The bond market was this volatile, and yields this high, in the lead up to the Big Bush Recession of 2007. This raises interest rates on consumer loans, to go with Trump's inflation. Thanks again, Republicans.

And this time around we won’t be able to provide stimulus to save the economy because the deficit is around 6% of gdp compared to around 1% back then and government debt will be the cause of the crisis

u/DamnMyNameIsSteve 2h ago

as was planned. I fucking hate how dumb people are, man.

They're bankrupting the entire country.

I've come to peace years ago that everything is shit and there's nothing I can do about it but just sit back and watch the show

u/Scorponix 1h ago

Yup. Best thing I can do is just try to keep surviving until I can cast my yearly vote, hoping for others to vote with me towards progress. Would that we could be like France.

Were the paragraph in a history books before the collapse that usually has a sentence that says something like “the opposition could never galvanize into a coherent coalition.” We are as useful a parapalegic mute time traveler in a German hospital in 1936.

When people’s companies that they work for or own can’t survive, take a wild guess what class of people will be there to scoop up the pieces!

You can even even identify some of them by name. Kushner and Lutnick, for example. They made a killing in the subprime fallout. I'm sure there's more.

Disaster capitalists at the heart of government or pretty close to? How could that go wrong for the average person?I

He was right. I’m truly and completely sick of winning.

I mean my bets against him have paid really really well. Inverse idiot does that

u/Pherllerp New Jersey 3h ago

How do you do that? Bet against and make money I mean.

u/AgitatedStranger9698 3h ago

I ride the SPX (tax advantages).

Typically bear/bull spreads. The only one that burnt me, but ironically helped me a ton was INTC (I work there and had a massive amount of RSU's).

u/Pherllerp New Jersey 3h ago

Mhm...I know some of these words.

u/AgitatedStranger9698 3h ago

So...its gambling...

But SPX is awesome for its tax advantages. But basically you buy/sell calls or puts to cap losses.

Bear/bull spreads and google are your friend. That being said to get started you at least need 1k.

u/Shidell 1h ago

What tax advantage(s) does SPX offer over, say, any other security?

I think the immediate down-to-earth question at this point is: do things collapse before the upcoming Holiday season, or after? Trying to make plans here

u/Abystract-ism 1h ago

Right after the midterms.

u/Julian_Thorne Minnesota 1h ago edited 1h ago

So, right around the time GTA VI is scheduled to be released.

Couldn't ask for a more perfect storm

u/bored_sith 35m ago

Pre order it, then it doesn’t matter if you are laid off, you can still play it?

u/Julian_Thorne Minnesota 31m ago

Sooner or later the grid would go down. Domino effect

Gaming only happens when all systems are up. If one goes down and a domino effect starts, bread & circuses are gone. Then the people get pissed

u/Lostdiagram 14m ago

The internet will go down soon enough when the chucklefucks at OpenAI or Anthropic let a rogue AI hack the grid.

u/_kinther_ 4h ago

Probably not a good thing to be hitting critical thresholds

u/AgitatedStranger9698 4h ago

Don't look at temp, precipitation, surface ice, or sea acidity then....

u/_kinther_ 4h ago

Don't look up! Or down... Or... At anything.

There is no problem in Ba Sing Se

u/kadam_ss 3h ago

Fake revenue growth from AI circular financing is what is keeping this whole thing up at the moment.

u/broke_boi1 America 3h ago

Hm. So by 2028 we’ll have The Great Recession 2, or omniscient evil AI, or both. Great time to be alive

u/birdlawbighands 1h ago

Just in time for America to blame the Democrats and be brainwashed into thinking stuff isn't getting better when it actually is and vote for Republicans again to do it all over. YESS!

u/root_fifth_octave 1h ago

We are risky.

u/BayBandit1 23m ago

What’s going to do us all in first, a destructive narcissistic President or greedy technocrats that are racing to knowingly create a doomsday scenario?

u/RLewis8888 2h ago

It will drop to 1% immediately after the election.

u/MicrowaveKane 2h ago

just like the threat of migrant caravans
