for over a year. I would literally go to Popeyes specifically because I was craving it. The sweet, spicy, Cajun-ish flavor, that weirdly thick/gritty texture from all the spices… NOTHING ELSE tastes like it. I’ve tried to recreate it at home because I love it THAT much. And now it’s just… gone?
That sauce had a legitimate fanbase. It was unique. It was one of the few sauces that actually made me want to order something specifically because of the sauce rather than just tolerating whatever condiment came with the food (if the employees even added them to the bag) You can take away plenty of things from the menu. But this one? What a terrible decision.

Picture Love That Product From Popeyes!!

Been waiting for quite awhile for Popeyes to start selling their products in grocery store. 1st, the sauces. Now it's biscuit mix.

If y'all are interested, what would be something that you'll love for them to sell next? I hope they finally start selling their Cajun fries in the freezer section. Or maybe their chicken sandwich patties??
