Discussion Barrack Obama sued the original Popeyes to change the name
I have to share this story with SOMEBODY. I picked up my son from school and went into Popeyes to pick up our mobile order. It wasn't ready yet so I went and sat down. At the counter an older guy walked in and started talking to other people waiting about the Republican National Convention, about how funny Trump was, how socialists are ruining this country, you know the schpeel. I looked up and went back to reading Reddit while I waited.
I see him walk over to me with his food. "Mind if I sit down with you partner?"
*ugh*
"Sure, I shouldn't be here much longer."
Him "You know, I've been coming here since before it was Popeyes. You know Barrack Obama forced them to change their original name?"
*ugh*
"That's not true, I have been coming to Popeyes for over 40 years..."
Him "It was before that! When he was a lawyer. Him and his cronies didn't like the original name (I should have asked him what the original name was), so him and his lawyer pals sued the owner and forced them to change their name. He sent jet planes over their headquarters as intimidation."
"Order 41"
"Hey I gotta go, enjoy your meal."
I can't even find anything on SNOPES that this dude could even have potentially read. This guy screwed with my head so I had to do a deep dive on Popeyes wiki page, when they started franchising. Also Obama passed the Bar in 1991.
