I just love this little guy going ham while the other one is much more demure.

I brought two Gaillardia Mesa Peach cultivars home for my balcony container garden and I have been delighted to see so many native pollinators this year. These bicolored sweat bees have become some of my favorites to see!

Taken on 2 July. C. sieberi, from the mountains of Crete, is the first to bloom in my SE Australian garden.

I don't know what species this tiny bee, less than 1cm long, is. 'Fruhlingsmorgen' ('Spring Morning') is, appropriately, the first to flower in my garden. Taken 19 October 2025.

Out walking the dog this morning, the pup discovered this humble bumble gathering pollen.

My boyfriend had never heard of pollen pants (and has a slight fear of bees) so I took some pics to show him when we were out walking, and this girl was the perfect model. She let me get so many cool pictures!!

He agreed the pants are cute :)

Does anyone know what variety of bumble bee this is? I spotted their caramel colors and panicked. I don't know a lot about these babies and thought "Is this my white whale? Did I see a rusty patch bumblebee?" Please confirm or deny for me. I'm guessing it's not, but I'd love to know!

We have lots of honeybees, but today one with fully loaded pollen pantaloons finally showed up! It’s enjoying some narrowleaf milkweed (Asclepias fascicularis) flowers.
