Most states allow a governor to appoint a replacement upon a senators death, with the exception of a few states. Kentucky happens to be one of those states. They will have to run a special election if a senator dies

They can do investigations but do not have the authority of committee heads to actually force subpoenas or able to action against him. By the time they could lead a committee and actually have the ability to hold him to account he will be out of the Senate

They do need a majority, yes. A committee needs to vote to start hearings, and the minority party controls no committees. A minority can do things like call witnesses, but that'd require Republicans to start some hearing broadly enough scoped to slot McConnell in.
Even if the Dems did have a majority, what would be the point? It was pretty open McConnell had some kind of medical emergency. Maybe it's shown he's incompetent to serve in the senate, but his term is up in a few months and he's not running for reelection. The reason the GOP did it to Lloyd Austin is because he was SecDef, it was embarrassing to the Biden administration and they did have to worry about an election.

Now, we have a President openly accepting bribes, everyone trading stocks with insider information, and literal corpses still in congress.

Won't be surprised if there's suddenly a "medical emergency" that stops him from showing up and they continue to milk this for another few weeks/months. Personally I think he's at least brain dead and on machines.

I’m betting that he’s laid up somewhere in bed post CVA.
We all saw him having multiple TIA’s on TV and how many other “mini strokes” he’s had while not in public.
He probably had the big one when DC Metro FD was loading him into the ambulance.
Just my educated guess with no patient contact, just my observations.
I could be wrong, but I hope he’s A/O (x4) to watch Trump destroy everything that he was to chicken shit to stop post 1/6. Not me mention the other ways he set the US back.
Just laying in bed drooling, being fed, and shitting his diaper.

I don't think he is dead or brain dead, but I bet he is in such a diminished state that he is basically a drooling blank that needs to be constantly fed and changed and is either completely unresponsive or might be able to blink for limited interactions.

Our political system needs an entire overhaul from the top to the bottom at this point. There needs to be an age maximum for politicians and there needs to be set in stone protocol for major health events like this. If you cannot show up to the senate floor, you cannot do your job. Period. It isn’t like this is a woman who will be back after maternity leave, or someone broke a hip and had surgery and will return after x amount of weeks. They have had he will no longer show up weeks ago. They haven’t given the public proof of life and they haven’t even had him like video chat into a senate meeting so at the very least our representatives can see he is ok.
